Hello to my favorite people, you the reader. Ive had an in-flux of attention lately with so many new comers movinghere in Freeport. I get approached and am becoming more

recognized from the locals throughout Walton county. I guess after 6yrs.People see me every other Wed. Reliable, dependable and to top that, we offer the lowest

prices available in this county for advertising. Your Advertisement helps your friends andfellow neighbors of Freeport and the surrounding areas receive a FREE Newspaper. Noone can compete with us, for what we have to offer you, is detail. AND ITS FREE!

You know last weeks Editorial raised a few eyebrows because so many people aroundus are getting viral sickness, even more cases of gastro problems are showing up in a fewschools here in Walton county. We will eventually encounter new diseases.get checked.

Its tough enough for these kids today to try and grasp this new way of learning. Ithink it is back firing on the system to have common core education. Many of todaysteachers here in Walton are teaching subjects they know nothing about. They give thestudents a book and tell them to figure it out? I see how cutbacks in the system may havemade this situation occur. I could be wrong, but I know from experience. I see plenty of

young kids in the county without a direction towards a better tomorrow. We have nothinghere for them to aspire to settle here cause there arent jobs for families to be raised goodwith benefits. Going to college? Good Luck, I dont see degrees paying off the long run.

Im sure the number is high for the number families in need of assistance from thegovt. But dont you see, that also has become a problem? You get more from not working, raising kids and receive benefits for the children. Wheres the incentive to the parents, toshow their kids what it is to work everyday and how hard work does pay off. Persistencyand a drive from within, to get to a higher level of living for yourself and your family.

Dont just settle for a passing grade. Kids, if you dont know what your expected toknow by the time you hit college, your so far behind the curve, most just drop out andlook for work. I have encountered several teachers and a past principal who didnt help thestudent, when they ask for tutor from just wanting to understand a subject? They say no

child left behind? Just cause they pass doesnt mean they have graduated with a skill orenough brain knowledge about a certain subject, to dive into a career that will pay well, toretire there and such. The American dream? What is your dream? Or do you just exist?

I havent seen many jobs like that around these parts thats why I do other work as wellas this newspaper. Still I offer help, to you citizens by doing handyman work and help theelderly repair things, in a fair price for them. I have a desire to help others, be appreciatedfor what I have done. It makes the job all worth it. At church or at work, help others.

Most everyone I know with a good job drives across the bridge and down into Destin.Have you all notice what is coming in from the East along Hwy. 98? Shades the beer bar? That whole intersection has brought in businesses looking like Pier Park. What an ideathat was for Panama City. That too has grown so fast and they are filled with large name

brand companies. A lot is retail but it offers work or even a second job, if needed.Again, I hear of the rumors of the Publix ground breaking along Hwy 331. That initself will change the dynamics of Freeport. I see signs all over for home sales, looks like

plenty of land still available too. This can be a very nice welcoming place to visit or liveyear round. But the attitude against progress and growth must change into opening youreyes. Imagine a place you are proud to be from? Really proud? If not, dont complain.

Over the years I have had plenty encounters with local officials from school board tocode enforcement. There are too many people in these positions that do not understand thelaws, what they can and what they seem not to do. The more I have investigated othercomplaints. Ive learned of several law suits in the county over land disagreements. I toowas lied to buy seller about the driveway I drove into to buy our land/home, wasnt evenon the property I purchased? TRUE, its all in court records. Did the man/wife make the

deal right by signing the driveway to be included to reach our garage? NO..sue? Yes,and was hornswaggled by attorneys and their game of mediation, instead of a judgeenforcing a ruling. A Man of his word? Ha! How many do you know that are? Real Men?

Trust me, that has been a crawl in my shorts, since I had to survey over bad neighborissues. Privacy fence, security, all in place because of untrusting people taking advantageof the lack of system in this county. Get your property surveyed, again. Before you lose it.

