Well this year is almost gone. Every year that goes by is the closer to my retirement. Looking at 3 years and 11
months now. Then it will be more riding, visiting and traveling the 4 corners of the United States. Here lately, it’s
been mostly work, work, work.
Seems like everyone is gearing up for the holidays, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays with all the
food to eat. Just can’t go wrong visiting family and friends and eating everywhere you go. Then it’s time to deco-
rate for Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, Chapter TN-N will not have a meeting in December, we will have our Christmas Party on the 13th of December at 6:00pm at the Old Country Store and will play Dirty Santa after we
eat. This is always a TON of FUN for us, we have a BLAST! We have also chosen a New Couple of the Year for our
Chapter and they will be announced at the Christmas Party.
On Wednesday 1st day of the Year, we will have our Annual Polar Bear Ride which will be to the Old Country
Store. We will meet there at 11:00am for lunch. So if it is COLD, man up and get on those Wings, Harley’s or
what every you ride and let’s fill the parking lot at Casey Jones with bikes. I will be getting a head count soon for
this event. CMA always joins us on this and makes it even BETTER.
I’m sure by the time everyone gets this, we will already have done the OPS meeting which is always FUN and
KNOWLEDGABLE. I hope to see all (at least most) of my friends there. I have to work the night before the meet-
ing, hope I can keep my eyes open that day, once I get back home, I can sleep since I took off Saturday. I’m sure
Richard and Becky will keep it interesting.
We are still getting in some rides between the cold weather. Some of the Chapter members rode to Meo Mio
Restaurant in Bath Springs, TN last Saturday. There were 8 of them that made it, I had to work. Seems like all
the FUN falls on the days I work, HAHA. Attending the Dinner Ride was Billy & Shirley Mullins, Avery & Diane Davis, Eldon& Debbie Seaton, Nolan Nation and Sandy Hayes. They had a good time, wish I had been there.
Sandy is working on all the Dinner Rides and other Rides for next year. She is also working on some contest
for next year too. So, get ready for some good riding and FUN, FUN, FUN!!
So, until then

Hello everybody, I hope all of you are doing well. November has been a good month so far, a little cool, but
nice. I have not been riding much, miss it a lot.
We had our first morning meeting, it was different, the food was good, but I think we might go back to nights.
It is just hard for some of us to get up the stairs.
I now have a new name, Pacer. This is what my family calls me now since I got a pacemaker this month.
(HeHeHe we also fondly call him the Energizer Bunny!!! Eldon’s message has been hacked). All went well and now my heart rate is above 60 all the time.
We have our Christmas Dinner coming up. I am sure we all will enjoy the food, and friends getting together.
We will not have our regular monthly meeting in December because of this. We want to wish everyone a MERRY
CHRISTMAS, please be safe and enjoy the holiday. Remember what the season is really about.
I have been gathering some recipes that I thought were pretty good, so I am going to post a few. Try this one
and see what you think. It sounds delicious.
Hard Rock Candy
1 cup Water
3-¾ cups Sugar
1-¼ cup Light Corn Syrup
1 teaspoon Food Coloring (optional)
1 teaspoon Cinnamon Oil (2 Teaspoons For Spicy)
1-½ cup Powdered Sugar Butter, For Greasing Your Surfaces
Butter a 15 inch x 10 inch x 1 inch sheet cake pan. Line the pan with parchment paper and butter the parch-
ment paper, making sure the edges of the parchment paper are well buttered to prevent the candy from seeping
underneath.
In a large deep sauce pan combine water, sugar, corn syrup and food coloring. Mix over medium high heat
until sugar starts to dissolve. Attach a candy thermometer to the side of the pan making sure it does not touch
the bottom of pan for an accurate temperature. Continue to boil until sugar mixture reaches 300 degrees (hard
crack stage) – about 20 minutes. Watch closely, if mixture starts to boil too close to the edge of pan remove pan
from heat and stir until bubbles subside and then return to medium high heat.
Once mixture reaches 300 degrees, remove pan from heat and stir in the cinnamon oil, working quickly. Keep
your face away from the mixture as it is strong like onions and keep the work area well ventilated. Pour immedi-
ately into prepared pan. Allow to cool for 4 hours.
After 4 hours dust the top of the candy with powdered sugar. Flip candy over onto a large cutting board or
cookie sheet and remove parchment paper. Return candy to the pan and use the tip of a sharp knife to break candy into bite size pieces. Dust with more powdered sugar and store in a airtight container.

