We have been offering workshops and healings from our Hawaiian lineage for manyyears now. Some of you may have wondered exactly what this is all about, so we’vedecided to offer an introductory one-day workshop that gives insight into the founda-tions of our Hawaiian lineage and why it is one of the purest paths to self-knowledgeand healing.

As the Hawaiians say, life is a school without walls. There are many ways to learnand grow spiritually. Being interested in spirituality, you’ve probably noticed by nowthat wise men and women of different cultures are stepping forth to share the waysof their ancestors. There are the Native Americans, the Peruvians, the yogis of India,the Tibetans…and, the Hawaiians.

The wisdom of the Hawaiian people is said to be 10,000 years old. In myth andlegend, the stories go back to the dawn of creation and the great migrations ofhuman beings into the modern ages through Polynesia. Along with this legacy,the Hawaiians deepened their wisdom through their integrative connection withnature. Hawaii is the most isolated populated land in the world – more than2,000 miles in any direction from other populated areas. With this isolationcomes the purity of the culture and of the elements of nature: winds untouchedby land for thousands of miles; stunningly clean ocean waters; lucidity of the sunand stars and clouds.

“Hawaiians live in both worlds – the visible and tangible on earth andthe spiritual, where their ‘aumakua (family spirit guides) reside. Theygather information to make life decisions from both the waking worldand in dreams, from signs, visitations, omens and divine guidance. Until the coming of the missionaries, there was very little to pollute the Hawai-ian way of life and co-existence with nature. At that point, as in many globalcultures, the knowledge went underground.

However, the oral traditions live on, and the truth of the ancestral teachings ofHawaii is there to be shared with those who are called to listen.

Rick (Pono) and Linda (Ha’awi) have studied witha teacher from a Hawaiian lineage untouched byWesterners until the last 20 years. Our studiesinvolve much time spent in the islands, observingand embodying the energies, rituals and under-standings that were available to us.

The teachings of our very unique lineage focus on healing of the self and oth-ers through a partnership with the elemental qualities of nature. However, thefoundational philosophies and spiritual understandings are common among allthe Hawaiian lineages, and it is those we would like to share with you in thisnew workshop.

The 2012 License Renewal Season has begun! Postcards reminding us to complete our requirements andsubmit our renewals are arriving in the mail already. Do you have your required Continuing EducationHours completed from approved providers?

The best option is an NCBTMB approved provider (such as us!) because CE Hours are accepted forNational Certifi cation, most state licensure, ABMP, and AMTA renewals.

In Illinois, you must complete 24 hours of Continuing Education and 2 of those must be a separate EthicsClass. For National Certifi cation, you need 6 hours of ethics every renewal. Also, distance education is being accepted by most agencies (such as our two Ethics and our Voices of the Chakras ONLINE Courses)and you can use up to 12 CE Hours done in the distance education format.

Is it the right time, place and season for you?

Reiki is a Japanese word translated as ‘spiritual energy’. The word ‘Reiki’has become synonymous with a system of healing which has entered themainstream of Western life. You’ve all heard of it – many of you havetaken one or more levels in the various lineages.

As we approach the end of 2012, perhaps it is time to open your heart andyour life to this spiritual path. Yes, Reiki is a spiritual life path, a way toheal not only others but oneself. It is a beautiful, powerful yet simple path,a way of living in harmony with Heaven, Earth, and your Connection to allthat exists.

Linda and Rick have studied several different Reiki “lineages”. A lineage is a way to trace one’s certifi cation back through individual teachers to the founder of Reiki, Usui Mikao. The deeper one goes into the studyand practice of Reiki, the more understanding surfaces for us to realize that the lineage is one of spirit, of aninternal knowing that you are connected to the teachings and the jumon (mantras) and shirushi (symbols),and how these have been put together to show us the way to enlightenment.

In order to be an effective “healer”, one must fi rst work with healing one’s own life. This is the most important thing you need to know! In Shoden (Level 1 ofthe system of Reiki that we teach), you will open the door to a way of empoweringyourself to create serenity in your daily life, through ancient practices of breathwork and meditation. You will experience your own life force and how this can beconcentrated in your hands to offer hands-on healing treatments to yourself andothers. You will learn about the Japanese energy centers of the body and how theyrelate to wholeness and balance. You will meditate upon the Reiki Precepts, thecore of the teachings and the “secret” to happiness. And, you will receive four Reiju(attunements, or spiritual blessings) to assist and support you as you move into thesebeginning understandings.

After you have been practicing the Shoden level techniques for awhile, you may consider thenext level of study. In Okuden (Level 2), you will focus more deeply on your self-healing.Tools will be offered and practiced that will awaken and resonate with your energy centersto promote spiritual growth and well-being. These include the jumon (mantras), whichare chanted aloud, and three of the four shirushi (symbols). These practices are someof the most profound you will EVER come across, and they effect rapid progress on yourpersonal journey. You’ll also learn the deeper meaning of “distant” healing and practice thattechnique, and receive two more Reiju.

The practices of Okuden are imperative to attaining the wisdom and clarity necessary for thefi nal level, called Shinpiden. Therefore your teachers will remain available to you for the time necessary for you to progress through the Shoden and Okuden practices and master them.We’ll be offering Reiki practice nights that are different from what you may usually encounter,because we will be doing the meditative work and jumon chanting as well as the hands-ontreatments. We will also offer individual guidance and counseling by appointment.

We are offering both Shoden and Okuden this fall, and we encourage any of you who have been consideringReiki training, as well as any who have studied in different lineages, to give yourself this opportunity toconnect with ancient Japanese teachings that are still so impactful and relevant to our Western society today.

Next year, we will offer the Shinpiden training on an as-needed basis to those of our students who havecommitted to this path. Shinpiden takes you deeper into the mysteries of the teachings. You will receive thefi nal shirushi and jumon, and learn how to do reiju. You’ll also receive outlines for that time when you feel you are ready to begin teaching this system. Shinpiden is an invitation to becoming all that you can be – theembodiment of Reiki – for the benefi t of yourself and those you touch during your everyday life.
