PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
Welcome back to our students, staff and parents to what is expected to
be a very positive and productive Term 2. I am delighted to confirm
that after 12 months of relieving in the position of Principal of
Urbenville Public School, I have been successful in the merit selection
process, securing the substantive position of Principal.
I am humbled by the support and encouragement I have received from
our staff, parents and P&C during my role as Principal and I look
forward to leading our wonderful small school into the future, as we
continue to deliver high quality public education in a supportive
inclusive environment.

classmates and our small school friends in the District Cross Country. Any parents available to assist
with transport on the day would be greatly appreciated.
NAPLAN – Mon 13th May to Fri 17th May
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual national
assessment for all students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Urbenville students participating in NAPLAN this
year have been working diligently in class in preparation for testing in week 3 this term. NAPLAN
tests are constructed to give students an opportunity to demonstrate skills they have learned over
time through the school curriculum. The best way you can help your child prepare for NAPLAN is
to reassure them that NAPLAN tests are just one part of their school program, and urge them to
simply do the best they can do on the day. If you have any questions about your child’s preparation
for NAPLAN, you are encouraged to make a time to speak with their teacher.
CANTEEN – Wed 15th May postponed
Due to an all-day planned power outage on Wednesday 15th May, canteen will be moved from
Wednesday to Thursday 16th May for this week only. Parents and students will be reminded again
closer to the day.
WALK SAFELY TO SCHOOL DAY – Fri 17th May
Walk Safely to School Day is an annual, national event when all primary school children are
encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a community event seeking to promote road
safety, health, public transport and the environment.
CANTEEN VOLUNTEERS Students at Urbenville Public School enjoy a wonderful selection of fresh healthy foods provided by our very hardworking school canteen volunteers. If you are able to spare a few hours of a Wednesday to help support our already hard working canteen team, please contact the school for more information.
