NOTE Once the attendance list is finalized, accurate start times for each program and event will be sent out. Please be 15 minutes prior to your start time and consider creating teams that will not conflict with multiple events. MECEP/OC are encouraged to participate in any event.
EVENT INFORMATION
Platoon Drill Competition

Team Size and Composition
The size of each unit for Platoon Drill must be no less than fourteen (14) members and no more than twenty (20). This includes both the unit commander and the platoon guide.
Each team must be organized into three (3) squads with each member armed with a rifle.
The unit commander must carry either a sword with belt and scabbard, or a rifle.
The platoon guide must carry a standard eight-foot (8) staff with the unit guidon attached.
Each school may enter only one (1) team in the platoon drill competition.
Uniform
Each unit must wear the Midshipman Khaki Uniform, or the service equivalent, with nametapes, ribbons, and class insignia.
Competition Area
The platoon drill competition will be held in the RPAC basketball courts, a hardwood surface, plan for a fifty-foot by fifty-foot (50 by 50) drill area marked by cones. If the entire gym is available, the parade deck will be considerably larger and expect approximately a football field size parade deck.
Drill Card
The platoon drill card will be made available for download from the Ohio State University NROTC webpage. It will also be emailed out to all schools upon request.
Squad Drill Competition

Team Size and Composition
The size of each unit for Squad Drill must be no less than seven (7) members and no more than ten (10). This includes the squad leader.
Each member must be armed with a rifle.
The squad leader must carry either a sword with belt and scabbard, or a rifle.
Each school may enter up to two (2) teams in the squad drill competition, with only their top teams score being used for the overall score.
Uniform
Each squad will wear the Midshipman Khaki Uniform, or the service equivalent, with nametapes, ribbons, and class insignia.

Color Guard Competition

Team Size and Composition
The size of each unit for Color Guard must be five (5) members: three (3) color bearers (National Ensign, Navy Colors, and Marine Corps Colors) and two (2) riflemen. Teams entered from schools with members from other service branches shall consist of four (4) members: two (2) color bearers (National Ensign, and Service Colors) and two (2) riflemen.
Each school may enter up to two (2) teams in the color guard competition, with only their top teams score being used for the overall score.
Uniform

Endurance Race Competition

The Ohio State University campus
Team Size and Composition
There will be two (2) competition divisions: a male and a female.
Each team will consist of four (4) individuals with no age or service requirements.
Schools may submit up to two (2) male teams and up to two (2) female teams. Only the top male team and female team scores will be used for the overall score.
Uniform
Each team will wear boots and utes for the duration of the race. Team members must wear the service appropriate utility trousers and a matching PT shirt. Water sources such as camelbaks are highly recommended but not required as there will be water stations set up along the route.
Course Overview
The Endurance Race will start in the pool at the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and will finish at Converse Hall. Teams will be escorted by a Midshipman bike marshal on a ten (10) to sixteen (16) mile route throughout the Ohio State University campus. The course will be continuous with various stations set up along the way intended to test each teams overall fitness, communication skills, and cohesion. Teams should be prepared to carry weight for the entirety of the course. Female teams will run the same course.
Gear
The Ohio State University NROTC unit will provide any equipment necessary to compete in the Endurance Race.
Rifle / Pistol Competition

Team Size and Composition
Each team must consist of four (4) shooters for the rifle competition and four (4) shooters for the pistol competition.
Individuals can compete in both the rifle and pistol competitions.
Schools are not required to submit both a rifle and a pistol team.
Each school may enter only one (1) rifle and one (1) pistol team.
Uniform
Each team will wear either NWUs, MCCUUs, the service equivalent uniform, or unit polos with jeans and closed toe shoes. Shooting accessories such as jackets, mats, and spotting scopes will be allowed.
Weapons
Teams will shoot with standard .22 caliber rifles and pistols.
It is the responsibility of each school to bring their own ammunition.
Weapons may be stored in the OSU NROTC units armory, located at Converse Hall, with permission from the AMOI, Staff Sergeant Robinson.
Each team is ultimately responsible for the safe transportation and storage of their weapons.
Track Meet Competition

Track Meet Overview
The track competition will consist of four (4) races:
4 x 200m relay race
4 x 400m relay race
1200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m distance medley relay race
1600m individual race
Team Size and Composition
The 4 x 200m, 4 x 400m, and distance medley relay teams must each consist of four (4) individuals, with no age, gender, or service requirements.
The 1600m is an individual race.
Schools may submit up to two (2) teams for each relay race (4 x 200m, 4 x 400m, and the distance medley) as well as up to two (2) individuals for the 1600m race.
Uniform
Each team will wear a unit PT shirt with matching shorts and running shoes. Track spikes will not be permitted.
Swim Meet Competition

