What is SNAP-Ed?
Program implemented to help persons eligible for the Food Benefit Program to:
• Make healthy food choices within a limited budget
• Choose a physically active lifestyle• Achieve & Maintain good health• Avoid running out of food• Prepare & store food safely• Obesity Prevention
SNAP-Ed
• Administered by KY Cabinet for Health and Family Services (Frankfort)
• Delivered by NEP paraprofessionals, all agents, county assistants and volunteers
• SNAP recipients, SNAP eligibles • Children, all eligible adults including Seniors
What can 4-H Agents Do?
• Teaching– Food Safety– Food Preparation– Portion/serving size– Reading labels– Hand washing
• School Programs• Club meetings• Backpack Program
• Newsletters, news articles, radio programs
• Collaborate & facilitate• Supervising
– Volunteers

How to Report SNAP-Ed Hours
• Agents ~ report on KERS-by 10th of following month.
• County Paid Assistants ~ report on KERS-by 10th of following month.
• Volunteers ~ report events using volunteer reporting form after each event.*

• Amount allowed per adults $2.00, youth 1.75• Must attach original receipt• Due monthly by 5th of the following month• Nutritious foods only• Appropriate foods that this audience can
