1. Faith Blindfold Activity – Remind them that faith is believing in things we cannot see. Read and discuss Ether

12:6. Take turns blindfolding each person. Everyone find an object, describe it, and see if the blindfolded person can guess what it is. Make the final item a picture of Christ. Is it possible to have faith in Jesus even though we can’t see Him?

From the manual: “Explain that the prophet Ether tried to teach the Jaredites ‘great and marvelous things,’ but they didn’t believe what he said. Read Ether 12:5 to find out why they didn’t believe. What are some things Heavenly Father wants us to believe even though we don’t see them?”

2. Faith Song – Watch a singing time video for “Faith” from the children’s songbook such as this one or this one.

3. Faith Review Game – Print up this page from the primary manual (also on page 3 below) and follow the directions to review what some people have done because of faith. Remind them that miracles can happen if we have faith.

4. Hope – Having faith in Jesus and His gospel can give us hope. Ether 12:4 teaches that we can “hope for a better world” because of our faith in Jesus Christ.

Share this video with the story told by Dieter F. Uchtdorf of when his mom had faith and hope in a scary situation. Who did the mom have faith in and hope through?

How can Jesus help us feel hope? “The Infinite Power of Hope” by Dieter F. Uchtdorf is an awesome talk to study to go along with this.

5. Jesus Christ Can Help Me Be Strong – Explain that even the most amazing person they know isn’t perfect.

Everybody makes mistakes and has weaknesses (except for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ ). Sometimes we might fall short when it comes to faith, hope, charity, and we make mistakes. Does God love us even though we’re not perfect? (Yes!) Read/discuss/summarize Ether 12:27.

Muscle Person Picture – Give each kid a head picture from page 3 below. Have them color the head to look like themselves while talking about what an amazing person they are. (Head clipart from here)

Muscles – Even though each of us is SO amazing, our spirits aren’t perfect yet. Who can make our spirits stronger and more perfect? (Jesus) Cut out the muscle arms from page 4 and have each kid glue them onto their picture while discussing how Jesus can turn our weaknesses into strengths. Remind them that even though we can’t see our spirits, Heavenly Father and Jesus can. They know how to make our spirits strong. It’s not something we can do on our own.

What blessings come when we see our weaknesses and have faith and hope in the Lord to help make those weaknesses strong? Ether 12:37 says, “And because thou hast seen thy weakness thou shalt be made strong, even unto the sitting down in the place which I have prepared in the mansions of my Father.”

6. Friend Story – Read/discuss “Weak Things Stronger” from The Friend magazine.

Share experiences and testimonies of times when Jesus has helped us be strong, even when we felt weak, times He’s helped us learn and grow from our mistakes, etc.

7. Barbell Treat – Follow directions from this website to make these barbell treats using pretzels, gummy Lifesavers, and fudge stripe cookies.
