Nursing Contribution to the Achievements of MDGs

The honorable judges and the audience

    Good morning to you all,

Its nice for the oppurtunity to stand up in here for participating in the 2012

English Speech Contest today. This time I would like talk about nursing participation of

    MDGs

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are eight international development

goals that all 193 United Nations member states and at least 23 international

organizations have agreed to achieve by the year 2015. The target are achieved the

people's welfare and community development in 2015.

In some of the targets discussed the role of nurses in these achievements as the

maximum contribution nurses can be considered to reduce child mortality, improving

maternal health, combating HIV / AIDS, malaria and other infectious diseases.

In reducing child mortality by 2015 is targeted to be reduced by two thirds the mortality

rate children under 5 years old. For reducing maternal health by the target 2015 two

thirds of the ratio of women dying in childbirth. And in the fight against HIV / AIDS,

malaria and other infectious diseases can be stopped, and 2015 is targeted to start

preventing the spread of the disease.

But the fulfillment of the millennium development goals in Indonesia have

problems such as vary geographical conditions with the difficulties and the characteristics

so that the nurses contribution have not felt in the remote areas, the lack of nurses

experience, the lack of systems that manage and provide quality nurse assurance

With the great hope of the world for the realization of a prosperous and decent

life, for the world of nursing we are expected as future nurse with the government able to

make it happen. The role of the government itself may be the provision of quality

assurance for nurses in terms of decent life, livelihood and self-actualizing through

educational scholarships to foreign and domestic. A good education or training to support

the candidates and nurses are important. Nursing profession should not underestimate the

real due healing and comfort of the patient, where the quality of a hospital in its judgment

largely on the quality and quantity of nurses becomes a priority in every hospital. The

award or an appreciation of nurses should be able to boost performance, minimal changes

in the view of nurses as physician partners.

Then how about us, as a nurses candidates?? All we can do for make it happen

are that we can begin to make ourselves a ready nurse to be placed anywhere with a good

mastery of the material and skills that we have are reliable. Being a nurse is not the end

of each of our dreams but our dreams just begin, for achieve our dream are for serve

    others and self-actualizing.
