October 2010 Treasured Possessions Friends, During my life, no matter where I’ve moved to, I’ve kept with me several treasured possessions. Things like diplo-mas, books, Bibles, hand drawn cards from our kids, photos, etc. These things are different from other possessions be-cause they remind me of special loving relationships I’ve had with family and friends! Let me share a Bible verse with you: ―The Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on the face of the earth to be his people, his treasured possession.‖ Deuteron-omy 7:6 When I read this verse, I think of these treasured possessions and remember that we have been set apart as God’s treasured possession. Within each of us is a deep long-ing to be loved and cherished. God loves us not because of who we are or anything we might do. God loves us because love is the nature of God, in whose sight we are of unsurpass-able value. Remember to regard yourself as God regards you – a unique, irreplaceable, and beloved creation with a divine and eternal plan and purpose. Don’t allow what others say to drag you down. Don’t put yourself down. Hold your head up and face the world with the knowledge that you are a child of God and your Father is the King of the Universe! Have a great month! See you in November!! Keep Your Eyes Fixed on Jesus! B.G. Psalm 103:13-14 Phillipians 4:19 1 John 4:14 John 15: 9-13, 17 Jeremiah 31:3

Airman Logan M. Jokisch graduated from basic train-ing at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas on August
20, 2010. Logan was a member of Training Squadron 331, Flight 542. His flight earned recognition for Physical Training Excellence and Drill Excellence. The
Drill excellence award is only given out every 2 to 3 years so this was quite an honor for Flight 542. This was quite an honor as Lackland AFB graduates 50
classes a year. His flight‘s flag carried extra ribbons for these honors during the Airman‘s Coin Ceremony and Graduation Parade. Logan is currently attending 8
months of technical school at Keesler AFB, Mississippi where he is currently studying meteorology. He is a 2009 graduate of A-C Central High School. Logan is
the son of Marshall and Julia Jokisch of Ashland, IL. Grandparents are Wayne and Phyllis Stevens and George and Marge Jokisch, all of Ashland.

Second Saturday
―In the beginning, the earth was empty. Darkness covered everything. But God was there, and He had a plan.‖ * That was the theme for the kick-off of the 8th season of Second Saturday at the Ashland United Methodist Church. Twenty-two children gathered to learn about the wonder of God‘s Creation. They were encouraged to develop a plan to create their own world and began the process of making a paper mache globe which will be continued throughout the season. Second Saturday is trying a new approach this season by having a theme that carries through from September to May. Each month, we will focus on one of the days of Creation. ―Let there be light, He said. And suddenly, golden light shone all around.
God called it day. He called the darkness night. With the light and darkness, the first day passed.‖ * When we meet on October 9th, our focus will be the first day of Creation with a special lesson on light and dark from Pastor Dave McHenry.
