TLS MYSTERY CAL – The Loopy Stitch About: Join in on my second crochet-along: the ‘TLS Mystery CAL’. This CAL is a three-part pattern which will be released weekly, commencing 13 th October 2019. Ravelry: If you have Ravelry I would love you to ‘Project’ it, that way I can see your beautiful creations. Social Media: please use the hashtag #tlsmysterycal so myself and others can see your pieces too (just remember you must have a public account for your photo to be seen) Materials: 5 colours (or however many you want to use) Corresponding hook with yarn Scissors Yarn needle Blocking equipment if you choose to block J Notes: Each round is started with a standing st unless otherwise stated – watch this video on how to make standing stitches You can make standing stitches out of any stitch required by simply having a slip knot on you hook already and then make the stitch as per instructions e.g standing single crochet; with a loop on hook, insert hook into stitch indicated, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through two loops, standing treble crochet; with a loop on hook, yarn over twice, insert hook into indicated stitch, pull up a loop, (yarn over and pull through two loops) three times If you prefer an invisible join, please make one where it states to jss to 1 st st to - watch this video on how to make invisible joins Finished piece can be blocked if desired This pattern is written for different colours, with 5 colours used as a guide, you can be adventurous and use 10 if you like (each colour was used twice throughout) I recommend weaving in ends at the very end of the project once you decide what you’ll be doing with it J Clusters in this pattern refer to treble stitches Repeats are within parenthesis and asterisks [ ] * * ( )

• If you’re going to be following this pattern exactly as it is with colour changes too, you’ll need C3, C4, C5 J

• If you’re using your own colour choices, then just follow the pattern, ignoring where it says to cut yarn and start using new colours.

Stitches and Abbreviations Used: Jss – Join with slip st Ch/s – Chain/s Sl st – Slip st St/s – Stitch/es Y.O – yarn over C1-C5 – Colour 3 – colour 5 Sc – single crochet – With loop on hook, insert hook into st indicated, pull up a loop, y.o pull through two loops Puff 3 – [y.o, insert hook into st indicated and pull up a loop] three times, y.o and pull through 6 loops on hook, y.o and pull through last two remaining loops. Tr – treble crochet – with loop on hook, y.o twice, insert hook into indicated st, pull up a loop, [y.o pull through two loops] three times

Beg cluster – Ch 3, [yarn over twice and insert hook into indicated st or sp, y.o pull up a loop, (y.o and pull through two loops) twice, leaving two loops on hook], twice, y.o and pull through all 3 loops. Cluster – [y.o twice and insert hook into indicated st or sp, pull up a loop, (y.o and pull through two loops) twice, leaving two loops on hook], three times, y.o and pull through all 4 loops. Fpsc – with loop on hook, insert hook from front to back to front of stitch, pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through all loops

Rnd 13: Using C3 – In any middle dc, make a standing sc, (tr, ch 5, tr) in sc from prev rnd, [sc in 3rd dc, (tr, ch 5, tr) in sc] around, jss to 1st sc made, do not cut yarn. [21 (tr, ch 3, tr), 21 sc] Rnd 14: In sc from prev rnd, make a beg cluster, ch 3, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 3, [cluster in sc, ch 3, sc in ch-5 sp, ch 3] around, jss to beg cluster, cut yarn. [21 cluster, 21 sc, 42 ch-3 sp] Rnd 15: Using C4 – In any cluster from prev rnd, make a standing sc, ch 5, puff 3 in sc, ch 5, [sc in cluster, ch 5, puff 3 in sc, ch 5] around, jss to 1st sc made, do not cut yarn. [21 sc, 21 puff 3, 42 ch-5 sp] Rnd 16: sl st in next 2 ch sts of ch-5 made in prev rnd, sl st in ch-sp, ch 1 (doesn’t count as st) [2 sc in ch-5 sp, ch 5] around, jss to 1st sc made, do not cut yarn.