Welcome to GWRRA Rider Education…
RIDER ED ‘GIMME 5’ TOPIC: End of Season Cycle Maintenance
Whether the riding season in your area lasts only four or five months, or as long as ten months, most of us
will let our motorcycles remain unridden for a long enough period of time that it is best to prepare it for a season
of rest.
November typically brings weather throughout the northern tier of states that is not very good for motorcy-
cling. Most parts of this great country of ours experience two or more months of weather that is not considered
part of the riding season. The air temperature alone gets cold enough to cause hypothermia without adding the
wind chill from sitting atop a motorcycle while blasting down the road at legal speeds – even at 45 mph. And
many areas will have snow on the ground before the month is out. Some of you may be cold-blooded enough to
prolong the season a few extra weeks, but for most, there is a period each year when your motorcycle becomes a lonesome friend sitting quietly in the garage.
Before you park it for a season of inactivity, this is a great time to get your end of season maintenance done. It
is recommended that you change the oil and oil filter to remove contaminants – dirt, deposits, acids and moisture
– that can lead to corrosion inside the engine. Other fluid levels should be checked for proper level. If the fluids
are due for replacement based on miles ridden since the last change (check your manual and service history),
this is a good time to do that and any other maintenance tasks that you may have been putting off.
Your mechanic likely is not very busy at this time of year. He (she) would probably appreciate your visit, too!
And you know your bike will be better for it. Then when spring comes next year (it is not that far off, after all!),
you’ll be ready to go without a visit to the mechanic before planning your next big ride. After you get it back from
your mechanic, fill the gas tank and add the appropriate amount of fuel stabilizer (such as Stabil) before parking
your Wing. Wash and wax the bike and inflate the tires. The battery should be disconnected from the motorcycle
(negative terminal first) and trickle charged at least every 30 days, per your Gold Wing Owner’s Manual. (Refer to
your battery charger manual for more charging details.) Take good care of your Wing, and your Wing will take
good care of you!

We have had some fun this month. First we had the gathering on a Saturday morning. That was different
but I think most of us like the night meetings most. Well the Deer Poop award was well deserved this month. I
think I heard you can find the story and the recipient later in the newsletter. It was funny!!!!! We did get an-
other dinner ride in this month. We made our second trip to Meo Mio in Bath Springs, just outside Decaturville.
That is a fun trip with Cajun food. The buffalo hot wings were not what Sandy remembered the last time we
were there, but I think everyone else like their food. We had a great time visiting and that is why we do the rides.
Just got back from the Operations meeting in Murfreesboro. The meetings keep us updated about any new rules
or forms since last year.
It is time for a new Couple of the Year. Avery and I have had a blast and will always think of it as an honor to
have been selected. So good luck to the new Couple of the Year to be announced on December 13, 2013.

Goings On
We started the month on November 2nd at our first breakfast gathering. It was different and breakfast was
good for a change. Here are the folks who got out early in the morning to fellowship and have fun: David and
Jeanette Bowens, Teo Hill, Oliver and Gattie Welch, Avery and Diane Davis, Shirley and Billy Mullins,
James Robertson, Joe Terket, Don Rinehart, Eldon and Debbie Seaton, Nolan Nation, Reginald and Kim
Seymour, Tony Douglas (our fearless leader), Jeff and Shari Douglas, and me (your humble ME)!! (Joke). No-vember 16th was our second event for the month. It was a Saturday afternoon dinner ride to Meo Mio’s. Num-
bers were small but still a lot of fun around the table. Thanks to Diane and Avery, Billy and Shirley, Eldon and
Debbie, Nolan Nation and Me. You gotta keep an eye on Avery. I have not seen this side of him. Hmmmm.
Thanks for the fun Avery.
By the time you read this newsletter, your officers will have returned from our annual update for OPS. That’s
where we go to learn all the right things we are supposed to be doing for the business side of GWRRA.
And then before you know it—it’s FUN TIME. The annual Christmas Dinner gathering is around the corner.
You gotta be there. This one’s REALLY for you. Remember this is the time the Chapter gives back to you for all
the great work you have done. I am really really proud of all you have done this year. And I believe we are al-
ready the CHAPTER of the YEAR—I just hope District thinks so as well. We have worked hard and the partici-
pation numbers will show it. THANKS GUYS! See you at the Christmas Dinner on the 13th of December at
6:00.