Swim Meet Overview
The swim meet competition will consist of four (4) races.
100m individual freestyle
200m individual medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle)
500m individual freestyle
4 x 200m medley relay (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle)
Team Size and Composition
The 100m freestyle, 200m medley, and 500m freestyle are all individual events.
The 4 x 200m medley relay team must consist of four (4) individuals with no age, gender, or service requirements.
Schools may submit up to two (2) individuals for each individual race as well as two (2) teams for the 4 x 200m medley relay race.
Uniform
Each swimmer will wear appropriate swimwear. Females must wear a one-piece swimsuit. Goggles and swim caps are permitted.
Dodgeball Competition

Team Size and Composition
Each team will have eight (8) players on the field at a time. There are no age, gender, or service requirements.
Schools may submit up to two (2) dodgeball teams with only the top team being used for the overall score.
Uniform
Each dodgeball team must wear a matching uniform and any appropriate corresponding athletic attire. Cleats will be permitted. Balls will be provided by the OSU NROTC unit.
Tournament Overview
The officials will be OSU NROTC midshipmen.
A detailed list of rules will be made available on the OSU NROTC webpage and will be emailed out prior to the event start date.
Ship Handling Competition

Team Size and Composition
Each bridge team will consist of two (2) individuals with no age, gender, or service requirements.
One team member will play to role of conn while the other member will play the role of lee helm and helm.
Each school may enter up to two (2) teams. Only the top teams score will be used in determining the overall score.
Uniform
Bridge teams will wear NWUs/MCCUUs.
Ship Handling Overview
Bridge teams will be given a scenario on the Mariner Skills Simulator (MSS), a Navy ship simulator with a set-up that consists of a set of individual workstations, comprised of two monitors each, arranged in a classroom setting. Teams must communicate using standard commands to maneuver through a given track. The competition will be a race with the fastest team to complete the course taking first place.
King-of-the-Circle Competition

This will be an individual event with no age, gender, or service requirements.
Each school may enter up to two (2) individuals. Only the top individuals score will be used in determining the overall score.

Individuals will wear unit PT gear. Cleats are not allowed.
King-of-the-Circle Overview
The competition will be a double-elimination tournament featuring head-to-head matchups. Individuals will be given a bumper ball and will start on opposite sides of a circle. Then, in a best-of-three match, competitors will attempt to push each other out of the circle.
Unit Staff Challenge

Team Size and Composition
This will be an individual event with only unit staff members from each school allowed to compete.
There is no limit to the number of staff members each school may submit. However, only the top staff members score from each school will be used in determining the overall score.
Uniform
It is recommended that each competing staff member wears PT gear, however, there is no mandatory uniform.
Staff Competition Overview
The staff challenge will be a surprise event. Information will only be released on-site immediately before the start of the competition. OSU NROTC staff members will not have any input on the challenge and will be informed of the events at the same time as the staff from all other units.

Overall Winner
The overall winner of the 2018 Buckeye Nation NROTC Drill Competition will be determined by adding up the total points earned by each school from each event using the weighted scoring scale listed below.

Awards
Trophies will be awarded to the schools who take first, second, and third place overall.
Trophies will also be awarded to teams that take first, second, and third place in the Endurance Race (both male and female), Platoon Drill, Rifle Competition, Pistol Competition, Squad Drill, and Color Guard.
Trophies will only be awarded to the teams that take first in the Track Meet, Swim Meet, Dodgeball Tournament, Ship Handling, King-of-the-Circle Tournament, and Unit Staff Challenge.
In addition, trophies will be awarded to the top shooter in both the rifle and pistol competitions.
Awards Ceremony
At the conclusion of all events, an award ceremony will be held in Remembrance Park as the primary location and / or The Shoe (Ohio Stadium Tentative). All schools are encouraged to attend; however, the ceremony is not mandatory. The uniform will be either NWUs, MCCUUs, the service equivalent uniform, or unit polos.

Overview
The OSU NROTC unit will be providing food. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase for those who are of a legal drinking age. The social will bring all of the units together in a friendly environment after the completion of the competition on Saturday, 03 March.

All members of each school will wear either unit polos or appropriate civilian attire.
