1 National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) (Licensed under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984) and Approved under section 2 (36) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001) We are here to facilitate you in your endeavors to help the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) National Rural Support Programme is country’s largest rural support programme in terms of its outreach and activities. NRSP has a large outreach in NWFP where Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are being served by a number of governmental and non governmental organizations. NRSP has set up relief operations in the districts where IDPs are being looked after. We can assist and facilitate the international, national and local organizations in their efforts to provide goods and services to the IDPs because: a) NRSP has significant presence in NWFP in the form of regional, district and tehsil level offices and a network of Community Organizations (COs) and Community Volunteers; b) NRSP has participated in the post earthquake relief, rehabilitation and reconstruction operation in earthquake affected areas with the support of Pakistan Poverty alleviation Fund, UN agencies and many other national and international organizations. NRSP received commendation/appreciation certificates from the Government of Pakistan, Care International, Federal Relief Commission and other agencies for its work in the earthquake affected areas. NRSP has also provided relief to flood affected persons in NWFP, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan; c) NRSP has more than 4,500 staff working at different regions with about 500 staff and a fleet of vehicles in NWFP fully prepared and trained in relief operations to provide goods and services; d) NRSP has set up an Institute of Rural Management that can enhance NRSP’s own capacity and capacity of other developmental agencies/NGOs and communities in carrying out relief operations successfully; e) NRSP has put in place sound financial and inventory management system that enable it to track funds and goods to the satisfaction of its own Board of Directors, donors and other stakeholders; and f) NRSP has a specialized Disaster Management Cell at its Head Office equipped with technical skills and capacities to implement and monitor large scale relief and rehabilitation operations during emergencies.