Hello Tennessee Wingers!
We are at the start of our Holiday season and that means our bikes are sitting more than they are rolling. I
really don’t like the cold and I know I am not alone. This does give us an opportunity to catch up with our fami-lies and spend time together during the holidays. I really do like Thanksgiving, I think it has something to do
with all those wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. Of course, it could be birthday cake & ice cream also!
Yes, it is also my birthday on Thanksgiving Day!
It also gives us time for our training classes without cutting into our riding time. We are in full planning
mode for Winter Event and Spring Fling. But before that we will be conducting the District OPS meeting at the
Patterson Park Community Center in Murfreesboro on November 23rd. We will have all the information to pass
on to the Chapter Officers so they can plan your activities for next year and insure everyone has the chance for
some “Fun”.
This is also a chance for some of you to attend even if you are not a Chapter Officer so you can see that there
really are not any secrets and you could step up and do the same. Your Chapter needs help and it is not a hard
thing. You will get a great deal of satisfaction by giving back to your Chapter. Which leads me to what happens
when a Chapter Director decides to step down and there is no one to take their place. We come to think of our
Chapters as our extended family and I for one could not imagine if my Chapter went away.
There are a few requirements for a Chapter to stay active. There must be a Director and a Treasurer. When no one steps up for these positions, GWRRA mandates that the District take certain actions. We will come to
your scheduled get together and conduct three consecutive meetings. We will try to convince someone during
that time to step up and assume leadership of the Chapter. If this does not happen by the third meeting I will
place the Chapter in an inactive status. That means there will be no further GWRRA sanctioned meeting and
eventually the Chapter will be closed. I for one do not want to see this happen and I know none of you want to
see this happen either. So for those Chapters that have the CD stepping down, please give back and take the
position to ensure the continuation of the Chapter. I can assure you myself, along with the Assistant District
Directors will be there for you every step to make sure you have all the help and knowledge required to fulfill the
duties of that position.
Now I will get off that soapbox and wish each and every one of you Happy Thanksgiving and yes go ahead
and have that extra slice of pie (or cake). You deserve it and you surely don’t want it to go to waste. If you don’t
eat it then give me a call.
Y’all be careful on the road and enjoy the holidays.

Best of the Best—Monthly Gathering
This was before the pacemaker. He sits down—he goes
to sleep. No really—Eldon says he hates to see the cam-
era coming his way. But he has to know that I am going
to take the picture. So what you see is what you get.
And here is James—always smiling!!
Tony is not tip-
ping his hat.
This hat is
about to hold
the secrets of
the new Couple
of the Year for 2014. It will
remain a secret
until the Christ-
mas dinner on
December 13th.
And the winner
is………..
This group always has fun. You know—it’s kinda like church on Sunday morning—they always take the
same seat at the meetings. Our Preacher (David) and Precious (Jeanette), Teo, Little g (Gattie) and Big
O (Oliver).
And there is Kim—with her smile. But who could blame
her this time. He is too funny! Eldon again.
13
Best of the Best—Monthly Gathering
Leisure arrivals. James strolls
in and Avery, Diane and Shirley
are already busy visiting.
Reginald has just handed out all out St. Jude new year
gear. We are ready for another fund raising year.
As you may know, we award the Deer Poop
Award to the best story since the last meeting.
You gotta hear this one.
Well the story goes that Little G (Gattie Welch)
was traveling with the Infamous Eight and they
take their necessary break at a Walmart some-where on the Florida coast. Well G knows where
the ladies rooms are. She strolls in and is taking
her break in the stall when she hears Big O’s
voice very close. O’s doing his business when he
looks down and recognizes those shoes under the
stall. He goes “G” is that you?” She’s wondering
what he is doing in the ladies room but to her
surprise G is in the men’s room. Seems the de-
sign is flipped from those at home. Yep! That not
only takes the cake—it takes the Poop award.
(No pun intended). Thanks for the laughs Gattie.
Boy, do we have fun or what!!!
Good to see Joe Terket. You do
great web page work, Joe. Don
Rinehart shares stories with Joe
while they wait for the meeting to
start.

Best of the Best-Dinner Ride to Meo Mio
Upper left picture is the ambiance you
will experience at Meo Mio. It makes it
feel Cajun.
The upper right picture are the early
arrivers. Eldon, Debbie, Nolan and me
(behind the camera) were first to arrive
and close behind us were the Davis’
(Diane and Avery).
Here at the left is the whole gang just
visiting. Nothing we like better than
visiting—oh wait—there is eating too.
That’s what makes dinner rides fun. We
REALLY like the time of FUN and fellow-
ship.
The last picture is the Mullins—Shirley
and Billy. You can always count on a
smile from Shirley. Billy sure does like
that cap. You got to ask him about his
get well card (sign) that Diane and
Avery got him. Just sayin’.
You should have been there!!!

Memories Pressed Between the Pages of My Mind!
Avery and Diane Davis—Couple of the Year 2013
You see them at everything. That’s why they are Couple of the Year 2013!! We salute you both.

Bob’s House of Honda in Jackson, TN. and Joe’s Cycle Shop in Bolivar, TN. are very supportive of Chapter TN-
N. If you are a GWRRA member and need something, be sure to tell them. They will give you a discount on
anything you buy, but tell them before they ring you up. Let’s support these businesses!
For upcoming events, if you want to see a flyer or registration form, visit
www.tngwrra.org, all flyers and registration forms are on the Events Calendar.

For Your Information

You can have loads of fun and meet a need at the same time. We REALLY REALLY REALLY need you to take a look at the Chapter Educator. I hope you (and you
know who you are) have been thinking about talking with Tony about the roles. But if you really want to know first hand how the position operates, talk with
Billy Mullins. He is an expert in that area.
There are many members here at TN-N and across the state that will be available to give you support. You are the “Safety” of the Fun, Safety, and Knowledge.
