General Councils of the Catholic Church.
Who would have thought, but there have been 21 General Councils of the Church. Maybe it should be 22 because the Council of Jerusalem 49 AD is not included, but was a very significant gathering of the Leadership of the Early Church.
Nicaea I took place in 325 AD. It is in the northwest corner of Turkey or as then known Asia Minor. It was called together by the Emperor not the Pope, but affirmed by the Pope. The word that has been reintroduced to the Nicene Creed comes from this Council. “Consubstantial” referring to Jesus as the same substance as the Father and not lesser as Arius the priest had taught.
Constantinople took place in 381. Today we call Constantinople, Istanbul. Again called by the Emperor, not attended by the Pope or his Legate, but later affirmed by the Church. It defined the Holy Ghost as divine, which had been challenged by Macedonius.
Ephesus met in 431. It is on the west coast of Turkey. That Mary was Mother of God came from this council. We now celebrate this feast on January 1st each year.
Calcedon, which is north of Constantinople, met twenty years later in 451. The false doctrine addressed here was that Christ was only divine. We now believe that he had two natures, both human and divine. Also the primacy of the Pope was confirmed.
Constantinople II met in 553, followed up on the work of Calcedon and denied the teaching of Nestorius regarding the single divine nature of Christ. Indirectly it also condemned Pelagius a British Monk who had denied the existence of original sin, saying it was just bad example.
Constantinople III met in 680. It met to deal with the claim that Christ had only one will instead of two, associated with both natures.
Nicea II came together in 787. Surprise, it was called by an Empress, wife of the deceased Emperor Leo IV and acting Regent for her son Constantine VI. It addressed the rejection of Papal authority and Iconoclasm related to images.
Constantinople IV met in 869. Photius was excommunicated because of his connection to a schism or break with the west.
All of the above were Councils held in the East and were called together by Emperors. Following this the Popes took charge and called their own Councils.
Perhaps you would do a little study on your own. We are part of an interesting Church.

Take, O Lord, and receive my
entire liberty, my memory, my
understanding and my whole
will. All that I am and all that
I possess. All You have given me:
I surrender it all to You to be
disposed of according to Your
will. Give me only Your love and
Your grace; with these I will be
rich enough, and will desire
nothing more. Amen