There are setback rules in place already by county, state and local city. But do youthink enforcement of obvious violators would be strongly dealt with? No, not here inWalton county. Unless you (a citizen) complain and I mean dont stop, be vigilante andinsist that these people do their duty, their jobs. Stay on top. They too can also be replacedfor lack of duty just like a cop. Each has a duty. They work for your rights.

Hopefully you Voted for people who will help get the road map to our next 10 yearsto be more enjoyable. Let residents live in peace. If the county took the time to drive andquestion boundries and ensure property distances of buildings and easements and roads sothey can all be clear and presentable, safe for driving. Buildings being built that are withinsetbacks shall be forced to be moved or you will be fined daily, as they say from code. Wewill see because the number of cases are going to grow once people realize they have beendeceived. Zoned residential for a reason, no business permitted. Sounds logical to me.

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness tochange; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened orin saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back.

A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.

The term "pervasive developmental disorders," also called PDDs, refersto a group of conditions that involve delays in the development of many

basic skills. Most notable among them are the ability to socialize withothers, to communicate, and to use imagination. Children with theseconditions often are confused in their thinking and generally have prob-

lems understanding the world around them.

Because these conditions typically are identified in children around 3years of age -- a critical period in a child's development -- they are

called developmental disorders. The condition actually starts far earlierthan age 3, but parents often do not notice a problem until the child is atoddler who is still not walking, talking, or developing in the ways other

children of the same age are.

Autism:Children with autism have problems with social interaction, pretend play, and communication. They also have a limited range ofactivities and interests. Many -- nearly three out of every four -- childrenwith autism also have some degree of intellectual disability. Childrenwith autism can frequently have seizures as well as low muscle tone.

They also have underlying anxiety and resistance to change.

Asperger's syndrome:Like children with autism, children with Asper-ger's syndrome have difficulty with social interaction and communica-tion. They also have a narrow range of interests. However, children withAsperger's have average or above average intelligence and develop nor-mally in the areas of language and cognition (the mental processes re-lated to thinking and learning). Children with Asperger's often have dif-ficulty concentrating and may have poor coordination. Asperger's isusually not recognized until children have enough language skills to

show a limited focus and unusual patterns of speech.

Childhood disintegrative disorder:Children with this rare conditionbegin their development normally in all areas, physical and mental. Atsome point, usually between 2 and 10 years of age, a child with thisillness loses many of the skills he or she has developed. In addition to

the loss of social and language skills, a child with disintegrative disordermay lose control of other functions, including bowel and bladder con-trol. Not all medical scientists agree that CDD should be considered adistinct disorder separate from other disorders in what is known as the

    autism spectrum.

Pervasive development disorder, not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS):This category is used to refer to children who have significant

problems with communication and play, and some difficulty interactingwith others, but are too social to be considered autistic. It's sometimes

referred to as a milder form of autism.

Healthmark Health Matters-Under the Florida sun

Skin cancer, which is the abnormal growth of skincells, most often develops on skin exposed to the sun.In Florida, which attracts suns-worshipper by themillions, skin cancer is a real problem. However, according to researchers at Mayo Clinic, this commonform of cancer can also occur on areas of skin notordinarily exposed to sunlight.

The best way to reduce the risk of skin cancer is bylimiting or avoiding exposure to ultraviolet (UV)

radiation caused by the sun. Skin cancer usuallydevelops primarily on areas of sun-exposed skin, including the scalp, face, lips, ears, neck, chest, armsand hands, and on the legs in women. Checking theskin for suspicious changes can often lead to detectionof skin cancer at its earliest stages. Early detection

provides the greatest chance for successful skin cancertreatment.

There are three major types of skin cancerbasalcell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and mela-noma. Basal cell carcinoma usually occurs in sun-

exposed areas, such as the neck or face and may ap-pear as a pearly or waxy bump, a flat, flesh-colored orbrown scar-like lesion. Squamous cell carcinoma alsooccurs on sun-exposed areas of the body. People withdarker skin are more likely to develop squamous cellcarcinoma on areas that aren't often exposed to thesun. Squamous cell carcinoma may appear as a firm, red nodule or a flat lesion with a scaly, crustedsurface.

