TITLE V-B PPOHA FUNDS
“Higher Education Professional Engagement Award” (HEPEG)
• Students in the Higher Education Leadership doctoral degree program at the Abraham S. Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern University, Florida, were granted a “Higher Education Professional Engagement Award” (HEPEG), funded by the Fischler Title V-B PPOHA Grant.
• The HEPEG funds enabled recipients to attend leadership enrichment and networking activities, described in the sections that follow.
Jennifer BravoEd.D. Student Candidate
• Jennifer Reported…• Sessions included administrators from 21
U.S. states and from nine foreign countries including Sweden, Canada, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Uganda, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Germany, Austria, and the Philippines.
• Sessions underscored the importance of taking time to stop and reflect. As a result of her meditation exercises while in the program, Jennifer will pilot a Dissertation Café on the need for self-care to reduce anxiety that results from the demands of a doctoral program and the challenges of timely completion of one’s dissertation.

• Karyne Reported… • As a native of Haiti, Karyne came
from a disadvantaged background, thus, she appreciates gaining new insights and skills from the Disney Leadership Institute.
• Disney Leadership Institute exposed her to diverse leadership styles of global entrepreneurs, military, educational and financial leaders.

• Additional sessions discussed essential personal codes which will translate into successful leadership such as (1) Inner authority (2) Commitment to personal vision and values (3) Modeling commitment, and (4) Inspiring and encouraging others to act.
