1. The Eisriesenwelt can be reached on the trunk road from
Salzburg, the Tauern motorway (A10) or by
train to Werfen station.
From Markt Werfen, situated approx. 40 km south of Salzburg,
there is a 5 km surfaced access road (toll-free)
leading to the Eisriesenwelt car park.The road up the mountain
has a maximum incline of 21% and has been extensively improved and
widened in
recent years. The road has two lanes and cars can drive the full
length. Buses are also permitted to drive up
providing they do not exceed 14 metres in length (legal
restriction).
For drivers unfamiliar with mountain driving there is a local
bus service from Werfen for a small charge for thisservice call

This service departs regularly from Parkplatz Gries/Werfen
(approx. every 25 minutes) and from Werfen
Station (the station is only a 5 minutes walk away from
Parkplatz Gries) at the following times: 8.20, 10.20,
12.20 and 14.20 and also by prior arrangement.
