You will recall that Jesus, as
recorded in John 13:33, said to the
twelve apostles: "My children, I will
be with you only a lile long-
er....Where I am going you cannot
come." Shortly therea$er Simon
Peter asked him, "Lord, where are
you going?" Then Jesus replied
"Where I am going, you cannot fol-
low me now but you will follow lat-
er.....I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three
+mes." (John 13:36-38). This must have been very upse0ng to Peter. However, Je-
sus followed that predic+on with some memorable and treasured words.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You trust in God, trust in me also. In my
Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going
there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3
What a promise made by the Son of God who loved us so profoundly that he
experienced a terribly painful death on a cross although he was not guilty of any sin
or wrongdoing.
Jesus said "do not be troubled" then died on the cross because of your sins
and mine! Walter
Bryan Dill, candidate for our minister posion,
