Cubmaster's CornerHello Scouts and Parents!

I hope the start of the scouting and school year isgoing well for everyone. Hopefully your popcornsales are through the roof, and we' ll have our ownPinewood Derby track when the dust clears! Thankyou to everyone who volunteered for Olson FamilyFit day. It was pretty windy, but it looked likeeveryone was having a good time. October's scouttheme is "Responsibility" and it is also "Fire SafetyMonth" , so take a few minutes to think about theresponsible things you and your family can do topractice Fire Safety!

Thanks,Brian BieniekPack 801 Pack Leader

The Bear Den isoff to aROARING start. At the Septemberden meeting theycreated a one-of-a-kind Bear flag, practiced the flagceremony for thePack meeting, started ascrapbook, beganan exercise log,and created their own Code of Conduct.

They also helped out at the PTO sponsored Family FitDay fundraiser. They enjoyed the volunteer workalmost as much as the Fun Fit Day activities! Sellingpopcorn has been a hit with the Bears, too. Successfullyselling the large UW tin of Chocolate Lovers Popcornto Coach Anderson's wife had a couple Bears withcheek to cheek smiles on their face!

A lot of fun is in store for the Bear Den duringOctober. Check next month's newsletter for pictures ofthe Bear den sitting inside the Police Department' sholding cell and also making their way through aMadison park using maps and compasses.

Our next Den meeting is November 7th at 6:30pmat the Madison Police Department (1710 McKennaBlvd). We also have a Field Event on Saturday,October 19th at 9:00 am at the Valley Ridge Park(1281 Meadow Sweet Drive) for Map and CompassFun!

Our first meeting of the year was postponed due tothunderstorms (seems to be a trend for us). But thatdidn't stop us, for the next week we had a beautifulevening. We did a litter pick-up at Olson Elementaryfirst. Then we learned about bike safety and ended themeeting with a 4-mile bike ride. It was a great way tokick off the year!
