Preface

I would like to thank the publisher to entrust me with organizing the special topicon the emerging role and molecular concepts of nutraceutical (natural agents) inhuman health especially the value of nutraceuticals for the prevention and/or treat-ment of human malignancies. This book illustrates the role of several dietary agents, collectively called nutraceuticals or natural agents in the prevention and/or treat-ment of human malignancies known to be mediated through alterations in multiplemolecular targets. This book contains sixteen chapters which begin with historicalperspective on the value of natural agents in the prevention of human malignanciesfollowed by a series of current topics on multiple nutraceuticals targeting multi-ple cancers. This collection would likely be useful for bringing newer generationswith broader perspectives in launching cutting-edge innovative molecular research, which would certainly help in designing targeted clinical trials in order to realize thedream of customize strategies for the prevention and/or treatment of human malig-nancies without causing any systemic toxicity. Moreover, the knowledge gainedwould allow novel utilization of nutraceuticals as adjunct to both conventionalchemotherapy and radiation therapy in order to improve the overall quality of lifeand survival of patients diagnosed with cancers. I would like to thank all the authorsfor their cooperation, hard work and talented contributions to bring this book tothe readers in a timely fashion. I would like to thank the publisher and the entirepublishing group for their dedication and professionalism. Finally, I would like todedicate this book to my lovely wife, Arfatun H. Sarkar and my wonderful chil-dren, Sarah, Sanila and Shaan for their understanding and sacrifice in allowing meto work harder and spend time away from them rather than with them which theyrightly deserved.
