WE DAY Adventure in Toronto!

Nine members of the Take Action team were rewarded with their tremendous efforts over the last couple of years with a trip to Toronto to attend WE Day. The girls, along with Mme Mitchell and Mr. Dokis, were treated to many motivational speakers and performers including Olympians Penny Oleksiak and Andre Degras, activist

and paralympian Rick Hanson, and singer Kelly Clarkson. A very special guest, Prince Harry, surprised the crowd with some words of encouragement to continue working together to make the world a better place. The Take Action team is working on a few events for the year. The first one this year will be a slushie day in support of the Red Cross and the recent natural disasters!

Terry Fox Run and Turkey Trot We had a very successful Terry Fox Run and Turkey Trot. We will

announce our grand totals soon. Thank you so much for your contributions and support!

Character Education Trait

This month our Character Education Trait is Responsibility. Responsibility is being accountable for one’s actions and to know and

follow various rules, laws and conduct codes. Responsible citizens treat others fairly, are trustworthy, honor their commitments, and are

environmentally aware. Responsibility infuses itself into all aspects of our lives- athletics, giving others opportunities to shine, and making the

right decision.

Our Responsibility assembly is on Monday, October 30th at 10 am. Parents are welcome to attend.

Beginning of Day Drop Off and End of Day Pick up **Front Lobby

There is no supervision until 8:30 am. Students should not be at breakfast club or on the playground until 8:30 am. Students are to go directly to the playground and not through the front doors, unless they are going to breakfast club first. A friendly reminder that our front doors remain locked until 3:05 pm. If you are planning to pick

up your child early, please inform the classroom teacher or secretary in advance. We will not be unlocking or answering front doors between 2:50 and 3:05 pm.

Fire Drills and Lockdown

The safety of students at school is a priority for us. We utilize a wide variety of measures to ensure student safety, including fire, evacuation, and lockdowns. Each year these drills are practiced to ensure that our students and staff are prepared and safe in the event of an emergency. All schools prepare for such events and we want students, parents and staff to be fully aware and ready to handle these situations. We have practiced two fire drills since the first day of school. We will be practicing another fire drill this month. On Tuesday, October 17th we will practice our first lockdown. We will be talking with students over the next week to explain the purpose of a lockdown and do our best to ease any anxieties. We recognize that lockdown practices can be uneasy for children and we will support them through this. We want parents to be aware of our practices. Some children may want to talk about these safety procedures at home as well. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
