Jesus did not come down from the cross to

retaliate against those who were mocking him. He

gave his life to forgive them and each of us. In

families, the angry word easily flies, fueled more

by fatigue and frustration than by a deliberate

desire to hurt. Most often we don’t even realize

the impact. Pray for God’s help In our families

and seek forgiveness from each other rather than

retaliating or holding on to resentments.

Dearest St. Barnabas Family,

Although I’m a couple hundred miles away, I am still

happy to greet you on this Thanksgiving week. In the little

over a year I have been with you, God has given so many

reasons to thank him.

Right now, I am thankful for Francine Costantini and our

parish LifeTeen. As you’re reading this, I am in Indianapolis

with thousands of youth from across the country being

prepared to be missionaries and effective evangelists. This

event started when I was in high school, and while I never

went, I always wanted to, so I am thankful that Francine’s

leadership enables me to grow with and for the youth of

our parish.

I am thankful today for Erin Faetanini and the school

faculty. On Monday of this past week, Bishop Perez had the

8:30 Mass and a lively visit to the school

afterwards. Anytime that I pass through that school, the

students get fired up and excited to see their priest, but my

visit on Monday went almost unnoticed as the students

were expecting the Shepherd of our Diocese, and it was a

joy to see.

I am thankful for Fr. Ralph. Over the past 17 months, he

has embodied this year’s school motto of “Be Gentle to

All,” and he has been a calming presence during my

transition into St. Barnabas and our collective transition to

being a two-priest parish.

I am thankful to Sharon Szabo, Mike Arko, and Coeli

Ingold. Ours is a young staff, in that I am one of the more

seasoned staff-people that assemble for our weekly

meetings. Sharon, Mike, and Coeli have been a joy to work

with, to grow with, and to learn with, and we look forward

to continuing to find new ways to serve you, our parish

family.

You get where this is going, and for the sake of fitting into

the allotted space, I will stop my written thanks

here. During this Thanksgiving week, come and let all your

gratitude be made known to God as we assemble for Mass

on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.. Before you go to your tables,

come to the Table of the Lord, so that I can see and

celebrate with you, for whom I am most grateful!

God Bless You,

Fr. Matt

EARLY DEADLINE FOR FUTURE BULLETINS: Please note,

any articles for the December 8 bulletin are due no later

than Wednesday, November 27, 8:30 a.m.; articles for the

December 15 bulletin are due no later than Thursday,

December 5, 8:30 a.m. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Library continues to be a bustling, busy place. We are

currently having our annual used book sale in the hallway

outside the library. All books are 50 cents with all profits

being used to purchase new books. All books not sold will

be donated to build up a school library in Guyana. We

have been playing the "Who Was?" flash card game based

on the hugely popular "Who Was" and "Who Is"

biographies. Our school library has the complete collection

of this series, along with the "Where Is," "What Is," and

"What Was" series of historical places and events. The

children are always willing to volunteer a mini book talk/

report on books they excitedly and confidently

recommend to their peers. No shyness here when it comes

to sharing a great read! Some popular books and topics of

late are the Dog Man books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid series,

Dork Diaries series, Michael Vey series, sports, military

careers, biographies, unicorns, mermaids, pets, the Weird

but True series, children's bibles, plus the constantly

checked-out series on major businesses such as Amazon,

Google, Hershey, Nike, Hello Kitty, Sony, Disney, Nerf,

John Deere and many more. They explain the founders,

histories and value, all on kid friendly level. Once again,

we are the grateful recipients of many new books from

our PTU sponsored Scholastic Book Fair which was held

last week. Thank you PTU - for all you do for us!!

This week in your daily prayers please remember

these individuals, Seminarians at St. Mary, who

are called to the priesthood: Alexander Aldana,

Cameron Popik, Connor Hetzel, Frederick

Schlueter, Scott Swinerton, Brian Peters.

MUSIC MINISTRY The Mass of St.

Frances Cabrini is one of the most well

-known Masses in the Cleveland

Catholic Diocese and is currently one of

two musical settings of the Mass

recommended by our Mother Church. During the month of

November, we will start singing some of these Mass parts,

beginning with the Holy, Holy, the Mystery of Faith and

Great Amen. Music Director Coeli Ingold will take a few

minutes before most Masses to teach these acclamations to

you. We encourage you to come early to Masses in

November to learn these acclamations, in order to be able

to worship the Lord most fully in sung prayer!

After Thanksgiving, Black Friday

and Cyber-Monday, it will be time

to kickoff a season of giving. On

Tuesday, December 3, starting at

12 a.m., visit wegivecatholic.org

and make a donation to St. Barnabas Parish. You will have

24 hours to make donations, and all giving will end at 11:59

p.m. on December 3. Visit our parish website:

www.stbarnabasfamily.org to view Fr. Matt’s videos to

learn more about how the funds will be used.

This Thanksgiving, let us remember all the

good things and people that have come

into our lives. We focus on thanking each

one who has helped us, and ultimately

thank God for the good gifts of this

world.

Let us pray…

God our Father, Graciously accept from your humble

people a thankful heart and spirit. Everything we have and

are able to share with others ultimately comes from your

love of your creations. Often we think that everything we

have is our own creation; we ask you this day to create in

us a spirit of gratitude, that we may always know that all

good gifts come from you. We ask this through Christ our

brother, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

50+ COMMUNITY Today, we honor Christ as our

King. How do we do this? We honor Him best by helping

to spread the Kingdom here, as members of this church

community and with our own individual lives as well. The

Good Thief asks Jesus to remember him when he comes into

His kingdom. Whenever we read about kings, many of

them are not concerned about the people they govern.

