ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE MINISTRY

We are beginning an English as a second language ministry (ESL) to teach English to the Hispanic community. An ESL ministry can be vital in teaching the skills necessary for functioning effectively in our community, providing economic advancement, and improv-ing lives. It is also a ministry of service and evangelistic outreach. It can be one of the best ways to demonstrate and share God's love with others and to introduce the gospel of Jesus Christ. This will begin on Sunday, September 8 at 5:00 PM in Room W412. Duncan Young, a member of our church, will be coordinating this ministry with the support of Pastor Jay Johnston. No special qualifications are required - just a desire to help change lives through teaching and ministry. Please email Pastor Jay Johnston for more info.

KIDS MINISTRY (K - 6th Graders)

Discipleship . . . It’s not just for adults. B.L.A.S.T. (Biblical Learning and Spiritual Training) is a discipleship program for Kindergarten through 6th grade children that partners with parents in building a spiritual foundation in their child’s life.We meet every Wednesday from 6:30-7:45PM on the 2nd floor of the Preschool/Kids Ministry building. Kids can earn Bible Bucks for bringing their Bible, wearing their B.L.A.S.T. t-shirt (available now for $10), participating in Theme Nights, bringing a friend, and for memorizing the books of the Bible, Bible verses, key passages, and the plan of salvation. Volunteers make Ministry HAPPEN – We are in need of activity room teachers, assistants, and hall monitors to help B.L.A.S.T. run safely and effectively for our kids. Please contact Maggie Fredericks at [email protected] or Ashley Roberts at [email protected] if interested.

OPEN TABLE is a To Covington with Love initiative for our church to serve a foster child or biological family with kids in foster care by providing 10-12 people to serve on a “Table” in a mentor role. An Informational Meeting will be held after church on Sunday, September 15 in the Hospitality Room.

Contact Josh Jordan at [email protected] if you have any questions.