Melanoma can develop anywhere on your body, inotherwise normal skin or in an existing mole that

becomes cancerous. Make an appointment with a

physician if you notice any changes to your skin. Aphysician can investigate skin changes to determine acause. For more information about the early detectionand treatment of skin cancer, contact Dr. EdwardTenewitz at Healthmark Walk-In Clinic in DeFuniakSprings, (850) 951-4556.

Could Collapse At Anytime: When It Ends,

All Hell Is Going To Break LooseBack in 2008, we got a taste of what a massive economic and financial crashlooks like. Millions of jobs were lost, tens of millions of people became depend-

ent on government assistance, and trillions of dollars in wealth were wiped outalmost overnight. It happens fast and it often comes without any warning to the general public.

In 2008 they were able restore some confidence in the system through massiveinfusions of cash and a healthy dose of mainstream propaganda. But nearly

seven years on, as Michael Snyder points out in his analysis below, the systemis now more dependent on big banking cartels and centralized government

than ever before. And, because the underlying issues behind the crash of 2008

have never been resolvedthings like massive debt and leverage, for example

we now sit on the brink of a disaster so large that it literally threatens thestability of the entire planet. One misstep here and were not just looking at a

stock market crash or more job losses, but a shift in the world order. And given

what weve seen throughout history from the elite decision makers in our

society, we should fully expect that the worst is coming.headlines all over the world for crossing vast distances on a high-wire withouta safety net. Well, that is essentially what our too big to fail banks are doingevery single day. With each passing year, these banks have become even morereckless, and so far there have not been any serious consequences. But without a doubt, someday there will be.What would you say about a bookie that took $200,000 in bets but that only

had $10,000 to cover those bets? You would certainly call that bookie a fool. But that is what our big banks are doing.Right now, JPMorgan Chase has more than 67 trillion dollars in exposure toderivatives but it only has 2.5 trillion dollars in assets.Right now, Citibank has nearly 60 trillion dollars in exposure to derivatives but

it only has 1.9 trillion dollars in assets.

Right now, Goldman Sachs has more than 54 trillion dollars in exposure to

derivatives but it has less than a trillion dollars in assets.

Right now, Bank of America has more than 54 trillion dollars in exposure toderivatives but it only has 2.2 trillion dollars in assets.Right now, Morgan Stanley has more than 44 trillion dollars in exposure to

derivatives but it has less than a trillion dollars in assets. Most people have absolutely no ideahow incredibly vulnerable ourfinancial system really is.

The truth is that thesetoo big to fail bankscould collapse at anytime. And when they fail, oureconomy will fail too.So let us hope and pray

that this brief period offalse stability lasts for aslong as possible.

Because when it ends, allhell is going tobreak loose.

Little AkioThe teacher said, "Let's begin by reviewing

some American History. Who said 'Give meLiberty , or give me Death'?"She saw a sea of blank faces, except for LittleAkio, a bright foreign exchange student fromJapan , who had his hand up: "Patrick Henry,1775," he said."Very good! -- Who said, 'Government of thePeople, by the People, for the People, shallnot perish from the Earth'?"Again, no response except from Little Akio:"Abraham Lincoln, 1863."

"Excellent!" said the teacher continuing,"Let's try one a bit more difficult -- Who said,'Ask not what your country can do for you,

but what you can do for your country'?"Once again, Akio's was the only hand in theair and he said: "John F. Kennedy, 1961."The teacher snapped at the class, "Class, youshould be ashamed of yourselves, Little Akioisn't from this country and he knows moreabout our history than you do."She heard a loud whisper: "F_ _ k the Japs.""Who said that? -- I want to know right now!?

she angrily demanded.Little Akio put his hand up, "GeneralMacArthur, 1945."At that point, a student in the back said, "I'mgonna puke.'The teacher glares around and asks, 'All right!-- Now who said that?"Again, Little Akio says, "George Bush to theJapanese Prime Minister, 1991."

