Principal’s Perspective
During this week teachers have been actively preparing the online learning resources which will be delivered through OneNote. When parents/carers receive their child’s report card, the envelope will also contain comprehensive information about how we are ensuring continuity for learning. Instructions will show how students can:
1. Log onto their school email from home. (Students are required to know their email log on and password. If your child does not remember this then you will need to contact the office.)
2. Access the link for each of their classes from their school email.
3. Navigate their OneNote for classes.
Once students have logged on initially and accepted the links to their OneNote they are then able to access each class via the OneNote icon.
Last week a survey was conducted to ascertain which students required printed packs of work. The packs for Week 1 will be delivered Friday 3rd April. Next term, parents/carers will also be advised of how the work can be returned to school for students to receive feedback from teachers.
At this point in time, the most realistic assumption is that while schools may be open for the start of Term 2, many students may be at home participating in online learning. As a parent/carer you can assist your child by:
Establishing the expectation that your child gets ready for their school day and participates in their online lesson according to their timetable. Timetables will be provided with the online learning instructions.
Setting aside a dedicated space for your child to complete their school work.
Monitoring your child’s progress through their studies.
Checking on your child’s wellbeing.
Encouraging some exercise/physical activity.
Monitoring communications from school that will be via email to students and parents/carers. This communication will also be on the school website.
Students will be studying the following subjects:
Years 7 - 9 will study English, Mathematics, Science, Geography and Health.
Year 10 will study English, Mathematics, Science, Geography and Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways.
Years 11 and 12 will continue to study all their regular subjects according to their current timetable.
Wellbeing information will also be distributed to students by our Support Staff at regular intervals.
All students will receive a copy of their timetable in the report card envelope. Students in Years 7-10 will be studying fewer subjects so there are study/assessment timeslots. It is expected that if a student does not finish the work for the lesson that they will use this time to complete the work. Instrumental music students will still be able to continue their learning. Mr Osman will be emailing individual students with their program of study. More details will be provided to parents and students next term. The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority has announced that Year 12 students will complete only three (3) assessments instead of the normal four (4) in 2020. This assessment program will be mirrored for our Year 11 students. One assessment item has already been completed in each subject and early next term teachers will communicate the assessment program for the rest of 2020. At this stage, all activities for Term 2 are cancelled, including the week of work experience which our Year 10s normally complete during Week 10 of Term 2. There may be options for students to complete work experience during holiday times when school resumes fully. Face to face Parent Teacher interviews have been replaced by a phone interview. At this stage, it is expected that phone interviews will occur across Thursday 23rd April and Friday 24th April. More information regarding interviews will be sent home at the start of next term. As most of our communication will be through emails, I ask that parents/carers ensure the school has the correct details on file. If you have not been receiving COVID-19 emails from the school, please contact the office to update your contact details, including emails and mobile phone numbers. Our website https://collinsvilleshs.eq.edu.au/ and Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/collinsvillehighschool/ will also be used to communicate information. We have recently upgraded our website to include ‘Continuity of Learning‘ and ‘COVID-19’ tiles. Information here will be regularly updated. Under ‘Quick Links’, you will find the school email service. Students can click this link for direct access into their email and OneNote. I recognise that this will be a trying time for our whole school community for various reasons from isolation to financial hardship and health concerns. I hope we all stay safe and strong so that when school does resume we can all return to normalcy. I also wish all of our school community a Happy Easter holiday time or at least to make the best of a difficult time to stay safe and well.
Yours sincerely,
Anna Reeves Principal

School Resource Hire Scheme 2020
2020 School Resource Hire Scheme Agreements need to be returned to the office with your choice of scheme if you have not done so already. Please contact the office if you require another copy of this form. If the form is not returned, your child will not be able use school resources, borrow textbooks or receive their school diary.
Once this form is received by the office, indicating participation in the scheme, students will be given their diary. Alternatively, students can purchase the diary for $15 from the office.
School Resource Scheme payments can be made at the office. Where possible, it would be appreciated if payment is made by the end of the 3rd week in the term. If this is not possible, a payment plan can be organised through the office. Payment will allow your child full access to all teaching and learning resources. If payment is not received, your child will not be able to take home items they have made at school eg Cooking, Art and Industrial Technology Projects.
On Thursday 19th March staff, students and parents were invited to a special breakfast to celebrate Choose Kind Day cooked by Chappy Dylan. Students then wrote kind messages on the cement and pledged NO Bullying. All students watched a Choose Kind video in their classes created by the year 11 cohort and Chappy Dylan.

2020 Next Step survey The Queensland Government is conducting its annual
statewide survey of all students who completed Year
12 in 2019. The Next Step survey is a brief, confiden-
tial survey that gains a comprehensive picture of the
employment, study and life choices made by Queens-
land school completers in the year after they finish
Year 12.
Between March and June, all our students who com-
pleted Year 12 last year can expect to receive instruc-
tions to complete a web-based survey or a telephone
call from the Queensland Government Statistician’s
Office. Please encourage them to take part. If their
contact details have changed, please assist the inter-
viewer with their updated details or forward the survey
to their new address so they can participate.
Thank you for your support of the Next Step survey in
2020.
Further information on Next Step is available online at

Ingredients:
Method: 1. Line a 19 X 29cm slice tin with baking paper and set aside. 2. Add chocolate, condensed milk and butter to a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30 second bursts
until all ingredients have melted together and stir well. 3. Add to the crushed biscuits and rice bubbles then mix until all combined. Press the mixture into
the tray, spread to the edges and smooth the top with the back of a metal spoon. 4. Melt the white chocolate in the microwave, add oil and stir until it is smooth. Pour the white
chocolate over the base and spread it evenly to the edges. 5. Cut the caramello eggs in half and arrange on top of the chocolate, add mini eggs and smarties.
Finally shake over the sprinkles. 6. Chill in the fridge until set (approx. 4 hours). Take out of the fridge 20 minutes before cutting into
slices (this makes it easier to cut). Note: Keep in an air tight container in the fridge for up to a week.
