STEERS, John Edward P. Eng., FGAC-Passed away peacefully,
surrounded by his loving family at Oakville Trafalgar Me-morial
Hospital on Saturday May 17th 2008 in his 72nd year. Beloved
husband of Clarice. Loving father of Paul and his wife Barbara and
Jacqueline and her husband Andrew Lawford - all of Ottawa. Sadly
missed by his grandchildren David, Liam, Emma, Connell, Amy and
Molly. Fondly remembered by his brothers Reg (Andrée) and Bill
(Céline) and nieces Isabelle and Stéphanie. Well known and highly
respected as a consulting engineer within the mining and geological
communit ies throughout Canada and internationally. While
semi-retired for the past few years, John remained active in m a n
y c o m m u n i t y e n d e a v o u r s a n d thoroughly enjoyed
the company of a widely diversi f ied network of f r iends. Family
will receive visitors in the Ward Funeral Home, 109 Reynolds
Street, Oakville, ON, 905-844-3221 on Thursday, May 22nd from 7-9

ABBISS, William (Bill)- On May 20, 2008 at the age of 83, at
NorfolkGeneral Hospital in Simcoe. After a long and valiant battle
with cancer,he passed away peacefully with his wife and son by his
side. Born July20, 1924, he lived in Caledonia most of his
childhood. Bill was a veteranPilot Officer in the RCAF and served
throughout WWII. Agraduate of theOntario College of Art and Design,
he enjoyed a long successful careeras a commercial artist. He was a
long time resident of Oakville and along standing and active member
of the Oakville Club. Upon retiring helived in Stoney Lake,
Sundridge, Parry Sound and Fort Meyers, Florida.His final home was
in Port Rowan with his loving wife of 60 years,Doris (nee Daniels).
He will be sadly missed by Doris and his four devotedchildren
Cynthia (Mike) Marlatt, Sue (Dave) Allison, Scott (Pat)
Abbiss,Tracey (Jeff) Pearcy. Dearly loved by his 10 grandchildren
Lori (David)Denniss, Sarah (John) Rushton, Jay (Claire-Louise)
Morris, Nick Marlatt,Jason and Joshua Adams, Erin (Tristan) Rees,
Natasha, Tenleigh andConnor Pearcy. Proud Great Grandad to Jack,

May 2008The Sea Lamprey Control Centre, Fisheriesand Oceans
Canada (DFO), proposes to
treat approximately 41 km of the Credit Riverwith the lampricide
TFM to reduce thenumbers of larval sea lamprey. Lampricide
will be applied for approximately 14 hoursfrom designated
application points as notedon the accompanying map. Treatment
is
tentatively scheduled for the period May 23-25, 2008. The
lampricide selectively killslamprey larvae and may also cause
mortality
to other fish if under stress of spawning, orweakened by disease
or otherenvironmental factors. Although the
lampricide is not harmful to humans or otheranimals at the
concentrations used duringthe treatment, any use of stream water
for
irrigation and drinking should be suspendedfor a 24 hour period
during this treatmentperiod.

BAYS, Glen Bruce - Beloved husband ofSuzanne (DuMont) Bays and
son of Bruce andBeryl Bays of Saskatoon, passed awaypeacefully on
May 20th, after a courageousbattle with cancer. He was 52. Glen was
bornin Edmonton, Alberta and was raised in DonMills. He attended
York University and settledin Toronto until moving to Oakville,
Ontario in1989. He spent his entire career in banking,with Bank of
Montreal, NatWest Bank and TDSecurities. Glen loved life and spent
muchtime on the golf course, squash and tenniscourts. His love of
travel and of life in generalresulted in countless friends. He was
anamazing son, husband, cousin, friend andcolleague to many people.
A celebration ofGlen's life will be held at St. Jude's
AnglicanChurch (160 William Street, Oakville, Ontario,L6J 1C5) on
Friday May 23rd, 2008 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial
tributes maybe made directly to Princess MargaretHospital,
Palliative Care Unit. Glen and hisfamily would like to thank the
team at PrincessMargaret Hospital, and Oakville TrafalgarMemorial
Hospital for the wonderful care andassistance over the last few
