Summer 2014

THEATRE SCHOOL

A Note from the Education Director

Dear Parents and Young Actors,

Welcome to The Coterie’s summer classes! In this brochure you will find The Coterie Acts classes for students entering kindergarten through 12th grade. The Coterie Acts offers creative drama and acting classes that create strong actors and creative individuals. Participants in all of our classes build self-esteem and confidence as they refine their creativity, active listening, and concentration skills.

Our youngest actors will join in the fun of our creative drama classes as they flex their imaginations through theatre games, visual arts, music, and improvisation, emphasizing the importance of storytelling and collaboration.

As students get older, they are challenged to continue growing as actors. Working with professional teaching artists, students will hone their acting skills through theatre games, improvisations, acting exercises, and scene work to discover what it means to respond truthfully and believably. Most youth roles in professional Coterie Theatre mainstage productions are cast from our classes because of the relationships we develop with our students.

Our classes this summer were chosen to create fun and imaginative ways to learn about theatre. This summer is going to be great and I am very excited for you to be a part of it!