Now furious, another student yells, "Oh yeah?-- Suck this!"Little Akio jumps out of his chair waving hishand and shouts to the teacher, "Bill Clinton,to Monica Lewinsky, 1997!"

Now with almost mob hysteria someone said,"You little shit! -- If you say anything else --I'll kill you!"Little Akio frantically yells at the top of hisvoice, "Michael Jackson to the childrentestifying against him, 2004."The teacher fainted. As the class gatheredaround the teacher on the floor, someone said,"Oh shit, We're screwed!"

Little Akio said quietly, "The Americanpeople, November 4, 2008."

Dear Editor,I enjoyed last weeks edition with the com-

mentary you gave was very impressive. I hopeto God the Christians come out in massivecrowds to cast a vote. No matter where youlive, get people you trust. Politicians haveagendas, mostly hidden. Dont trust the govt.IRS or even the police, for they too have beenseen across this nation as a problem than beingthe safety factor for us citizens who pay theirsalaries. We need righteousness again.

Your newspaper intrigues me and I hopeplenty of the new advertisers will stay for awhole year so you can add those 4 missed

pages you have talked about. My husband and I rush to get our copy as

soon as you are out with the new edition. Wewish you all the success and pray for yoursuccess to last for years to come. God Bless.

    Dorothy Hennenger

Dear Editor,I have a complaint and would like to see if

this embarrassment of this to the county theywill correct what has been wrong for too long.

Of course I live here for over 45 yrs andthen these neighbors begin to extend their

property lines and even reshape our roads withthis nonsense.

No code Enforcement, why have one? They agree its wrong but say they cant touchit? So, what does Code Enforcement really do,except give extra time for violators to exist?

I live on 3280 Black Creek, my neighborhas extended her property with signs thathinder the path of our road on Sadler Circleyet nothing and no one does anything aboutthis. Police? Nothing, admits shes crazy andlaughs. Yet the sign in the road remains.

Ill tell you this county needs to step up.Make the roads that are maintained by thecounty enforceable and well defined enoughfor 2 cars to pass each other. If surveys showsit and county system shows it, yet no one doesanything about it unless you complain somuch they no longer want to talk with you.

    Ray Clement

BTWI been there long before any otherperson was there to begin with. Ray

If you cant tell, the list is rising as more andmore people are now caught without permitsand zoning requirements. If the people incharge cant handle what the public expectsfrom enforcement and property line issues.Keep E-mailing us and we are putting files.

There's much to discuss (mainly asset-management). This could be family-related too and yes, it may bethat concern about a relative's position prompts you to think about your own long-term situation. Thoughyour sign is said to be one of the more 'futuristic thinking', it's also appears true that you are resistant tochange. This week you may be reminded that change doesn't have to be a negative thing.

If you've been playing it straight, then perhaps there's nothing to worry about but if there are loose ends totidy up and uncomfortable facts to face, Though it might appear that others have the upper-hand and thatyou need to play by their rules, it's likely that all they want is to arrive at a settlement. Your task is to find

agreement and ensure that what's then agreed is firm and acceptable.

It's sure to accentuate your need for freedom and independence. Yet you need something to be independentfrom, so it's highly likely that relationship matters are particularly compelling presently. It's perhaps fair tosay that some people may be finding you too hot to handle whilst at the same time really wanting you on

    their team.

Though you may be overwhelmed by tasks that simply have to be managed 'today', time does need to be setaside to discuss options for 2015 and which tasks can now be passed further down the line. Just how goodare you at delegating? This could be quite a theme this week. A further possibility is that a certain group of

people will be delighted with work you've presented and, maybe, ask if you can take on more - but have thiscompleted by the end of the month.

