AUCTION MEETING – October 12th 7:00 pm Come join us for our first auction meeting of the year! Everyone is welcome. Learn how to lend your time or talents at our annual auction. We will meet at Shield’s Pizza (23 and Romeo Plank) on October 12th at 7pm. Can’t wait to see you there!

SCHOOL PICTURES RE-TAKE DAY – Tuesday, October 17th (K-8) School pictures were a couple of weeks ago with the students. A re-take day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 17th. If you would like your child’s picture re-taken, you must return your child’s entire picture package before that day to the school office.

TRUNK N’ TREAT – Friday, October 27th 5:00-6:30 pm Grab your costumes & bring the kids to our Annual Trunk N’ Treat! Parents can park their cars and pop their trunks filled with candy for all of the children to experience the best Trunk N’ Treat in town! Games, Hayrides, Trunk Decorating Contest, Bonfire, and S’mores…it’s ALL FREE! Please register your car by 10/25 on our website.

Mrs. O’Meara – Chosen for 500th Reformation Service Our very own, Mrs. O’Meara, 2nd grade teacher, has been selected as one of two teachers from all the Lutheran schools in the state to participate in the processional ceremony at this Sunday’s 500th Anniversary of the Reformation service at the Breslin Center at MSU in East Lansing this Sunday, October 15th. Mrs. O’Meara reputation for having a heart for Jesus and mission projects is known throughout our state. What an honor to be chosen to represent our teachers! Congratulations, Mrs. O’Meara!

ACHATZ PIE SALE – PTL Fundraiser (K-8) Our K-8 grade students brought home Achatz Pie Sale order forms this week. We encourage you and your child to take orders from family, friends, and neighbors. Proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward our school. Here are some important dates for this sale –

October 23rd – Order forms and payments due – turn into teacher or school office, checks payable to Immanuel Lutheran School

November 6th at 3:16 pm – Pick up your pies in The Nook just in time for Thanksgiving and Christmas

School Pictures are coming up! Please look for information to come home in your child’s backpack about school pictures which will be October 23rd (Pre 4 and Praise and Play), and October 24th (Pre 3). If you know your child will miss their day, you are welcome to bring him/her on the opposite day. Retake dates are not yet scheduled.

Coughs, Sniffles, and Fevers, Oh My! It’s that time of year again…if your preschooler has symptoms of cold, flu or communicable disease, please do not send him/her to school. Once your child’s symptoms have gone away, and/or has been fever free for 24 hours, he/she will be welcome back at school. Please let us know via phone message or email if your child will not be at school. Also, if your child has been diagnosed with a communicable disease, (influenza, stomach virus, strep throat, pink eye, head lice, hand foot & mouth disease, etc.) please let us know.

Book Nook Night - October 23rd, 6:30 pm. Come in your PJ’s and hear some themed stories from your favorite teachers! More info to come! Trunk N’ Treat Please join us on Friday, October 27th for our Trunk N’ Treat festivities, 5-6:30pm. Families are encouraged to hand out candy from their cars, and decorate their trunks. The best decorated trunk wins a prize! There will be snacks, a hayride, bonfires with s’mores, music and fun. Click here to preregister.

God at Work through Us…Abigayle Ministries Mission Project September 6 - November 1 www.abigayleministries.org Abigayle Ministries is a Christian interdenominational non-profit organization in southeast Michigan. The ministry assists homeless pregnant women and their children by introducing them to the gospel of Jesus Christ and equipping them to be self-sufficient through its residential housing and educational program. Send donations in your child’s chapel envelope (or any envelope). You can give them to your child’s teacher or send it in their backpack.

Bible Study Opportunity Come learn about the Promises of God with Carol Pawlitz. Monday mornings, 8:30-9:00 in our Chapel. Join other parents as you start your week off on a positive note, learning about God’s promises for our lives.

Are you interested in learning more about the amazing gifts God gives to both young and old through baptism? Please join Janet Hilsabeck as she hosts Baptism Seminars on the 3rd Sunday of each month. God at Work through Us…Abigayle Ministries Mission Project September 6 - November 1 www.abigayleministries.org Abigayle Ministries is a Christian interdenominational non-profit organization in southeast Michigan. The ministry assists homeless pregnant women and their children by introducing them to the gospel of Jesus Christ and equipping them to be self-sufficient through its residential housing and educational program. Goal: Each grade level will furnish one bedroom for $360. School Goal: $3240.00 Currently Raised : $1316.00 – We need another $1924.00 in order to earn jeans for our Spirit Days the rest of the year!

MISSION PROJECT –THANKSGIVING BASKETS - Oct. 10th – Nov. 8th From October 10th – November 8th, Immanuel Lutheran Preschool – 8th Grade families are asked to help Immanuel’s food pantry to provide a Thanksgiving meal to people in need. We will fill forty boxes for forty families. The items below are what are needed. Each grade level is being asked to collect forty items. These items need to be collected no later than Wednesday, November 8th. Students will take their food item to their classrooms where they can count them as they reach their goal of forty. Families are welcome put together a box of all the items if they choose and deliver it to the lower level / church office. Full boxes will go to Immanuel families.

CHRISTMAS IN THE LAND OF OZ 7th & 8th Graders! It’s time again for Immanuel’s School Play! There will be a short meeting after school on Wednesday, October 18th 3:30-3:45pm in the Media Center. Those in sports have been cleared to attend this meeting. See Mrs. Pettibone with any questions.

NEW WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY – Starting Wednesday, October 11th New Women’s Bible study starting Wed, October 11 at 9:30am in the Chapel. Beth Moore’s The Quest – a 6 week excursion with Jesus – learn to dig deep into the Word, respond to the questions of God, and bring your questions before Him. Led by Karen Reincke. Free childcare available.

CEF (Church Extension Fund) STAMP DAY CHANGES Attention CEF participants! We are moving stamp day to Fridays! We will be celebrating our first month’s success following chapel next week by beginning our new Lego project! It is construction themed. Also, beginning the weekend of October 29th, Mrs. Southern will be at church before and after

Sunday School to further promote the CEF program, so look for her on your way to class!

RUMMAGE AND BAKE SALE – October 20th-21st Please don’t forget us when you do your house cleaning. Clothing, household items, etc are welcome. We cannot accept CRT computer monitors, Televisions that are over 10 years old, large furniture or appliances. We will be in the school gym on Wednesday, October 18 and Thursday October 19 until 2:30 p.m. to receive your donations. Because of lack of storage space, we ask that you not bring anything prior to these dates. Our Bake Sale will be a great success if you would donate your favorite cake, pie, bread, cookies or whatever you like

to make. Bring these items to the kitchen on Thursday October 19 or the morning of Friday, October 20.

classes, and of course we don't want that to happen!

Spanish has also been combined for all grades and will run Thursdays December 7 - March 15.
