• Nuclear Security is a priority for South Africa in ensuring peaceful utilisation of nuclear energy

• Physical Protection of nuclear material is an ongoing process that requires regular review, monitoring and adequate resources in order to ensure security of nuclear material and facilities

• Cooperation among States is essential in mitigating, preventing and combating malicious acts involving radioactive material

• Participation in the International Nuclear Security activities is important for information sharing and enhancement of expertise

• The role of the IAEA and Member States including the USA is recognised in strengthening Nuclear Security globally

• South Africa support the Universalisation of Amendment to the CPPNM
