From the President Welcome to the October Edition of Power Press. It has been a busy time for our Netball Club with the start of a new season, and the trials, training and play of a tournament opportunity. Congratulations to all involved in the Craigieburn Tournament. It was an outstanding result and demonstrates the progress our club is making in developing talented players and coaches. Read all about it inside this edition. But, we don't rest on our laurels with opportunities coming up to further develop Coaches and Um- pires in the near future. Thanks to Yvette Davidson for arranging a Foundations Coaching Course locally, and to Ashlee Landy for taking on the role of Umpires Coordinator. If you want to improve your skills and get your qualifications in either of these areas the club will encourage you to do so by reimbursing you for the cost to be involved. Our Junior Committee has met for a second time and have taken on roles. Under the leadership of Chloe Freeman and Liana Pritchard they are looking at some fundraising ideas to generate money that they can put into Junior Committee projects. Support of the 2nd Hand Uniform Shop would be a great way to give back to our club and the junior members. Our club photos will be taken shortly (see timetable inside) and is a service we provide to all of our junior teams to capture the moment. Please support this by making sure you are available for your team and buying a team photo. And it’s time for us as a club to think about nominating a Club Champion for 2014. Someone who has stood out to you for going over and above to make your team or our club a better place. Nomination details are enclosed. Enjoy the rest of the season. Go Power! Tournament News - Cra igieburn

The Craigieburn Tournament was a huge success.

We had a variety of results. The U11's won 2 and lost 3. The U15's battled all day and won their last game with a never give up

attitude. The U17's were up against some great opposition but worked hard, and the U13's won their division.

But the experience of going to trials, training as a squad and then playing a tournament day against different clubs at a different

venue with different umpires will benefit all of our teams and our club overall.

Many thanks to our coaches Adam, Kath, Calvin and Bridie and our umpires Olivia Hughes, Kate Masten, Claudia Levings, and Lisa

McBain. Great job Power!

The photos have been rescheduled for either Monday 13th October or Thursday 16th October. The schedule for photos is below and players must be in their club playing uniform. Photos must be ordered and paid for at the time of photographing just like school photos.

Team Photos - Rescheduled

Our Junior Committee is up and running and have already started taking on roles around the club.

I have taken on the role of umpiring coordinator and am happy to answer any questions or help anyone interested in becoming an

umpire. It really is a rewarding part-time job and everything you learn can be put into improving your game!

If you have any questions or would like to start the pathway to becoming an umpire feel free to contact me at lncumpir-

[email protected].

Now would be the perfect time to get started as there is a Level One umpiring course coming up at Parade College in Bundoora

on the 28th of November and the 5th of December at 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Thanks,

Ashlee Landy

As a club we are now almost 5 years old, and we have noticed that lots of our members are

growing with us.

The Junior Committee has decided to initiate a second hand uniform shop, selling pre-loved

donations of Laurimar Netball Club uniform and merchandise at a reduced price.

We plan to use the funds raised by the shop for future Junior Committee projects.

If you have any uniform or merchandise that you have grown out of and would be happy to

help us out by donating, please contact Ashlee Landy or any of the junior committee mem-

bers and we will organise to collect it from you.

The junior committee has just formed a few months ago. This gives us a chance to have a role and contribute to the club. We hope to bring fun to the club. We have some new uniform ideas which are currently being investigated. However the committee has come up with an idea that we should start up a 2nd hand uniform shop. All of these stocks will be taken as donations, sold at half price (depending on condition). So if you have any old uniform, or are too small for your child and would like to donate to the Laurimar junior committee then please hand it all to Ashlee Landy who is in charge of second hand shop. All money raised through this will go back to help the club. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to ask a junior committee

member and we will be happy to help you.

Wow, NSG participants are now at the half way mark! It's great to see the girls in their t-shirts every week! Our catching and throwing is improving by the week! Now in the next term we will be playing more "proper games", so I'm sure they will all love that!

Thanks to the parents who help out, especially Jodi. Your help every week is appreciated with a diverse group of girls! To all the enquiries we are getting about Net Set Go, we truly are sorry we haven't been able to take any further enrolment. Next year we are looking to offer two groups so if anyone is interested in helping to run this program please contact the club.

For all enquires about Net Set Go in 2015 contact Treasa on 0418 101 753.

The club and junior committee are working on a new warm up jacket for our netball players. The jacket will zip up at the front and be made from soft shiny fabric that is fleecy on the inside. It will have a hooded top and pockets at the front and it will include netball logos and the option to put the player name on the back. The sample jacket has been designed and made by Daluna Sportswear who make our club dresses. Many thanks to Caroline and Peter for their work on this.
