Freshman

Introductions

My name is Jacob Carandang, here are a few facts

about myself. I love band and I am part of the

Chino Hills High Drumline. My favorite genre of mu-

sic is alternative rock. KEY Club is definitely one of

my favorite groups to be a part of. Becoming class

of 2016 representative is one of the greatest high-

lights of my freshman year so far and I hope to be-

come closer to the rest of the KEY Club members

from Chino Hills and many other schools. I also like

to take pride in my Filipino side although people

say they would have never guessed I was Filipino. I

enjoy passing time with friends and family as well

as going to drumline competitions and KEY Club

events. KEY Club has definitely been a huge part

of my year and if I never joined, I would be missing

out on an amazing group of people who help do amaz- ing things for the commu-

nity.

-Jacob Carandang

My name's Maureen Tang and I'm a

freshman. I love to dance and I'm on the

JV song team. I and very outgoing and I

love making new friends. In my spare

time, I enjoy walking my dog, baking

cupcakes, and listening to music. Aside

from Key Club, I am also involved in Let It

Be and Leo Club. I have two older broth-

ers and a toy poodle named Cookie.

President’s note President’s note

Dear CHHS Key Clubbers,

November has been such a productive month-from several service projects for Thanks-

giving and the winter seasonal events to the amazing, SPIRITED, Fall Rally! I cannot be

any more proud as you all take advantage of the

service events provided to earn your service pro-

jects. But remember, Key Club is not just about

Community Service, it’s about LOVING Communi-

ty Service. I hope that through each experience,

you can find a part of the service project that

you truly cherish- a small “thank you” from an

adult or even a smile you get as you help a kid

gift wrap his present in Barnes and Nobles.

As December comes, a new year is about to

begin. And, you know what that means- a New

Year of SERVICE, a New Year of GOALS, a New

Year of ACHIEVEMENT, and a New Year of *A

NEW OFFICER BOARD*. I cannot emphasize

enough what a wonderful experience it is to be

part of the Key Club officer board. You build a

family; you grow to be a great leader; you be-

come deeply in love with the Key Club institution.

My advice to stand out is to TAKE INITIATIVE and

to think about what position you may want to go

for as elections come up in late January. I wish

you the best of luck in your decision and any of-

ficer on the board is available to you about his/

her experience and advice for running as an of-

ficer!

Yours in Service,

Amy He

How's it going Key Clubbers?

This month we have been very busy

with the holiday season! From

Barnes&Nobles gift-wrapping to

making Christmas cards for our

teachers, there has been so many

opportunities for members to be in-

volved and have fun prior to the hol-

idays.

With the upcoming December

DCM, things can only get better!

Members are encouraged to come

to this event because it will be coin-

ciding with our ice skating social

event.

Take the time

to get to know

new people

from the divi-

sion and par-

ticipate in as

many of the

holiday events

before the

year ends and

the new year

begins!

Hello Key

Clubbers! We've

had a busy past

month but that's

just the beginning.

While winter break

is coming up, so

are many volun-

teering opportuni-

ties. Barnes and

Nobles Gift wrap-

ping and Isaiah's

Rock are events that really express

the holiday spirit. If you didn't get a

chance to go to Isaiah's Rock dur-

ing November, I highly recommend

going in December. Don't forget to

go the annual boat parade; it's the

day after school's out for winter

break and should be lots of fun.

Hope to see you all at events ^^ !

November DCM

Rain. Cold wind. Mud. None

of these can stop key clubbers

from attending a DCM! On De-

cember 2nd, key clubbers from

all over Division 15 attended the

DCM. Besides the regular going

over of club activities we dis-

cussed upcoming divisional and

district events. Keep your Satur-

days open in January for Host

Club, a fundraiser/social/game

night, and D15 Winter Formal!

Let's not forget DCON is coming

up- an awesome time with Key

Clubbers from all over! Remem-

ber- members are always wel-

come at DCMs and can keep track of

all the events if they attend. Hope to

see you all at future DCMs.

Seasonal Gift

Wrapping

There's no better way to get

into the Christmas spirit than to

WRAP GIFTS FOR HOURS AND

HOURS! CHHS Key Club is very

lucky to be able to wrap gifts at

Barnes and Noble around the

Holiday Season for all the Christ-

mas shoppers. There's

pretty wrapping paper,

jolly Christmas music,

and holiday cheer alI

around. But the best

part is to work with your

fellow Key Clubbers as

you serve the custom-

ers. Gift wrapping at

Barnes and Nobles is

one of the most fun events and

a great way to end the year!

Intro to Boat Parade

We are basically raising money for

the club, but in this movement, key

clubbers get to enjoy the Boat parade

and raising the Christmas Spirit as a

community. Students from surround

schools come out to watch this event

and including our very own Chino Hills

High Choir will be caroling for dona-

tions. Hundreds of people come out to

watch this event and enjoy the festive mo-

ments that we see each year. Last years Boat

Parade was excellently drawn out and

planned, knowing that this year will not fail to

impress.

Counting

Our Key Clubbers had

taken on the initiative to

allocate money towards

Project Jumpstart and over

a course of 2 weeks our

Key Clubbers collected

over 500 dollars of dona-

tions towards the cause.

This process was not only life changing but also fun. Every-

one was provided with Unicef’s festive Halloween Boxes

and the counting of a plethora of coins and bills kept

adding on. Great Job Key Clubbers, looking forward to

another successful Unicef event next year!

The Habit In the month of November, members of CHHS

Key Club hungrily munched away on delicious

burgers from The Habit: Burger Grill in Chino Hills.

The Habit happily hosted a fundraiser for key club

funds, by generously donating 20% of anyone's'

purchase to our club. If you missed November's

date, be sure to look out for future Habit fundrais-

er nights in the future for this has become a

monthly event!

isaiah’s rock

For the month of November, Key Club

continued to maintain the stable relationship

they have with Isaiah's Rock. Isaiah's Rock is a

wonderful organization that manages to

package and send out food, as well as other

necessities, to families in the community that

cannot afford it. This month, we supported

them through packaging bundles of food at

their residence. Additionally, we helped

through the Turkey Bucks event at Albertsons,

by collecting donations, so they could con-

tinue to purchase the necessary items needed to support the less

fortunate families. As Thanksgiving came around, CHHS Key Club,

along with other high school Key Clubs and organizations, gath-

ered in a nearby warehouse to package several bags of food. The

most enlightening part for our members,

was the distribution of

these meals. Talking with

the families and helping

them out, really opened

the eyes of many of our

members, as they realized

how fortunate they are.