Jesus was and is one of us. His throne was the cross, His

crown was made of thorns. His suffering and death gained a

place for us in heaven. The cross is a powerful reminder of

Jesus' love beyond measure. Joyce Rupp writes a meditation

called: “A Place Beneath the Cross.” We have all stood at

the foot of the cross at some time in our lives. "When love is

the motivation for what we do, one can wait beneath a

cross for a very long time."

Please take the time to review the brochures for Lancaster

and Savannah trips and consider signing up and placing a

down payment for them. We are months away from the

travel dates but reservations need to be confirmed for some

venues. It would be good for me to make contact and

reinforce our interest. Christmas luncheon tickets are still

available. Come and join us on December 13. Tickets: Carol

330-467-4810, Trip information: Marie 330-467-9747.

New and cancelled postage stamps are being

collected for the School Library, Philippine

Missions and St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

Place stamps in the basket located near the

exit door in the Gathering Space. Thank you

for your help!

Incoming freshmen through

graduated seniors

are welcome to StBLT events!

LIFE NIGHTS Every Sunday evening we gather from 5:30-

8:30 p.m. – all high school teens welcome! We start in the

church with Mass, then have dinner, fun, and faith.

XLT On Thursday, December 12, from 6:15-10:15 p.m.,

praise and worship music at the seminary with teens from

around the diocese. Reconciliation will also be available.

December 10.

MARCH FOR LIFE Take a stand for life on January 23-

24! Each year around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade,

when the Supreme Court legalized abortion in America, we

go to Washington, D.C. to participate in the March for Life.

If you would like to come and join your voice with the

100,000s of others, sign up quickly! Due to the generosity

of the Catholic Slovak Ladies Association who provide our

busing, the cost is only $20. We have very limited spots, so

get your forms in ASAP if you'd like to attend. Consent

forms are available on our website.

not hesitate to call.

OUR MISSION: TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR.... SVDP

DONATIONS ALWAYS NEEDED Please consider giving to

the St. Vincent de Paul here at St. Barnabas this holiday

season, where 100% of your donation goes directly to the

people we serve. There is no overhead; no administration

costs and all services are volunteered. Contributors are

assured their donations are treated responsibly - not many

charities can say that. We manage and support many

ministries. Not only do we help local families through our

confidential home visits (food, utilities, rent, gas, etc.), but

we also provide emergency help for transients and

homeless, support hot meal programs and outreach centers ,

and provide financial assistance for immediate needs in El

Salvador (metal roofs, meds, doctor visits, etc.). The needs

are great and we are overwhelmed with requests for

assistance. Please remember that people need help all year

long, not just the holidays. We can only continue our

ministries with your help. Just use your monthly SVDP

envelope or use the poor boxes at the back of the church.

We thank God for your continued trust, generosity and

support of our mission: To Love Our Neighbor.

St. Barnabas parishioners are remarkably generous. Thank

you for sharing a portion of your income with the Church -

thank you so much for your faith and generosity!

May God bless you!

Please be generous in this weekend’s special collection

which supports the Catholic Campaign for Human

Development. In the United States, one in six people lives

in poverty. Through this collection you support programs

that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable

future for people across the country who struggle. In

addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our

diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please

prayerfully consider how you can support this collection

and work on the margins. More information about the

Catholic Campaign for Human Development can be found

at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection.

Thanksgiving is a day to thank God

for the blessings that he has

bestowed upon us during the year

and to look within ourselves to see

how we can best use our talent and treasure to help others.

This year, St. Barnabas is building upon that feeling of

generosity and compassion by asking our parishioners to

prayerfully consider enrolling in eGiving for your recurring

weekly offering. By using eGiving you are supporting our

parish's shared mission to give back to others and spread

the word of God. We are excited about all the miraculous

work our parish can do in our community, with your

support. Enrolling in eGiving is a safe and secure way to

give to our parish and getting started is easy—just visit

faith.direct/OH913 or text the word ENROLL to 330-886-

4510. Your gifts and your participation are a blessing to us.

Notes from the Blue Army In his book, The Rosary, Chain

of Hope, Fr. Groeschel composed prayers to help us

meditate on each mystery. Prayer for the First Joyful

Mystery, The Annunciation. O Lord Jesus Christ, You come

to us in mystery and generosity. Your coming is totally

beyond the human mind because You are God, yet You are

totally comprehensible to us because You became an infant

child. Thy mysteries of heaven and earth come together in

this little baby. Give us the grace, O Lord, to kneel in

adoration before Your divinity incarnate in this world.

Amen.

thanks, St. Barnabas, you never disappoint whenever your

assistance is requested. Debbie Victory.

DID YOU KNOW that at eight weeks into a pregnancy, the

baby is well-proportioned and about the size of a

thumb? Every organ is present. The liver is making blood,

the kidneys function, and the heart beats steadily!

PRAY THE ROSARY FOR PRO-LIFE INTENTIONS every

Saturday after the 8:30 a.m. Mass. Babies have been saved

from death by abortion through prayers.

Intercessory Prayer to St. Monica

Dear St, Monica, troubled wife and mother, many

sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime. Yet, you

never despaired or lost faith. With confidence, persistence,

and profound faith, you prayed daily for the conversion of

your beloved husband, Patricius, and your beloved son,

Augustine; your prayers were answered. Grant me that same

fortitude, patience, and trust in the Lord. Intercede for me,

dear St. Monica, that God may favorably hear my plea for

(name of family member, friend or others) and grant me the

grace to accept His will in all things, through Jesus Christ our

Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and

ever. Amen.
