PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGEAssalamu Alaikum, Dear Parents, Staff and Students,

Alhamdulillah we are nearly approaching and coming to the end of 2009 schooling year. As this will be our last newsletter for the year 2009, I wish to express my thanks to all members of the school community for the wonderful support that I have always received from parents, staff and our students at the college.

I would like to express that our school is only as good as its staff and I know that our staff work hard to provide the best opportunities for our students to develop their skills. From a personal point of view, I thoroughly enjoy working with all staff at Ilim College. My thanks to Vice Principals Ms Aynur Simsirel and Mr Selim Kayikci for their outstanding contributions to Ilim College in 2009. Thank you to all office staff Ms Esra, Ms Buket, Ms Nidaa Ms Nuran Ms Jennifer and Ms Rosela and library staff Ms Halide, Ms Emel and Ms Songul. A special thanks to all primary and secondary teachers, VCE Coordinator Mr Fadi Koubar, Senior Primary Coordinator Mr Dogan Akin, Careers Advisor Ms Sonia Koubar and Ms Nese Gul for their wonderful efforts and contributions at this year’s functions at Ilim College. I would like to thank all primary and secondary domain subject coordinators and Ms Amy Moneer for organising different activities during the 2009 academic year.

Our year 12 class of 2009 students have completed their VCE exams. I hope that all students will be enabled to gain entry to the tertiary course of their choice in 2010 and wish everyone success in their studies and personal life. I hope that each graduating students will remain in contact with Ilim College

I would like to inform parents that 11th of December, Friday will be the last day of Term 4 for all students and the students will be dismissed at 3.30pm. All parents are expected to come to school and collect their children’s semester 2 reports on Monday, 14th of December 2009 from 9.30 to 5.00 pm at the College library. There will be no formal parent/teacher interview session scheduled for Term 4.

An important reminder to all parents, the end of year ceremonies will be held on Wednesday 9th of December at 10:00am for Prep-Grade 2 students, on Thursday 10th of December for Grade 3-5 students at the Gym. All parents are invited to attend these important events.

Last three years we have made a significant building upgrade and we will continue to build new blocks and classrooms in 2010. I am happy to inform you that we have completed F Block construction and our students will commence to use new classrooms in 2010. An enormous amount of construction work was-- undertaken by Mr Abdurrahman Kuzucu-Business Manager, I thank him and Mr Omar Onan-Project Manager for their hard work for the on-going construction programs at Ilim College.

I would like to inform you again that school blazers and skirts have changed. The new students and grade 3 students for 2010 school year must purchase a new blazer and skirt.

Our current students will use the current uniform until the end of 2010. If they want to purchase new uniforms, they can buy them. The new skirts and blazers will be available by the mid of January 2010.

Next year, ilim College office will resume on the 18th of January 2010 and Uniform shop will be open Monday 18th of January, from 8.30 to 4.30pm. 2010 academic year will start 1st of February 2010 for the students at Ilim College. Preps and Year 7’s will commence on Friday, 29th January 2010.

This week Friday, 27th of November 2009 is Eid-ul Adha. Eid mubarak to all parents, students and Ilim College staff. There will be no school on Friday 27th and Monday, 30th of November due to Eid holiday and Report Writing Day.

I would like to wish every member of Ilim College staff, parents and students a happy holiday and safe journey for those who are travelling during the break. See you all in 2010.

Bus bookings are now finilised for 2010. Applicants will be notified of bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times & points.

Please remember, all bus bookings are for a full year, however bus fees are charged each term.

In relation to sitting, standing and walking in the bus: All students must be well seated and have their seatbelts fastened whilst travelling on our buses facing the front at all times. There is to be no side sitting or kneeling on seats, standing and walking in the bus as this action is jeopardising the safety of the bus and its passengers. If a child who accumulates any of the above offences 3 times will have their bus service cancelled immediately. Mr Mutlu Canata

Please be informed that as of the commencement of 2010 Academic year our school uniform will change. Uniform changes are only applicable to school blazers and skirts. The remaining uniform items will be unchanged, grade prep to grade 2 uniform will remain unchanged.

In 2010, grade 3 students will change their uniform from current track suits to skirts/pants, shirts and blazers. Therefore, they are expected to be in the new uniform . Our current students can continue using their current uniform until the end of year 2010, however they must purchase the new uniform prior to commencing 2011.

- The new skirts will be available by the end of December, 2009.

- The new blazers will be available by the end of February, 2010.

We appoligise for any inconvenience caused.

All new applicants are required to purchase the new uniform.

We are encouraging wrapper free lunches for Primary Students. We request that you provide your child with fresh fruits, sandwiches in reusable plastic bags, snacks in containers and water in a plastic take home bottle. Please consider healthy food options - sultanas, carrots and cucumbers cut up, rice crackers etc. Thank you for your support.

As you are all aware the students and teachers of Ilim college celebrated LOTE week from 19/10/09 to 23/10/09.

LOTE week allowed the engagement of all primary students from Prep to grade six in activities such as:

o Role play performance (Turkish) o Poem recitation (Turkish) o Nashid (Arabic) o Sale of the Century Quiz (Arabic) o Colouring competitions and displays

Presents and certificates were awarded to winners of competitionsThe last day of the LOTE week was multicultural day for all students:

o Students attended wearing clothes from their cultural background o Multicultural food supplied by the students representing their cultural background As part of LOTE week, we also made it a point to remember other Muslims that are in need of our immediate assistance. The students and Teachers of both primary and secondary did a fantastic job of raising total of $900 in donations for the Indonesian Earthquake appeal.

