Special Note to Freshmen Parents: We are coming to the end of the first quarter of school. The quarter will end on October 12th and report cards will be given out
at our Open House on Tuesday, October 16th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We are sure to some of you this first quarter of high school has been a bit stressful to both you and your student, so we would like to give you a few tips to help the other three quarters go smoothly. If your student will follow the simple tips below their
lives and yours will be much easier.
1. Bring paper and pencil to class 2. Do the homework assigned—and there is homework being assigned and turn it in
3. Ask questions in class 4. Come to ESS—both AM and PM available/transportation available on Tues/Thur.
5. Check grades on Infinite Campus often and ask teachers about discrepancies https://infinitecampus.warren.kyschools.us/campus/warren.jsp?status=captcha

defense also forced four turnovers on the night- three by our own LaTerrance Crackett who intercepted three passes. The only points given up by the Raiders came via special teams when the Hawks returned a kickoff 80 yards. The Raider offense shined again being very efficient in the passing game (Jimmy Burns completed 70% of his passes) and pounded the ground with the run game while racking up 209 rushing yards-Khyree Boards led the Raiders with 111b yards on 19 attempts while scoring 2
touchdowns.
A New Way of Life in the Warren East Cafeteria
In light of the new federal regulations on school meals, Warren East will be making changes to the way of life in its cafeteria beginning when the students return from fall break on Monday, October 8th. The guidelines state each lunch must meet a planned nutritional standard; that is all students should be getting a protein, a grain, a fruit and a vegetable, plus a milk. Each of our lines is regulated so they will meet those standards. The lunch will also meet the following additional standards:
• Age-appropriate calorie limit (high school is 700-850) • Larger servings of vegetables and fruits (must take at least one serving) • A wider variety of vegetables, including dark green and red/orange vegetables
and legumes • Fat-free or 1% milk (flavored milk is fat-free) • More whole grains • And less sodium
The current order of business is as follows: A student can go from line to line and choose what s/he would like to have for lunch. For example, Sally can decide that she really wants to have a cheeseburger from line one, but she would also like to have some macaroni and cheese from line two, and the fresh fruit on line three. In the past that would have been allowed if Sally had an entrée, a veggie, a fruit and a milk. Sally would have gone through the line and would have been charged for a meal and moved on her way. The new order of business will be as follows: Students will have to eat from only one line. If s/he would like to add something from another line there will be a charge. So often students want to add fries (these do not count as a veggie) to their plate and from this point forward s/he will be charged for adding that extra item: Fries--$.75 and an Entrée-$1.50. For example, Sally wants pizza from line one, but also wants fries from line two, those would both be considered a la carte items and Sally would be charged $2.25. *As always a student who owes money will not be allowed to get extras from any line. *A student can get up to one(1) cup of a veggie as well as one(1) cup of a fruit for no extra charge.
