News Flash 20 th April 2021 Nyamulilima open pit mining was inaugurated on 17 April 2021 with expectations to produce up to one million ounces of gold in the next six (6) years. In a brief ceremony at the Mine site comprising AngloGold Ashanti – Geita Gold Mining Limited leadership, the first bucket was loaded onto a dump truck at 13:20, signaling the start of open pit operations in the area. The Nyamulilima project which comprises: Ridge 8, Star and Comet, Xanadu, Selous, Mabe and Roberts targets kicked-off following the approval of the Company’s 2021 Mining Plan by the Government’s Chief Inspector of Mines. Speaking during the ceremony, AngloGold Ashanti Chief Operations Officer Africa, Sicelo Ntuli revealed that Nyamulilima was the ‘culmination of years of hard work’ and that mining activities in the area would enable AngloGold Ashanti – Geita Gold Mining Limited to continue extending development projects in Tanzania. On his part, GGML’s Acting Managing Director, Wayne Louw said inauguration of mining activities at Nyamulilima spelt ‘great news for the Company’s stakeholders, employees and contractors.’ He added, “It also augurs well for the Geita community. Guided by our core value to ensure that communities surrounding the Mine are better off for AngloGold Ashanti having been there, we anticipate continued investment in the community. This approval is testament to the Company’s solid mining record in the country. It also illustrates the Government’s confidence in our Company as development partners.”

Following the approval of the Mining Plan for 2021, the Company is expected to conduct its business in compliance with the terms and conditions of the Tanzania Laws with an obligation to annually update the plan and in occurrence of any major changes in operations.
