Administration Message
We had such a great turn out for our “Dads Take Your Child to School Day”. We had over 400 adults and students attend the breakfast. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the time together. We saw students working with their family member/friend on the fun worksheets called “Interview a Special Person” and “Name (Acrostic) Poem”, and many just enjoying a great conversation. We would like to thank the following for their time or donations: Publix at Sorrento Springs; Mt. Dora Wal-Mart; Eustis Dunkin Donuts; and Seminole Springs Elementary PTO, Teachers, and Staff. We want to personally thank the Seminole Springs family for all of your heartfelt donations for Cents for Soldiers! Because of your kind generations, the Fourth Graders were able to raise well over $1,000.00!!!! This amount is so much more than we ever dreamed. Our hearts are truly full! We look forward to seeing everyone at all of our events planned for this month.

POETRY CORNER
To Some It’s Called
Halloween
To some it’s known as
“Halloween,”
or else “All Hallows Eve.”
To some it’s simply
“Dress Up Day,”
a time for make believe.
And some folks call it
“Trick or Treat,”
when ghosts and witches
play.
To others it’s the night
before the day called
“All Saints Day.”
It’s got so many different
names, but this is what I
say: To me
October thirty-first
is called “Free Candy
Day.”

Dear Parents,
October is one of our busiest months, so please read over the Bear Facts calendar for all of our important dates.
We have our Charleston Wrap Fall Fundraiser going on until October 18th. We are selling wrapping paper as well as
kitchen & home items. It has online sales, so it is easy & convenient for out of town family & friends to purchase
items! This will be one of our biggest fundraisers of the year, so your support is appreciated! Our October PTO meet-
ing will be on Tuesday, October 11th at 3:30 PM! Friday, October 28th is our annual Fall Festival! Join us from 5:30-8
for games, costume contests, candy, food trucks & more! We are asking each child to bring in 2 bags of individually
wrapped candy. If you are able to volunteer a 30 minute shift that night, we would appreciate it!

Fruit or vegetable — Do you know the differ-ence? According to botanists (those who study plants) a fruit is the part of the plant that develops from a flower. It's also the sec-tion of the plant that contains the seeds. The other parts of plants are considered vegeta-bles. These include the stems, leaves and roots — and even the flower bud.
Exceptional Student Education
Disabilities Awareness
The first two weeks in October are designated as a time
to build better awareness and understanding of students
with disabilities. Our goals are: 1) to encourage the de-
velopment of self-esteem and pride in accomplishments
of all of our students: 2) to support the commitment for
all individuals with disabilities to contribute to their
communities; 3) to increase our attention to preventing
bullying of students with disabilities (Disability Aware-
ness Law 2008).
Through media and class discussions, students
will learn about people with disabilities who have ac-
complished great things in their lives. We will focus on
what individuals can do to be successful and happy at
school and at home. We will build an understanding that
people with disabilities like to be accepted and included
by their peers. We will remember to treat others in the
way that we would like to be treated. We will focus on
strengths and abilities, and we will celebrate the unique-
ness that each individual possesses in our school com-
munity.
Check out the ESE web page on our school site for more
information regarding Students with Disabilities!
HAPPY FALL!!!!
We are seeing more and more students participating
in our breakfast program. We want to invite your
child to give our breakfast program a try. I know
that they will find something they like. We are of-
fering more choices each and every day. We love
seeing their smiling faces in the mornings.
If you haven’t filled out a new application for free
and reduced breakfast and lunch you will find that
the expiration date was September 22, and your
child has gone to full pay. It is not too late to fill the
application out and send it in or you can go online
and get it through faster.
We are glad that more of you are using the online
pay program myschoolbucks.com. This is a great
way to keep track of your child’s account. We ap-
preciate our parents keeping their child’s account up
to date using this program. If you need help with
this you can give us a call and we will assist you.
Thank you,
Patti Combee, FS Manager
