Congratulations to Peter Ward for organising promotional signs for
Noweyung, Cells Café and Yackety Yak at the Wy Yung footy Oval. Peter is
one of the founding members of the Yackety Yak crew and a long time
participant at Noweyung who is very proud of our organisation and the
things we are achieving. Peter is also a very keen Wy Yung Football Club
supporter who gives the Yackety Yak listeners a rundown on how his
favourite local team went in the weekend.
A few months ago Peter had the great idea that we needed a Noweyung sign
at the footy oval to promote Noweyung. He went to work approaching his
friends at Wy Yung football club and the Noweyung CEO Mike Amor. He
then organised a meeting between Wy Yung President Brad Overend and
Mike Amor. The sign was made and Noweyung is now a proud sponsor of
the Wy Yung Football and Netball Club. Peter is thrilled by the results of his
hard work and proud to be promoting Noweyung in the community.
Well done
Peter!

This year we are very lucky to have two experienced musicians
working in our Music Programs at Goold St and The Hub —
Roderick Teal and John van der Knijff.
Rod and John have years of experience and play a large variety
of instruments. They create a wide variety of musical activities
including group sing-alongs, playing a variety of music to the
rhythm of the beat and creating their own words to the riffs
and groves in the looping machine. The groups singalong in
harmonies and play an assortment of different instruments
including maracas, drums, keyboard, bells, guitars and whistles
and some people just enjoy listening to the great music.
The Nicolson Group is a very talented group also known as ‘The
Nicholson Mob’. They are some of our young people from the Hub
who love music. Rod and John work hard to increase the groups
motivation and encourage them all to actively participate. The group
are developing skills in keeping in time singing all together and
becoming familiar with using the microphone. Each week every
participant shines and moves outside their comfort zone. Currently the
Nicholson Mob are rehearsing 5 songs that will be included in a concert
at the end of the year.
The Goold St group love the great music. They enjoy playing along with
the percussion instruments and dancing to the music. They especially
like the songs that Rod and John make up about each of the
participants and what is happening around them.
Rod and John are both volunteers who attend each week providing a
motivating and enjoyable experience for all participants. Rod and John
incorporate different musical activities into their lessons that allow all
abilities to participate and grow at their own pace. `

Our community volunteering group are now working at Forge Creek Free Range Egg Farm helping to collect and package eggs. Peter and Deb Hahnemann are the owners of this business and they proposed the idea.
The new Friday morning program is run by Sarah Nancarrow with Daniel, Sebastian, Jamie and Jordyn are all enjoying learning all about chickens and how the farm works.
At the moment the group are learning about collecting eggs, grading the eggs and packing and labelling the eggs. They are learning how the chickens are cared for and Jordyn and Jamie also love helping to train the farm dogs.
The Egg Farm has 3000 chickens and produces 1100 dozen eggs each week. They have also have 8 Alpacas in the paddocks with the chickens to keep them safe from foxes. The eggs are sold at David Luckes Fresh Food Market, Bairnsdale Wholefoods, IGA at Eastwood and Paynesville, Morrisons Meats and LEFC Lakes Entrance, Johnsonville, Swan Reach and Metung General Stores.
Forge Creek Free Range Eggs are also used at the Cells Café menu in the very popular breakfast eggs and also in delicious quiches, cakes and slices which are all made on site.
We would like to thank Peter and Deb for their support and for making us welcome.

“R U Fit”
Aladdin and the Lamp of Wonders
The Rufit program is run out of the Hub and they attend a local gym for a workout every Tuesday morning. Participants use a variety of gym equipment under the guidance of the experience gym instructors.
Here are some comments from the participants: Daniel: “It is great every week going to Rufit.” Brent: “I enjoy the variety of things we do at Rufit, I always feel very fit and healthy afterwards. I enjoy how it warms me up on a cold morning. Everything is my favorite thing but especially getting into the boxing ring and doing a workout.”
The ‘Aladdin and the Lamp Of Wonders’ Hub Drama play was an outstanding success. Stephanie, Clancy, Amanda, Aleisha, Kurt, Lachlan (LC), Rosie, Sharni and Jade wrote the play inspired by Disney’s ‘Aladdin’ with a twist. The show was funny, quirky and the audience loved it. They have been working on this project for 18 months with unexpected injuries delaying the performance last year. Special thanks to Jade and Aleisha with the help of Kate Joyce did a fantastic job of the backdrop, Clancy and Stephanie who did the voice recordings, Rosy and Kurt who stepped into their roles this year.
Well done to everyone involved on a great show and we look forward to the next show “Wizard of Oz” on Friday 7th December. See you there!!