Though you might not think so, what you've achieved is no doubt considerable and worthy of accolade. It's aslikely though that one working relationship needs to be brought to an end or put on fresh footing altogether.A frank exchange of views - where you're given space to discuss what you'd really enjoy doing as opposed towhat HAS to be done, could take place, be ready for it to go down.

It may be that work has to be carried out or that you determine there's a degree of 'sorting out' to do beforeend of year festivities. It could be argued that this is the optimum time to carry out this exercise and that anexchange of items with friends or within an affiliated group will prove beneficial to all. In short, bartering,

buying and selling looks as though it might take up a fair amount of time.

It's perhaps not so much that you need to move but that the arrival of new colleagues requires a shift in rou-tines. It might also be that you need to move furniture or add extra security. This week contains a Full Moon

and it might seem to you that some people are being unreasonable or that they're working to old regulations.

Much of what happens now may be related to that commitment. What seems important is to ensure you havegood contacts that you can then use should the going get tough. Around the Full Moon then you might con-sider updating your database or even starting a new one containing just those 'specials who could guide youwith your enduring desire to be management material. Look at me, you say a lot.

It may be that this marks a natural time-line in that there may be something you want and need to finish be-fore then. It might also be that there's much you need to discuss regarding on-going commitments and whatcould now be set aside. Not for the first time you may be realizing that there are certain routines now pasttheir sell-by-date. On top of that, you might also agree that space-clearing mode you got.

In short, it may be time for a rethink. Note that yours is a sign with rich imagination and that there are timeswhen you tune into undercurrents that might well dissipate given time. This week it's not so much that yourfears are unreal and perhaps more the case that you need others to listen carefully to what you feel to havelearnt (especially since September) and to gain through your increased understanding. People cant read yourmind, open your mouth and spread good, kind words of encouragement. Even to yourself.

The issue of diet and personal fitness is likely to be raised around this time too. It may be that you decide tocut sugar out of your diet completely - perhaps not so much because you want to lose weight but because yousense that sugar (or something else) is acting as a friend that is faking it. They are to be trusted and you al-ready thoughts of doubt in this person or persons you know too well. Bad news if you stay.

A project that gathered momentum back in September could now gather pace. Though it might not be deemed

necessary by some, it's possible you'll feel you have something to prove. Rules, regulations and contracts mightalso require careful scrutiny in the run up to Thursday's Full Moon. What might then be clear is exactly who youneed to win over. Old-fashioned charm and courtesy could win the day before the weekend is all yours! Getready for another busy week next week, but dont worry you can handle anything.

She has been sad and stays inside herhouse a lot.Bel returned to Alaqua recently after graduating from the Unconditional Love Program. During

her stay at Bay Correctional Facility, she became deeply bonded to her trainer over the fourmonths she was there and she misses him very much. In a closing letter about Bel to us her trainersaid, A closing suggestion, If possible, would be to expedite Bels stay at the shelter as I fear hermodicum of social skills may begin to wane. Seems funny they got time for this and then even screw it up. People who call and write to file

complaints are that way because this organization has turned a blind eye to residents rights.

Drug Prevention Grant For Walton CountyGood news, the Walton County Prevention Coalition will get $125,000 to prevent youth sub-stance use. And the even better news, the grant will continue for over five years for a total of

