THE NORTH ZONE CHAPTER OFUROLOGICAL SOCIETY OF INDIA

NZUSI NEWSLETTER

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEDear Members

Greetings from Meerut.

After one of the driest and hottest year ever, we look forward to some well deserved respite as the monsoon settles all over India.

Despite the heat, the activities of our society continued. After the meeting at HIMS, Jolly Grant, Dehradun on Laparoscopic Surgery we had another meeting – 'Urolegacon' at Tigress Resort, Ranthambore. The meeting at Ranthambore was innovative as for the first time in our zone a mid term meeting was solely devoted to discuss threadbare the nuances of legal implications of Urological practice. The highlight was the skit performed by members of Kota Urological Association which was a spoof on the epic movie, Sholay which was well appreciated

As we approach our marquee event – 29th NZUSICON at Crowne Plaza, Greater Noida in November 2019, the preparations are fully underway. The process of abstract submission has been streamlined. As the scientific program is being finalized, I welcome suggestions from members regarding both content and participation. This year we have 3 international faculties of repute to share their experiences.

Two changes were done this year, one very successfully, the other not so. The first was online meetings of the council through Zoom. We have had a few meetings and council members are able to participate from home/office without need to travel or disrupt their regular schedules. This has led to increased communication and participation by council members. The other was to conduct midterm meetings using PAN Card of NZUSI and funds being deposited in NZUSI account. This has not been successful and we have had multiple issues. This process is being analyzed by Treasurer and COO to suggest means to smoother conduct along with transparency.

The next activity, The Indo Mediterranean Urology Conclave is on schedule and our team of participants shall leave for Italy on 28th September.

Wishing you and your loved ones the very Best.

Anil ElhencePresident, NZUSI

Dear members,

It's really amazing how the time flies. It appears as if the other day I took the responsibility of being the secretary and now only a few months left of my tenure. The last two years were full of activities and learning experience. This year we started with a CUE on Laparoscopic urology in Dehradun combined with a Yoga experience at the Ganges beach in Rishikesh. The second CUE, Urolegacon, was on medicolegal aspects in Urology with an enthralling skit on communication skills and a close encounter of its kind with Tigers in Ranthambore Safari.

The Indomediterranean Urology cruise in October first week will have a brief session on Paraurology which will focus on something extra than the usual stuff in our meetings.

Our Annual meeting in Noida is fast approaching and we have a tentative scientific programme already planned out. This time we have three international guest faculty including Dr. Arnuf Stenzl, Dr. Hellstrom and Dr. Nikhil Vasdev already confirmed. The highlights of the meeting include a video workshop on Day 1 with step by step technique of a few urological procedures, Master class on Carcinoma bladder by Stenzl, Meet the Professor, Survivor debate, Intercollege Quiz, Practitioner's forum and a few interesting non urology sessions.

We have updated our Members' directory with three separate sections of Full, Trainee and Associate members. Our constitution which was updated last in 2012 has been corrected with the necessary amendments passed in our meetings. The state chapters Rajasthan, Punjab-Chandigarh, Haryana are also now active with the Delhi and UP-Uttarakhand chapters. Our website and newsletter have been regularly featuring their activities.

For the first time we are distributing “Certificate of Membership” to all our esteemed members of this zonal society which is already the second largest with 900 + members and aspiring to be the most vibrant and active zone.

I once again take this opportunity to seek your support, guidance and criticism to take our zone in the forefront.

I acknowledge with heartfelt gratitude the brotherly love of our President Dr. Anil Elhence, guidance and cooperation of our President Elect Dr. Amlesh Seth, Secretary Elect Dr. Anup Kumar, Treasurer Dr. Vijay Bora and all council members.

Long live NZUSI

INDO MEDITERRANEAN UROLOGY CONCLAVE

Continuing in the footsteps of two very successful overseas trips – Philippines (2017) and Mauritius

(2018); North Zone Chapter, Urology Society of India travels to East Mediterranean.

The Indo Mediterranean Urology Conclave is from 29th September to 6th October. The cruise is from

Sunday to Sunday so two weekends and Gandhi Jayanti holiday make the timing attractive. The

conclave shall be held on board a cruise liner – Costa Deliziosa. This is a Costa cruise which is Europe's

largest cruise company.

The cruise departs from Venice and also ends at Venice. The cruise ship has stops at Bari (Italy), Corfu

(Greece), Santorini (Greece), Mykonos (Greece) and Dubrovnik (Croatia).

The cruise tariff has been negotiated at 60% of the usual rates. The Registration for this conclave is all

inclusive and includes air fare, transfers, all meals, unlimited beverages, multi entry visa, travel

insurance and GST. The shore excursions and usage of spa and casino are additional expenses for

those inclined.

The theme of the conclave is Paraurology, a neglected area of Urology. The detailed list of topics and

speakers shall be announced shortly.

Look forward to yet another overseas excursion of North Zone
