Integra™ Dental CaseworkIntegrity. Durability. Integra is the next generation in
Midmark dental cabinetry. Casework designs that
combine superior, environmentally friendly materials to
exceed the demands of the modern healthcare facility.
Properly designed and manufactured dental casework
provides the foundation for efficient operatory function.
Having the right equipment and supplies within reach
allows you and your staff to treat patients instead of
searching through the clinic for needed items. The
Integra line of operatory casework provides a unique
solution for your dental environment, a casework
offering that cannot be matched by other dental
cabinetry or local millwork product.

Treatment Consoles are the primary operatory workstations,
providing the needed storage and support at the essential
twelve o’clock position. The pivoting worksurface presents
the assistant with a movable working area. The rounded front
edge allows for proper positioning while the squared back edge
maximizes usable space. An optional clamp and tub or tray
support offers an additional level of instrument support. The
addition of integrated Procenter dentist’s instruments presents a
left/right convertible delivery system.
The FTC4472 shown is configured with one front storage base
module and one side module. This left base module features a
two inch drawer, an equipment drawer and an eight inch drawer.
The right side base module comes standard with a bi-fold door
to maximize the entry space, even when the storage area is
accessed. Side storage options include swing-out shelves,
swing-out tubs and pull-out shelves.
The midsection features a storage shelf with a five inch
accessory panel – other configurations are available. A duplex
outlet is standard in each midsection side panel.
The optional clock timer is available for the task light area.
The timer function can be set as needed and provides two
programmable presets. The three-compartment upper storage
provides ample space for procedure tubs and trays along with
some bulk storage.

Offering the same base and midsection options as the
full height FTC4472, the FTC4452 is utilized in open
operatory designs when visibility across the space is
important. At 52 inches in height, this treatment model
supports your storage and instrument delivery needs
while not obstructing the view across operatories.
Another application for the FTC4452 is when the upper
section of the rear wall is required for inset, pass-through
storage or the mounting of equipment such as an x-ray
or articulating monitor arm.
The model shown is configured as a left/right support
console with front base storage support and assistant’s
instrument delivery. It can be configured with full
Procenter dentist and assistant’s instrumentation for
complete treatment console delivery.
This midsection features a storage shelf with a nine inch
accessory panel. The accessory panel can be used for
mounting call systems, nitrous mixers and other panel-
mount equipment. The midsection can be left open,
with a lower height panel and shelf or with a split shelf
configuration.

Storage Options select storage options for each cabinet zone to match your operatory support requirements.
Top Extension the optional top extension increases the cabinet height to 95 inches, providing an additional degree of privacy.
Center Consoles provide a number of office design efficiencies
over closed room designs while maintaining the desired level of
patient privacy. With a width of 24.5 inches, the Integra Center
Console requires approximately 55% less floor space than a
traditional wall and side cabinet installation. More usable floor
space provides greater flexibility for your space utilization.
Additional design efficiencies include equipment, storage and
support. A center console positions one sink to support two
operatory entrances. The upper equipment storage allows one
x-ray to be utilized in two rooms. Multiple compartments provide
operatory storage for auxiliary equipment, supplies and bulk
products. And, the built-in chase ways and electrical system
offer routing and outlets for the support of equipment.
As with the rest of the Integra™ casework product line, Center
Consoles provide a financial advantage over built-in cabinets
and structure. Not only will the steel frame construction of
Integra casework outlast standard wood cabinetry, it is classified
as equipment and not leasehold improvements. Therefore, it
should qualify for the faster depreciation schedule. Please check
with your tax advisor for details.

Base Material A good base should be strong enough to provide sufficient support to the cabinet and be made from painted or stainless steel. Seamed and riveted steel can provide strong bases, but may be difficult to clean and an aesthetic compromise. Basic plywood or particle board with laminate covering can delaminate and swell over time. Finally, the base should incorporate adjustable levelers to level cabinets on uneven floors.

✪ ✪ Seamed or riveted steel with integrated, adjustable leg levelers
✪ Basic plywood or particle board with laminate covering and wood shims for leveling
Cabinet Frame The frame needs to be strong and durable to withstand the demands of the healthcare environment. Since it will encase many components, it must be built with stability. Modular design allows future integration of new storage options.
✪ ✪ ✪ 18 gauge powder-coated, painted steel
✪ ✪ 5/8" and 1/2", 45 lb. or greater density industrial grade particle board
✪ Low density particle board and various types of plywood
Panel Substrates The substrate is the core material used in a cabinets paneling. Higher density material such as medium density fiberboard (MDF) or industrial grade particleboard is recommended because of its stability and resistance to warping. Other materials such as low density particleboard or plywood are not good options because humidity can cause shrinkage/swelling which will eventually lead to warpage, cracking and separation.

Finishes All exposed surfaces must be covered and sealed to prevent damage from moisture common in the dental environment. Three superior choices are thermally-fused melamine, high pressure laminate and PVC thermofoil (vinyl-clad) covering because they offer the best resistance to wear, staining and moisture. Paints and varnishes are not recommended because they will not stand up to the stringent agents and disinfectants used in a dental office.

✪ ✪ ✪ High pressure laminate or thermally-fused melamine
✪ ✪ ✪ High pressure laminate

✪ Varnished, painted or left unfinished
Edge Treatments When using high pressure laminates or thermally-fused melamines, an edge treatment will be required to completely seal the panel corners from moisture. Acceptable treatments are 2 or 3 mm thickness PVC, thermofoil vinyl and post formed high pressure laminate. However, all these materials must have adequate equipment for proper application. Watch out for square-edge laminate stripping because it can produce sharp, dangerous corners and when applied with traditional contact adhesive, it can delaminate over time.
✪ ✪ ✪ Membrane pressed PVC thermofoil wraps panel corners, making edge treatments unnecessary.
✪ ✪ 3 mm and 2 mm PVC, laminate post-formed edges and thermofoil coverings
✪ ✪ 2 mm PVC (depends on adequate equipment?)

✪ Square edge strips
Countertop Options The most popular countertop options are laminates and solid surfaces. Laminates are the most cost-effective while solid surfaces are easy to repair, non-porous and seamless (good for asepsis). Quartz, which is resistant to scratches, chips and cracking and does not require sealing, is making its way into the market.

Type of Assembly The four most popular methods are the glue and dowel, knock down, screw fasteners and staple fasteners. The glue/dowel, the knock down method and mechanical fasteners are the best because they create strong joints. Staple fasteners are unacceptable because joints are weak and the staples are exposed.