$625,000. October is National Substance Abuse Prevention Month. The Walton County Prevention Coalition is chaired by Shayne Betts. Betts says we are not pow-erless against the challenge of drug use among young people here in Walton County. She saysthe funding will allow the Coalition to help place more young people on the path towards successand enable them to live healthier and safer lives. According to Betts, research shows that preven-tion is the most effective tool they have to reduce the terrible consequences associated with druguse among young people. Underage drinking rates among Walton County youth has declinedover the past 10 years by 10%. Currently 27% of Walton County students have used alcoholmore than a sip in the last 30 days. Binge drinking rates of 5 or more drinks in a single settinghas dropped to the current rate of 15% after peaking in 2008 at 21%.Youth reported a substantial 7.5% reduction in the past 30 day cigarette use of the last 10 years.Currently only 11.5% of youth have smoked in the last month with 32% reporting cigarette use

in their lifetime down 19% over 10 years. Marijuana use among Walton County students hasdeclined over the past 10 years by 4%. Currently 14% of Walton County students have usedmarijuana within the last 30 days. The gender of youth who use marijuana is nearly evenly split.Methamphetamine use by students has continued to drop since 2001 by a total of 10%. Since11% of students reported using in 2001, this represents an overall 90% reduction on the numberof youth reporting having used Meth. Currently 1.1% of students report using the drug in life-

Smells of the HolidaysBy Rian LydayYes, it IS already November! Where has the year disap-

peared to? The holidays are sneaking up on us, Christ-mas music on the radio and stores decked out in red and green. So manyvisual stimulations and sounds are related to this time of year but whatabout smell? The nose, our often overlooked sense, is responsible for somuch of what we love in life. We make unusual connections with oursniffer and memories. I can smell a certain hair product and think ofscuba diving in the CaribbeanI used it every time I got back on the

boat. The smell of oranges makes me think of mornings in my home-town, where Tropicana was started. And when I was little, I called the

perfume my Mom always wore My Home Smell, because it did justthat, remind me of home. Why do scents recall memories for us?Wellthe olfactory bulb is part of the brain's limbic system, which isassociated with memory and feeling, and sometimes called the"emotional brain." The first time you smell a new scent, you link it toan event, a person, a thing or a moment. Your brain creates a link be-tween the smell and a memory so that, when you encounter the smell

again, the link is already there, ready to elicit a memory or a mood. So the next time yousmell lavender and think of summer at Grandmas or vanilla conjures the image of Christ-mas morning, you will understand why.So what are Americans favorite scents? A recent study was done and the results may sur-

    prise you:

Hot dogs: Head to any sports stadium or major metropolitan area in the U.S., and theresthat smoky, chemically stabilized meat scent. At first, people visiting the US are afraid ofthis strange meat in a bunbut before long people are drawn in and they realize that thisstrange meat smell signifies intense deliciousness.Apple pie: Whether it is the real thing or an artificial reproduction funneled into an airfreshener, sweet apple pie smell permeates Americafrom its cafes and fast food joints toshops and homes.Cinnamon: U.S. supermarkets, restaurants, malls and department stores tend to smell ofcinnamon. Some people cannot tolerate the smell while others revel in it!Vanilla: Every American recipe for a sweet baked good calls for vanilla goodness. Thesmell is delicious, if a little overpowering.Pumpkin spice: Around late October, pumpkins take over America. And so does theirsweet aroma. But surprisingly, the unadorned flesh of these resplendent gourds doesnt

smell very nice at all. (Think rotting vegetable odor.) But put it in a pie, blend in sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice, and it becomes a completely differentand delicious-smellingbeast.Coffee: Java is a way of life in the USA, so its reliably found in the scent mix anywherethat people gather. Bacon and maple syrup:The most aromatic example is pancakes with

bacon slathered in maple syrup. Breathe in deep next time you order a short stack. Bacon, alone, has taken over the United States!Fast food: America produces so much of the stuff the smell can be extremely concentrated. This should be revolting but, sadly for our arteries and waistlines, is the exact opposite.Air conditioning: Public buildings in the U.S. seem to keep the A/C on no matter what thetemperature is outside. Everywhere you go, that smell permeates the air and oddly enough,

its not unpleasant but relaxing. Laundry: In cities like New York where its common forpeople to do their washing at Laundromats, the air can be thick with soapy flowers andchemically reproduced meadow smell. You might actually find yourself pausing at thosesweet spots on the high street where the scented air is most concentrated to breathe it in.