To conclude, we would like to thank parents, students, teachers (and a special thanks to the LOTE teachers) for the generous contributions and efforts that lead to a very successful week enjoyed by all.

Sayın veliler, öğrenciler ve okul personeli,

Elhamdulillah, 2009 eğitim ve öğretim yılının sonuna yaklaşmış bulunuyoruz. 2009 yılının son sayısı olan gazetemiz vasıtasıyla bizlere destek ve yardımcı olan okul komitesine, velilerimize, öğrencilerimize ve okul çalışanlarımıza çok teşekkürlerimi sunmak isterim.

Sizlere okulumuzun başarısında çalışanlarımızın çok büyük rol oynadığını söylemek isterim ve biliyorum ki, okul çalışanlarımız büyük çabalar sarfederek öğrencilerimizin yetenek ve başarılarını geliştirmeleri için ellerinden gelenin en iyisini yapmaktadırlar. İlim kolejindeki bütün personelimizle çalışmaktan büyük bir zevk duymaktayım. 2009 yılı içinde İlim Kolejine yapmış oldukları olağanüstü katkılarından dolayı müdür yardımcılarımız Aynur Şimşirel ve Selim Kayıkçı beye çok teşekkürlerimi sunarım. Bütün ofis ve kütüphane çalışanlarıma Esra, Buket, Nidaa, Nuran Hanıma, Jenifer, Rosela, Halide, Emel ve Songül hanıma teşekkür ederim. İlkokul ve ortaokul öğretmenlerimizden VCE Kordinatörümüz Fadi Koubar, ilkokul kordinatörümüz Doğan Akın, Kariyer Danışmanı Sonia Koubar ve Neşe Gül hanıma bu sene İlim Kolej’inde düzenlenen aktivitelerdeki mükemmel katkı ve çabalarından dolayı özel teşekkürlerimi bildirmek isterim. Ayrıca bütün ilkokul ve orta okul ana ders kordinatörlerimize ve Amy Moneer hanıma 2009 akademik yılı içerisinde organize etmiş oldukları farklı aktivitelerden dolayı teşekkür etmek isterim.

2009, 12. Sınıf öğrencilerimiz VCE sınavlarını bitirmiş bulunmaktadır. Bütün öğrencilerimizin 2010 yılında seçmiş oldukları branşlarda üniversiteye giriş hakkını kazanmalarını ümid ederken, kendilerine hem okul hayatlarında hem de özel hayatlarında başarılar diliyorum. Tüm mezun olan öğrencilerimizin gelecekteki hayatları süresince İlim Kolej’i ile bağlarını koparmadan iletişimde kalmalarını temenni ederim.

11 aralık Cuma gününün bütün öğrencilerimiz için 4. Dönemin son günü olduğunu ve öğrencilerimizin saat 15.30’da dağılacağını sizlere bildirmek isterim. Bütün velilerimizin 14 Aralık 2009 Pazatesi günü saat 9.30 ile 17.00 arasında gelerek okulumuzun kütüphanesinden çocuklarının karnelerini almaları gerekmektedir. Bu dönem için veli toplantısı yapılmayacaktır.

Okulumuzun spor salonunda sene sonu törenlerinin 9 Aralık Çarşamba günü anasınıfından 2. sınıfa kadar, 10 Aralık Perşembe günü ise 3. sınıfdan 5. sınıfa kadar düzenleneceğini bütün velilerimize hatırlatmak isterim. Düzenlenen bu önemli programlara bütün velilerimiz davetlidir. Son 3 sene içerisinde binalarımızın geliştirilmesinde farkedilir şekilde değişiklikler yapılmıştır ve 2010 yılında da ek bina ve sınıf yapımlarına devam edilecektir. F blok yapımının tamamlandığını ve öğrencilerimizin yeni sınıfları 2010 yılında kullanmaya başlayacağını sizlere bildirmekten mutluluk duyarım.Okul inşaat işinin büyük bir kısmını Ticari İşler Müdürü Abdurrahman Kuzucu Bey üstlenmiştir, kendisine ve Proje Müdürümüz Ömer Onan Beye halen devam etmekte olan projelerdeki katkı ve emeklerinden dolayı teşekkür ederim.

Okul ceketi ve kız öğrencilerimizin eteklerinin değiştirildiğini sizlere bildirmek isterim. 2010 akademik yılında, 3. Sınıf öğrencilerimiz ve yeni kayıt olan öğrencilerimizin yeni okul üniformasını almak zorunda olduklarını sizlere hatırlatırım.

Okulumuzda şu an eğitim gören öğrencilerimiz 2010 yılının sonuna kadar daha önceden almış oldukları okul üniformasını giymeye devam edebilirler. Öğrencilerimiz aynı zamanda isterlerse yeni üniformayıda alabilirler. Yeni okul ceketi ve kız öğrencilerin etekleri Ocak ayının ortalarından itibaren satın alınabilinir.

Okul ofisimiz ve Üniforma satış yerimiz 18 Ocak 2010 tarihinden itibaren saat 8.30 ile 4.30 arasında açılacaktır. 2010 akademik yılı 1 Şubat 2010 tarihinde bütün öğrencilerimiz için başlayacaktır.

27 Kasım 2009 Cuma günü Kurban Bayramıdır. Bütün velilerimizin, öğrencilerimizin ve İlim Koleji çalışanlarımızın Bayramı mübarek olsun. 27 Kasım ve 30 Kasım tarihlerinde Kurban Bayramı ve karneleri yazma günü nedeniyle öğrencilerimize okul tatildir.

İlim Koleji çalışanlarına, velilermize ve öğrencilerimize iyi tatiller dilerken tatil içinde seyahate gidecek olan herkese hayırlı yolculuklar dilerim.
