NYMAZ Early Years Music Network Conference 2015

What factors discourage you from making music with your 0-5 year-olds on a regular basis? l Fear you’re “not musical”? l Terrified of singing in front of people? l Not sure where to start? l Or not sure why it’s important?

Come along on Saturday 7 February 2015, where we will be exploring the many and varied answers to the question: “Why should we sing?” and showing you that you can!

This all-day conference is for Early Years practitioners, Music Leaders, Setting Managers, Childminders, Parents/Carers, and anybody who needs support to bring music into their setting.

l Presentations from Prof. Colwyn Trevarthen and Hugh Nankivell

l Learn the basics of singing for (totally terrified) beginners – Beth Allen

l Pick up a varied song repertoire, with songs for all occasions – Mona Zeidan

l Learn to create new songs and music with early years children – Hugh Nankivell

l Q&A for curriculum queries, how do singing and music fit into EYFS?

Keynote Speaker

We are pleased to welcome back Emeritus Prof. Colwyn Trevarthen, author of ‘Communicative Musicality’, to give the keynote speech. Prof. Trevarthen’s research concerns how rhythm and expressions of musicality in movement help communication with children and may help parents, teachers and therapists give care and companionship to young children.
