What Novell is Doing

• Novell Technical Services will provide direct support to Novell Nterprise Linux Services customers via the current Premium Support Programs

• Fully endorsed by Dell, HP, IBM• Substantial ISV support and

commitments• Tier 1,2, and 3 support for the services

and distribution will be offered• Novell Nterprise Linux Services available

on both the SUSE and Red Hat enterprise servers

• Novell Ngage Team’ provide complete Linux-based solutions

• Certified Linux Engineer (CLE) program (already announced)

• GroupWise port to Linux (already announced)

Novell is taking the next step in our open, cross-platform computing strategy by extending our entire ecosystem to Linux.


Nterprise Linux Services Overview

Novell Nterprise Linux Services is a suite of enterprise-ready software which allows organizations that are embracing Linux as an OS strategy to economically replace and consolidate servers and extend traditionally ‘NetWare’ services to the Linux platform without losing functionality.


Which Linux Distribution?

Two primary options at this time:• SuSE• RedHat

First release of Novell Nterprise Linux Services will be certified on SuSE Linux Enterprise Server and RedHat Enterprise Linux

• Novell will support the Novell services on both distributions.

All subsequent Novell products/solutions will be certified and supported on market leading Linux Distributions

tar

NAME tar - The GNU version of the tar archiving utility

SYNOPSIS tar [ - ] x -extract | c --create | t --list | u --update | … filename1 [ filename2, ... filenameN ] directory1 [ directory2, ...directoryN ]

DESCRIPTION This manual page documents the GNU version of tar , an archiving program designed to store and extract files from an archive file known as a tarfile. A tarfile may be made on a tape drive, however, it is also common to write a tarfile to a normal file. The first argument to tar must be one of the options: Acdrtux, followed by any optional functions. The final arguments to tar are the names of the files or directories which should be archived. The use of a directory name always implies that the subdirectories below should be included in the archive.
