Our special Thanksgiving Mass will be Wednesday, November 21 at 7pm. We invite you all to join us for Mass. This may give those who will spend a lot of the Holiday cooking/entertaining an opportunity to join together in giving thanks. Everyone is welcome! Let’s rejoice and give thanks together.

Parish Service for Our Homebound Parishioners We have a service to parishioners who are home-bound and/or alone and would welcome someone to visit them occasionally and receive the Eucharist. If you or someone you know might be interested in this service, please call the parish office at 315- 488-8490.

Gratitude Gratitude is more than mental exercise, more than a

formula of words. We cannot be satisfied to make a

mental note of things which God had done for us and

then perfunctorily thank God for favors received. To

be grateful is to recognize the love of God in every-

thing God has given us – and God has given us every-

thing. Every breath we draw is a gift of divine love,

every moment of existence is a grace, for it brings

with it immense graces from God. Gratitude therefore

takes nothing for granted, is never unresponsive, is

constantly awakening to new wonder and to praise of

the goodness of God. For the grateful person knows

that God is good, not by hearsay but by experience.

That makes all the difference. Thomas Merton

Thanksgiving Table Prayer

Lord God, our hearts are crowded with gratitude as we celebrate the feast of Thanksgiving. We have come to this our feasting table with great joy and eagerness,

for we are truly grateful to You, our God, for all that we have been given. We pause now and, in silent prayer, do thank You for the great generosity of Your gifts.

(Pause for silent reflection)

We also thank one another for gifts- especially for the gifts of love and affection that we have freely shared. We are thankful for all who are present at this our feast as well as for all those who have labored our love in order to bring this dinner to our table.

May You, our God, bless this Thanksgiving feast and all of us who shall share it in Your holy name: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen

A Thanksgiving Litany: I am thankful for the mess to clean up after a party because it means I have been surrounded by friends. I am thankful for the taxes I pay because it means that I am employed. I am thankful for the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have had enough to eat. I am thankful for my shadow that watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine. I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home. I am thankful for all the complaining I do about the government because it means we have freedom of speech. I am thankful for the spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking. I am thankful for my big heating bill because it means I am warm. (I love this one. No one look around! Don't turn behind you for this.)

I am thankful for the lady behind me in church who sings off-key because it means I can hear. I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means my loved-ones are nearby. I am thankful for weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive. I am thankful for the alarm that goes off early in the morning because it means I am alive.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION What return can I make to the Lord for all that He

gives to me? November, is devoted to special Thanksgiving – thanksgiving to God for every blessing of our nation, family, health and well-being. The month begins with an ending– a celebration of all the Saints and ends with a beginning – the first days of the season of Ad-vent. We pray with great gratitude for all that God has given us as we prepare to enter into a new liturgical year. Eucharistic Adoration allows one to reflect in silence on the graces and blessings we have received during the past year. How has God acted in your life and how will you acknowledge His goodness to you? Consider coming before the Eucharist to offer sincere gratitude. All are welcome!

A Family Perspective Today’s gospel teaches us UNCERTAINTY is nor-mal. There are some things in life, which “no one knows...only the Father.” Marriage and parenting are full of uncertainty for like the fig tree in the gospel; the people we love grow and change. Bud Ozar
