Fruit or vegetable — Do you know the differ-ence? According to botanists (those who study plants) a fruit is the part of the plant that develops from a flower. It's also the sec-tion of the plant that contains the seeds. The other parts of plants are considered vegeta-bles. These include the stems, leaves and roots — and even the flower bud.

Exceptional Student Education

Disabilities Awareness

The first two weeks in October are designated as a time

to build better awareness and understanding of students

with disabilities. Our goals are: 1) to encourage the de-

velopment of self-esteem and pride in accomplishments

of all of our students: 2) to support the commitment for

all individuals with disabilities to contribute to their

communities; 3) to increase our attention to preventing

bullying of students with disabilities (Disability Aware-

ness Law 2008).

Through media and class discussions, students

will learn about people with disabilities who have ac-

complished great things in their lives. We will focus on

what individuals can do to be successful and happy at

school and at home. We will build an understanding that

people with disabilities like to be accepted and included

by their peers. We will remember to treat others in the

way that we would like to be treated. We will focus on

strengths and abilities, and we will celebrate the unique-

ness that each individual possesses in our school com-

munity.

Check out the ESE web page on our school site for more

information regarding Students with Disabilities!

HAPPY FALL!!!!

We are seeing more and more students participating

in our breakfast program. We want to invite your

child to give our breakfast program a try. I know

that they will find something they like. We are of-

fering more choices each and every day. We love

seeing their smiling faces in the mornings.

If you haven’t filled out a new application for free

and reduced breakfast and lunch you will find that

the expiration date was September 22, and your

child has gone to full pay. It is not too late to fill the

application out and send it in or you can go online

and get it through faster.

We are glad that more of you are using the online

pay program myschoolbucks.com. This is a great

way to keep track of your child’s account. We ap-

preciate our parents keeping their child’s account up

to date using this program. If you need help with

this you can give us a call and we will assist you.

Thank you,

Patti Combee, FS Manager