Banksia Fine Foods
Trialling New Flavours
We are currently working on new lines of products for banksia,
and have been working hard making samples and tasting them!!
Here are some of the new flavours we are trialling.
Can you guess what they are??
Hospitality Course
On Friday mornings, Christie the supervisor of Banksia fine foods runs a hospitality course in Banksia’s part of the
building on Nicholson St. In the course Steven Ameer Beg, Sharni Ashford, Rachael Keegan, Lachlan Coburn, Nat
Hine, Maegan Warford and Adam Lubke participate in hands on activities such as cleaning, cooking and hospitality
workplace skills to gain a better understanding of their learning.
One of the best things we have done so far is making coffee using an espresso machine. After discussions and
demonstrations, each learner took in turns setting up the machine and creating a coffee of their own using the
skills they have obtained throughout their time at the course. Every learner was very proud of their creations.
Learners have been spending time in either Cell’s café or Banksia fine foods to complete their work experience as
part of the course, learning hands on skills and getting a feel for the industry.
Since starting the course, learners have gained quality skills and knowledge as well as having more enthusiasm
towards the hospitality industry and further education. Participants eagerly look forward to attending class and
work experience each week.
At the moment we are learning about meal planning. Looking into all the work that goes into planning a meal such
as ingredients, methods, dietary needs, cooking techniques used and time/waste management.
Rachael has been a superstar in work experience at Banksia! Soaking up all the information and knowledge she
can and transferring it into hands on skills. Rachael has successfully learnt how to operate scales, a washing
machine and a dishwasher as well as understanding proper food and personal hygiene. Well done Rachael!
Soooo, the flavours are, Passionfruit, Watermelon, Sour Cherry and Lime and Carrot cake!

New Rules from Disability Commissioner The Victorian Government recently made some new rules for the Disability Services Commissioner. These rules
give us new powers to make it easier for us to help keep you safe. One of the powers is using Authorised
Officers.
Authorised Officers An Authorised Officer is a person from the Disability Services Commissioner. They can go to a disability service to do an inspection when we decide to investigate a ser-vice provider. Their job is to help to keep you safe. When Authorised Officers inspect a disability service there will always be two of them. Authorised Officers can visit a service at any time of the day or night. People with disabilities are allowed to talk to the Authorised Officers.

During your NDIS planning meeting you will be asked to select how you wish to manage you
funds. There are three options available.
1. Self-Management
Self- management gives you greater choice and control over the supports and services purchased. You can choose services provided by either NDIS registered providers or providers not registered with the NDIS. You will be responsible for paying invoices for your NDIS funded supports and organise a reimbursement from the NDIS into your NDIS nominated bank account.
Roles and Responsibilities required by you –
Select your preferred service providers
Establish service agreements and create Service Bookings (NDIS Portal) for your supports
Request your providers supply invoices through the NDID Participant Portal
Ensure all invoices received from service providers are paid ( see payment options)
Maintain financial records
Invoice Payment Options -
Pay invoices with 7 to 30 days of receiving your service invoice.
Submit a payment request to the NDIA Portal prior to (within 1 week) receiving the support if you
have an established Service Agreement and the provider requires payment on day of service.
Pay a service provider upfront and claim the expense back through the NDIS Portal
More information of self-management is available on the NDIS website www.ndis.gov.au
2. NDIA
You may choose to have NDIS manage your allocated funding.
You can only choose from service providers from NDID registered provider list.
Once supports have been provided, the provider will make a payment request from NDIS.
3. Plan Management - FUNDING FOR THIS OPTION IS REQUIRED IN YOUR PLAN
You may nominate NDIS registered Plan Management Provider to manage your funding.
Plan Management Provider will assist you by:
Selecting providers to deliver the supports required from either NDIS
registered providers, or providers not registered with the scheme
Developing a service agreement
Paying providers for the supports received
