I have worked in general practice inManchester for 6 years and joinedDental Care with Jill Cooper in April thisyear. Since joining the team I havethoroughly enjoyed my time at thepractice and in Lymm. The practice offersa high level of patient care in a veryfriendly and caring environment. Westrongly believe in prevention of dentaldiseases and have a strong commitmentto this.

Since I quali5ed as a dentist fromManchester University in 2005 I havebeen very keen to continue my post-graduate education and have completeda number of courses in advancedrestorative dentistry. This allows me to offerthe highest standard of care in commondental procedures such as 5llings, crownsand bridges.

I have a particular interest in cosmeticdentistry including smile make-overs,veneers and tooth- whitening.

This lead to my advancement in to the5eld of facial aesthetics and skinrejuvenation. I now have several yearsexperience in facial aesthetics, havingcarried out hundreds of treatments onpatients across the North-West. I haveworked closely with some leading namesin the aesthetic 5eld and have also trained

further in advanced cosmetic procedures. My aim is to assess every patient as an

individual, discuss your concerns, andprovide treatment tailored to meet yourspeci5c needs. This way you areguaranteed to achieve the results youdesire.

Treatment is usually quick, with very littlepain, and fantastic results which will leaveyou looking fresh and more youthful.

As we age, our skin loses collagen andelastin, causing a reduction in hydration, volume and elasticity of the skin.Environmental factors such as over-exposure to the sun, and lifestyle factorssuch as smoking and high alcoholconsumption, can all contribute topremature aging of the skin. As a result theskin loses volume, creating lines andwrinkles.

At Dental Care with Jill Cooper, we offera range of cosmetic treatments to revitaliseyour skin and enhance your natural beauty, helping you to look and feel younger. Inyounger skin, the emphasis is onprevention of the signs of aging andenhancing natural beauty. In older orprematurely aged skin, treatments areaimed at rejuvenating and revitalising theskin, reducing the appearance of existinglines and wrinkles.

The range of treatments offered includeanti-wrinkle (muscle-relaxing) injections, dermal 5llers (Juvederm), lip enhancementsand cheek volumisation.

The areas of the face which wecommonly treat with muscle-relaxinginjections, dermal 5llers, or a combinationof the two are:• Frown lines• Forehead /(worry) lines• Crows feet (around the eyes)• Smokers lines (around the lips)• Nasolabials (nose-to-mouth lines)• Jowls• Cheek volumisation• Lip enhancement or contouring• Other 5ne lines and creasesWe ensure that every patient receives thehighest level of care and attention by afriendly and caring team. LATE night opening forChristmas shopping has beentried before in Lymm villageand it is fair to say for manyof those taking part it provedless than spectacular!

To their credit the newly energisedLymm Traders Association are keen togive it another go and are appealingto businesses in the village to openlate on the last three Thursdays beforeChristmas.

They are also planning to lay onappropriate entertainment in thevillage centre as an added attractionto help compete with late nightshopping elsewhere.

This is a great opportunity for local

residents who have never venturedinto the village centre to experienceits unique character and show theirsupport to the local businesscommunity, which has suffered likemany other places during theeconomic down turn.

So if you are looking to dosomething a little different pop downinto the village centre and check outwhat it has got to offfer - and in thebuild up to Christmas I am sure youwill Snd it that little bit extra special.

Meanwhile Sunday shopping isalso starting to prove to be verypopular, with several businesses nowsaying it is one of their busiest daysof the week!

So if you are reading this editorialand have never been into the villagecentre there has never been a bettertime to support your local traders.

Also don't forget to put SaturdayDecember 10 in your diaries for theannual Lymm Dickensian Festivalwhich is always a great start to thefestive period.

Good luck to new organiser PeterPowell and his team and I would alsolike to say a big thank you to theoutgoing Mike Evans and his team forhelping run the event for the past sixyears and providing a windfall for thevarious good causes featuredelsewhere in this edition.

In that time the show has beeninstrumental in initially helping theClub survive and now for fundraisingfor the 'Lymm Grass Roots SportsAppeal'. As a community-based clubLymm RFC relies on the membership, donations and volunteers to fulSllambitions to develop a sportingcentre of excellence.

However, long-term members havealways been keen to show thecommunity of Lymm, and newmembers, just how much enjoyment isto be had in the thriving clubhouse, which is also home to rugby league, hockey, squash and many juniorrugby teams.

"The Lymm Panto, we hope, giveseveryone an insight into the fun wehave here, and what a great placeLymm Rugby Club is,' said SimonPlumb, panto writer, producer andformer player. "Twenty Sve yearsseems a long time but when we havespent so much of our time laughing, and making our audiences laugh, thetime has just Town by.

"Next year we need some youngermembers, male and female, to join

the cast. One or two older performersare beginning to show a few laughterlines, shall we say, and make-up canonly hide so much. With an injectionof 'fresh meat', I think we can all lookforward to the next 25 years of theLymm Panto!'

Lymm family strike the right noteIf you have heard any live music in Lymm in the last few months then chances areyou have come across the Healey / Monks family.

Husband and wife team Michael and Susan moved to the village just a yearago and have thrown themselves enthusiastically into the musical life of thevillage.

When he isn't busy as a solo wedding sax player Michael has performed ata number of local events including the opening of the Angela Fox exhibition atEdgar's Art during the Lymm Festival. He and his wife Susan - who used to leadthe highly regarded Amicus choral group in Warrington - also joined local singer/musician Alan Williams as part of the "Fire and Rain" concert that packed theStatham Lodge during the festival.

Daughter Helen - who lives on Star Lane combines a busy career as a singingteacher with regular appearances at the Venue open mic on Tuesday where shealso introduces a number of her own students.

