What is the significance of July holidays?

July is named after Julius Caesar — a Roman general

and influential senator who was (literally) stabbed in

the back by his best friend, Brutus, when Caesar got too

powerful. Our July calendar contains lots of ways to

celebrate this summer-kissed month—and most

importantly, none of them involve any backstabbing.

What are some memorable July holiday moments?

Did you know the average American has 8 cousins?

That's as good a reason to celebrate National Cousins

Day (July 24) as any! The rest of the extended family

gets their July holidays too—July 26 is National Aunt

and Uncle Day. Even friends get to join the fun on

International Day of Friendship (July 30).

We wait all year at National Today to celebrate World

Emoji Day (July 17)—the date that matches up with the

calendar emoji on our iPhones. We're also pumped to

celebrate our favorite glammed-up national day in July:

National Lipstick Day (July 29). And who could forget

about July 4?

Our July calendar includes an ode to the best food in

America: get ready for National Ice Cream Day on July

16! For more sweets, check out Free Slurpee Day (July

11) and National Junk Food Day (July 21). Looking for

July holidays with some savory goodness? National

French Fry Day (July 13) is just what the doctor ordered.

Scotch accounts for an entire quarter's of the UK

exports—celebrate on National Scotch Day (July 27)!

And, if you like pina coladas (and getting caught in the

rain), enjoy National Pina Colada Day on July 10.
