WEEKLY GRACE NOTES Sunday, November 16, 2014
Prayer Before Worship
Almighty God, we pray, show your humble servants your mercy that we, who put no trust in our own merits, may be dealt with not according to the severity of your judgment but according to your mercy; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

THE LORD’S SUPPER
Here our Lord gives to us His own Body and Blood
for the forgiveness of all our sins
Our Family celebrates The Lord’s Supper on the 1st
& 3rd
Sundays of
the month, confessing that our Lord feeds us with His very body and
blood for our forgiveness. Please use these statements for your
own self-examination in preparation for communion.
The apostle Paul wrote, “Everyone should examine himself first, and then eat of the
bread and drink from the cup” (1 Corinthians 11:28)
1. I am a baptized child of God who is sorry for my sins and admits my need for
forgiveness before God. (1 John 1:9)
2. I believe that my sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for
them with His suffering and death on the cross. (Romans 5:9-11)
3. I believe that as I receive the bread and wine of this sacred meal, that I also receive
the true body and blood of Christ through which I receive the full forgiveness of
my sins in this sacrament. (Matthew 26:26-28)
4. As I receive forgiveness, I recognize that God is calling me to change my sinful
ways and live in a way that pleases Him. (Romans 12:2)
5. I understand that the Lord’s Supper is for those who have been instructed in its
meaning and power and join in this joyful confession. (1 Corinthians 11:27-29)

SUNDAY BIBLE STUDIES
Sunday Bible Studies begin at 9:45am.
The Great Deceiver - It should come as no surprise that an adversary fit to be
called the “god of this world” and the “power of darkness” is a force to be reck-
oned with. And so he is. In “The Great Deceiver” we will explore a being so diabol-
ical he will stop at nothing to separate us from God. Meet us in the Conference
room for this important study.
God-Centered Worldview - How you look at the world matters!
Please join us in the Sanctuary as we open God’s Word and look at the world we
live in, our prayer is that this study will help you to be grounded in your faith and
gracious in your witness.

TUESDAY BIBLE STUDIES
Men’s Bible Study - 6:30am here at Grace in the Conference room.
This study explores our vocation and how we, as children of God, have a place in God’s heavenly kingdom. We also have been given a new status here in God’s earthly kingdom. We will look at this dichotomy and how we balance our lives as Christians in a secular world.
Tuesday Life Light - Will resume on Tuesday, November 18.
This is our tenth year! God has blessed our shoebox ministry! To date, OCC has distributed over one million shoeboxes, bringing Christmas joy and the gift of Jesus to children all over the world. Here at Grace, we have shipped 1972 boxes. Praise the Lord! We want to celebrate this year by setting our goal at 300 boxes.
Each of us can fill a box or two. If no time, a monetary donation is useful (we have elves who love to shop). Purchase a few items and place them in the laundry basket beneath the table in the Gathering Room.
Can’t afford the $7.00 shipping fee? Not to worry, that will be taken care of.
Deadline to turn in filled shoeboxes is: Sunday, November 23.
