know my anxious thoughts.”

Psalm 42: 5“Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so

disturbed within me?”

What are you Anxious /Fearful of?

*We must begin to ask ourselves these questions to know how to make them right

Page 7: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

Is Anxiety God’s Will?Mathew 6:34

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own

trouble. “

Joshua 1:19“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do

not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

NO!

Page 8: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

2 Timothy 1:7“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and

love and self-control.”

Proverbs 12:25“Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down, but a

good word makes him glad.”

Luke 21:34“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down

with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.”

Why we Must Overcome?• Can prevent us from being healed!!!

• Can be sin

• Can be an attacks on the mind intended to

distract us from serving the Lord, etc.

5 Causes of Anxiety

Page 11: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

1.) Worry/StressMathew 6:26, 31-32

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is

not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do

not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more

valuable than they? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For

the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.”

*We worry about every day things like food, clothes, bills, work…

Page 12: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

Deuteronomy 1: 26-46“Yet you would not go up, but rebelled against the command of the Lord your God. And you murmured in your tents and said, ‘Because the Lord hated us he has brought us out of the land of Egypt, to give us into the

hand of the Amorites, to destroy us. Where are we going up? Our brothers have made our hearts melt, saying, “The people are greater

and taller than we. The cities are great and fortified up to heaven. And besides, we have seen the sons of the Anakim there.”’ (they were filled with anxiety and fear about things they were going to have to face).

Then I said to you, ‘Do not be in dread or afraid of them. The Lord your God who goes before you will himself fight for you, just as he did for you

in Egypt before your eyes” (They should have just obeyed God and trusted him instead of

worrying because what good did it do? And remember..this was to the Promised Land..they missed out on Gods will)

*We worry about future events, or situations one must face. They saw the giants and looked at themselves they did not see them and look at

God

Page 13: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

2.) Sin/Guilt

Psalm 38:18“For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because

of my sin.”

Psalm 32: 3“When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted

away through my groaning all day long.”

Results: (Adam and Eve), fear, shame, embarrassment, punishment, rejection

Page 14: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

3.) Unforgiveness

Mathew 6: 14-15“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your

heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will

your Father forgive your trespasses.”

*Unforgiveness of others or even self can cause anger, bitterness, anxiety, etc. (future study)

Page 15: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

4.) Generational Curses

Exodus 20: 5“You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I,

the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth

generation of those who hate me”

*Maybe anxiety runs in the family, so we need to break the curse

Page 16: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

5.) Spiritual Attack*Satan uses anxiety to wear us down and make us more susceptible to being overcome by temptation, doubt, and even giving up on our faith in God (my dreams)

Ephesians 6: 12"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against

principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in

high places."

John 10:10“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have

come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Page 17: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

How can we Overcome?

8 Ways

Page 18: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

1.) Pray

Philippians 4: 6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,

by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts

and your minds in Christ Jesus”

1Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing”

Page 19: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

2.) Repent 1 John 1:9 (Sin)

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Mathew 5: 23-24 (Unforgiveness- others)“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against

you, leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice

to God.”

Romans 8:1 (Unforgiveness-self)“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are

in Christ Jesus.”

Page 20: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

3.) Cast your Cares

1 Peter 5: 6-7“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand,

that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”

Mathew 11: 28-30“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your

souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”*We need to give up on trying to control our problems; let go (my prayer room experience)

Page 21: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

4.) Put Hope and Trust in GodPsalm 56: 3

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Proverbs 3: 5-8“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your

own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to

your body and nourishment to your bones”

Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[ have been called according to his

purpose”*Are you trusting in yourself or trusting in God for your circumstances?

Page 22: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

5.) Have Faith

Hebrews 11: 1“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and

assurance about what we do not see.”

2 Corinthians 5: 7“We live by faith, not by sight.”

Ephesians 6:16“In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the

evil one.”

Page 23: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

Mathew 14: 28“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on

the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But

when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why

did you doubt?”

*The minute Peter began to look at his circumstances, he took his eyes off of Jesus and started to sink*Sometimes it comes after we make that decision to step out

Page 24: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

Luke 8: 40-42, 49-56“Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him. And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler

of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus' feet, he implored him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. While Jesus was still speaking, someone from the ruler's

house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.” But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” And when he came to the

house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And all were weeping

and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.” And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But taking her by the hand he called, saying, “Child, arise.” And her spirit

returned, and she got up at once.”

Page 25: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

Mathew 8: 5-8“When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him,

asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”

Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.

But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.”

*When it came to healing, in the first story they had lost hope, allowed fear to enter their hearts, allowed themselves to be overwhelmed by the situation they were in (weeping), and doubted, etc. because they didn’t trust God. We may think that we are beyond Gods help. In the second story, this man had so much faith, that Jesus didn’t even have to go to the house, he trusted God.

In both stories there was healing, but in the first one, the people could have avoided the fear, unbelief, anxiety, doubts, sadness, etc. if they just trusted God from the very beginning.

Page 26: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

6.) Renew our mindsColossians 3: 2

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

2 Corinthians 10: 5-6“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts

itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ”

Jeremiah 32:27

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is anything too hard for me?

*Read the bible, study the word, etc. to combat the anxious and fearful thoughts when they come. Look at our problems from God’s perspective.

Page 27: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

7.) Sleep and eat right

Mathew 4: 2“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came

and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”

1 Peter 5:8“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

* We can become mentally drained and weak, and that is when Satan attacks (when we are most vulnerable)

Page 28: “O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me.” - Psalm 30:2

8.) Rest in Gods PeaceJohn 14: 27

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be

afraid.”

Isaiah 41: 10“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be

dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my

righteous right hand.