Now not to be outdone, a third generation, Helen's son 15 year old JoshMonks, recently won Lymm High's young musician of the year with a tremendousperformance of the piano music of Villa Lobos.

Michael - an ex head of music at Woolston High School - said: "We havealways made music together. It gives us pleasure and we hope that we canshare that pleasure too."

That was obvious when Michael and Helen gave an impromptu concert at theSenior Social at The Lymm Youth and Community Centre that received anenthusiastic response.

Their appearance with Alan at The Statham Lodge has led to the group beingsnapped up to perform at theprestigious Cinnamon Club inBowdon on Friday October28th (www.thecinnamonclub.net) for an evening ofAmerican song that willinclude the music of PaulSimon and James Taylor.

The Healey /Monks alongwith Alan are also alreadyscheduled for a concert at theUnited Reformed Church inthe Spring of next year aspart of their new regularmusic series.

It's a case of going back whereshe started, as Beccy originallylearned to scuba dive in the pool atLymm Leisure Centre.

She became so taken with thesport and the fascination of the world

BECCY Redford has justreturned to live and work inLymm after four yearsworking overseas as a scubadiving instructor.

underwater that she gave up her jobto travel and devote herself full time todiving. Initially she went to Utila inHonduras where she qualiSed as ascuba diving instructor and then spentnine months there working as aninstructor.

Following this she moved on toUmkomaas, just outside Durban,South Africa, where she worked forthree years, progressing from being ascuba diving instructor to bemanager of a dive centre and divelodge.

Most of the diving there was on theAliwal Shoals which are renowned asone of the best places in the world togo diving with sharks.

During her time in Umkomaas,Beccy saw eight different species ofshark including one memorable divewhere she saw about 50 OceanicBlacktip sharks, seven Tiger sharksand a Bull shark - all potentiallydangerous but safe if the instructionsfrom the local experienced diveguides are followed closely.

Eventually the pull of family back inEngland was too much for her andshe has returned to the UK where sheis now working where it all started.

Motoring

EARLIER this year, the 100,000th Audi A1 rolled off the assembly line - aconsiderable achievement for a model only introduced in the middle of last year.

The A1 is Audi's most compact model at 3.95 metres (just under 13ft) in lengthbut it packs a lot into the space and with its powerful engines and agile chassisis one of the sportiest cars in its sector. Yet, at the same time, among a clutch ofawards it has won are two for "the most sensible car."

There's a choice of six four-cylinder engines, three TFSI engines and three TDIunits. All impress with exemplary fuel economy, ranging from 39.87 to61.90mpg.

Sporty - but‘sensible’

Out of the blue – a newcolour for a new car!

BLUE is the colour most drivers wouldchoose for their car if they had achoice, closely followed by silver andblack, according to a poll of nearly16,000 AA members.

Brown, gold and yellow were theleast popular colours – but thesedays, quite a few drivers end up witha colour that would not have beentheir Srst choice anyway.

Perhaps surprisingly, youngerdrivers seem to have a preference forblack. One in three 18-34 year oldswould pick a black car if they had achoice but only one in six actually hasa black car.

Just 13 per cent of 18-34 year oldswould pick a silver car, yet 22 percent have one.

Overall, a desire for silver can besatisSed, with 22 per cent of theentire sample wanting a silver carand 25 per cent having one. Thesame goes for red, blue and white, although the 208 brown car owners(1 per cent) must be the mostfrustrated as almost no-one wants one(0.27 per cent).

Silver is the favourite of the grey-haired driver, being the number onechoice of AA members aged 55-64(23 per cent) and 65 and over (30per cent). It is a desire they satisfy, with the highest proportion of 55-64year olds having one (25 per cent)and also those aged 65 or more (31per cent).

One of the attractions of silver is the

feeling that it is by far the easiest tokeep clean. Some 27 per cent ofsurvey respondents believe it is thecolour that shows dirt the least. Gold, yellow, green and white cars werevoted the least easy to keep clean.

When it comes to selling a car, AAmembers consider that there are onlytwo clear contenders for mostsaleable colours: silver (28 per cent)and black (15 per cent). Onceagain, the youngest drivers favourblack (21 per cent) but AA membersaged 25 or more increasingly bet onsilver to sell Srst.

AA president Edmund King said:“Brighter coloured cars, which havebeen popular in the past when theeconomy was more buoyant, seem tohave slipped way down the league. The results show a discrepancybetween desired colour of choiceand actual colour of car as often theowner may not have a choice.

"For younger drivers that hankerafter black cars but end up withlighter-coloured ones, there is a silverlining in that if they hang on to themthey will grow to prefer them.

"Whilst blue was the colour moredrivers wanted to own, silver clearlytops the league when it comes to thecar colour most likely to sell quickly, most fashionable and easiest to keepclean."

IT is a measure of Lymm's progressover the last two years that althoughthey climbed to joint third in NationalLeague 3 North, following four winsagainst Altrincham Kersal, Beverleyand Waterloo and West Hartlepool, the players and coaching staff aresomewhat disappointed in theiroverall performances.

They responded well to losing theirSrst two games of the season againstBradford & Bingley and BirkenheadPark, and have shown that they havethe ability to compete with the best inthe league. Assistant Coach andEngland legend Alex Bennett has led

Lymm disappointeddespite progress

the way up-front, ably assisted byCheshire player Adam Bray, OliHigginson, Jake Ashall and PeteAllen.

Skipper Knowles has put inconsistently good performances fromfull-back, but the backs have notfulSlled the try-scoring potential theyshowed last season.

However, It will not be until theyplay against the likes of Chester andon heavier ground that anyone will beable to judge whether their highlycommendable 7th place in theleague last season was a fairreTection of the club's progress or not.
