There will be some new faces at the next general meeting we had four new members join our council. Recruiting and screening and making sure all new members do their degrees takes a lot of time and dedication. There are so many things that I am learning about what has to happen and when it has to happen to make this council run. So I thank all the brothers and sisters of this council that work Bingo for their hard work and dedica- tion to our bingo operation and thank you to the brothers that have been doing a great job recruiting new members for this council. These two things are important to the future success of this council. So many brothers and sisters help here and there at our council if it’s working bingo, recruiting, paying the bills, or maintaining the facilities it’s all very much appreciated.

October 2016Grand Knight --------------------------------- Louie MorenoBrothers,

September was busy month for our council! We had a couple great events The Night for Religious and the Spanish First Degree teams Fiesta. It was great to see our brothers pitch in to make these events a success. There will be some new faces at the next general meeting we had four new members join our council.

You want help with bingo this is the opportunity to reach out to these new guys and show them the ropes. Recruiting and screening and making sure all new members do their degrees takes a lot of time and dedication. There are so many things that I am learning about what has to happen and when it has to happen to make this council run. So I thank all the brothers and sisters of this council that work Bingo for their hard work and dedica-tion to our bingo operation and thank you to the brothers that have been doing a great job recruiting new members for this council.

These two things are important to the future success of this council. So many brothers and sisters help here and there at our council if it’s working bingo, recruiting, paying the bills, or maintaining the facilities it’s all very much appreciated.

IT’S TIMEFOR THE Yellow Vests

The Annual Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds for the Columbian Foundation to Help People With Intellectual Disabilities will be held at 4 Stater Bros. Markets; 2 Markets on the weekends of October 15 & 16 and 2 on the following weekend, Oct. 22 & 23. PGK Paul McJunkin has been working, diligently, to fill the 3 hr. shifts. Hopefully, the schedule will be completed by the time you read this, however, if more manpower will be needed, then we will still be calling, so please be responsive if that happens. The Captains in charge of the markets' solicitation are: Louis Avalos & Mike Kovack. They will give instruction & direction.

The drive at the churches will be held on Oct. 29 & 30. Now, we all have an obligation to go to Mass sometime on that weekend. At the Mass that you attend please lend a hand by coming out right after communion where the Knight in charge will give you an apron, a can and some Tootsie Roll Candy so that you can stand outside at one of the church exits and solicit the parishioners as they leave the church. A person does not have to give in order to get a candy bar, and we love to give a bar to the kids.

I would chalk up the Night for Religious as a great success! I want to thank all the brother’s that helped Mike, Paul D., Paul M., Louis, Sam, John

Henry, George, Dominic, David, Phil, Don, Mario and our Lady Knights Elena, Judy and Jennifer.

Everything went way smother than I had planned in my mind. The service was fast and on point we did a great job and the nuns had a great time.

Brother Dominic had some good jokes and will make a great bingo caller someday. Special thanks to Deacon Glass for saying the prayers and

bringing the Grand Knight back into orbit.

Wednesday nights 7pm to 9pm in the Council Lounge!

Brother Knights and friends,As we enter into the beautiful autumn with apple pies, pumpkin bread, brats and beer, and the festivi-ties related to the Eve of All Saints Day, you know as Halloween, take time to reflect that it is the autumn of our lives as well. Sooner or later, we will all be called home to face Our Lord and hear His judgement. Will it be, "well done, good and faithful servant," or "depart from me"? As scary as that may sound, it is reality. So friends, let us rededicate ourselves to our Faith in Christ Jesus and His one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church, and serve the least, the sick, the dying, the poor and those marginalized in a society that often worships the false gods of technology, science, sports, greed and power. Matthew 25:40

Also, let us to ask Mother Mary to help us to Jesus by praying the Holy Rosary which is celebrated on October 11, as Our Lady of the Rosary or Our Lady of Victory, as St. Pius V petitioned the faithful to pray for victory over the Muslim fleet in 1571 at Lepanto. That prayer was answered, and Chris-tendom was saved, then. How about now as we daily face the threat of Islamic terrorism?SK Bob Herness

We will be having our corporate mass at St. Adelaide’s on November 6th at the 9:00 am mass with a reception after.

Reception will be at parish or council more details at general meeting.

It is no secret that when the ACLU and other agencies are whipping up new programs and legislative bills, they will choose names that will fool the public into thinking that such activity is in keeping with God-like intentions. Such was the case with the name, Military Religious Foundation. This atheist pressure group, made up of civilian Obama DOD appointees made it a crime for Chaplains and soldiers in the military to share their Christian Faith punishable by court martial and possible impris-onment. The latest demand is that Chaplains who oppose homosexual/lesbian marriage be purged from the military. A whole host of other restrictions, too numerous to state here, have also been levied upon our Christian Military.

Please call, write, or send Emails to: Your House Representative, Senate Majority Leader, MitchMcConnell, and Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan to take legislative action to reverse such restrictions. This should be a non-partisan issue, so that both political parties could and must work together to generate corrective actions.

Thank you to all who supported the Dinner and a Movie night, and especially to Angie and Terry for their hard work. It was a very enjoyable evening, as usual, and we are looking forward to the next one in November.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our October Bingo luncheon for lack of a chairperson, but we are beginning to work on our annual Christmas raffle which will be held on December 17.

The ladies will be cooking dinner for the October meeting. The menu will include meat loaf, mashed potatoes, corn, salad and rolls.

Sincerely,Judy FigueroaKnights' Ladies President
