SituationOckham Mill is located on a private road in a very picturesque small hamlet just outside the village of Ripley, with specialist shops, restaurants, public houses, a supermarket and hotel. The nearby towns of Cobham and Guildford provide a wide selection of restaurants, shopping and entertainment, supplemented by a fast train service to London and the south west. The M3 and A3 lead to London and the south coast and junction 10 of the M25 is approximately 2 miles away, providing access to the national motorway network and London’s international airports.

The area is renowned for outstanding schooling and the following are within east driving distance; Charterhouse, Guildford High School, Epsom College, ACS International School and Danes Hill School.

Sporting facilities in the area include the neighbouring Wisley Golf Club, Worplesdon Golf Club, Woking Golf Club and Westhill Golf Club. The surrounding area is well known for its excellent network of footpaths and bridleways, including the Wey Navigation. There are also tennis courts at Worplesdon and horse racing at Ascot, Windsor and Sandown Park. The Surrey bike trail is nearby, and there are horse stables next to the hamlet.

The popular RHS Garden at Wisley is located within easy walking distance via public footpaths. The Wey Navigation is 500 yards away along the ancient Wharf Lane.

Ockham Mill Ockham Mill is an impressive Grade II listed family house, offering luxurious comfort and warmth in a light-filled high end country style. The mill was completely renovated to a very high standard in 2015, including full insulation, double glazing, new plumbing with a pressurised water system, new wiring and heating, sprinkler system, bespoke cabinetry and sympathetic restoration of period features . The restoration included reinstatement of the top floor, adding two bedrooms with high timbered ceilings and a bathroom. The current mill was built in 1862 by Lord Lovelace when it was part of the Ockham estate. The mill was constructed in the “Lovelace” neo-Romanesque style with red and black brick. It remains attached to the miller’s cottage to the side of the property.

The mill continued in commercial operation until the 1920s and still has a working water wheel and much of the original gearing. It would be possible to install a hydropower facility, and a feasibility study has been completed.

The house is laid out over five floors with six very large bedrooms. There is a personal lift to the first and second floors making the majority of rooms on these levels wheelchair accessible. This beautifully presented house was featured in 2017 in Period Living.
