the spooky decorations that may be lurking around.
The fall season also brings the return of the Escondido
Grand Avenue Festival, which will be held on Sunday,
October 17 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in Escondido Historic
Downtown on Grand Ave. from Centre City Parkway to
Juniper. Enjoy a wonderful stroll and peruse the variety of booths at the street faire.

Employee Spotlights - Autumn Nuno - Senior Service Aid II
Join us in welcoming Autumn Nuno to the nutrition team. On her first day,
Autumn jumped right in and started to lead the team in the nutrition kitchen.
She keeps the place in top shape and works hard. When she is not working,
Autumn keeps busy with her husband, two kids, and six pets (3 reptiles, 2
cats, and a dog). Autumn also volunteers and loves to attend her children’s
sporting events.
Rosanne Martin - Senior Service Aid I
Let’s also welcome Roseanne “Rose” Martin to the nutrition team. Rose is
here to help with the transportation of our Seniors who come in for lunch.
Rose is originally from the beautiful garden state of New Jersey, and has
been in Escondido now for 8 years. Her interests include James Bond
movies, Sci/Fi Fantasy books, plants, and being in the
kitchen! Since Rose has been here, she has found
inspiration through her conversations with the seniors.
Welcome to the PACC community Autumn and Rose!

2021 Helen Putnam Award
The City of Escondido is proud to be the recipient of a 2021 Helen Putnam Award in the category of: Economic Development through the Arts for the “Beautify Escondido” mural project, which promoted local artwork to increase foot traffic to struggling businesses along Grand Avenue.
When the COVID-19 pandemic changed how businesses needed to operate to stay open, Escondido adopted an Emergency Business Recovery Strategy, which included placing barriers along Grand Avenue to allow for expanded outdoor sidewalk and on-street dining and retail. Once business operations were moved outside, the Escondido arts community came together to paint the blank barriers with art murals to draw additional attention to the struggling businesses.
What started as a temporary fix to keep business doors open turned into a community movement that now brings visitors to see the art and support local businesses.
Established in 1982 by the League of California Cities, the Helen Putnam Award for Excellence is given annually and recognizes outstanding achievements by California's 482 cities. The purpose of the Helen Putnam Award for Excellence program is to promote innovative solutions by city governments. The 2021 winners, recognized for their outstanding programs, were chosen from 125 submissions.

Community Advisory Group – Homelessness
Future Meeting - October 19, 2021
This meeting will be held from 6-7:30 PM in the Mitchell Room at City Hall. Open to new members.
The topic of this meeting will be Business and Commercial Property Partnerships and we will focus on all of the impacts of homelessness on the business community, including ways to minimize impacts on private property, and the effects that transiency has on local commerce. We will also dive into the importance of creating cohesive partnerships that will result in meaningful long-term solutions that are beneficial for all. This should be the goal for all commercial property and business owners in Escondido. We strongly encourage those in the business community to join us and voice the issues that they are facing.
Disaster Preparedness and Fire Prevention Week

Booster Shot Available in San Diego County for Those Who Received Pfizer Vaccine
Following the CDC and California Department of Public Health’s recommendations, the County is urging eligible San Diegans to get a Pfizer COVID-19 booster shot if they initially received the Pfizer two-dose vaccine series and it has been six months since they became fully vaccinated. Those who received either the Modera two dose vaccine series or the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are not currently eligible to receive a booster shot. More information on the need for booster shots for the groups will be released once additional data becomes available.
The following groups should receive a third dose of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
• People age 65 and older • Residents age 18 and older in long-term care settings • People 50-65 years old with underlying medical conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, • heart disease and compromised immune systems
The following groups may receive a booster shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, based on their personal benefits and risks:
• People age 18-49 with underlying medical condition • People age 18-64 who are at increased risk for COVID-19 exposure and transmission
because of occupational or institutional setting, such as first responders, grocery store workers, etc.
San Diegans who received the Pfizer two-dose series and who fall into the above categories should talk to their health care providers about whether getting a booster shot is appropriate for them. To schedule your appointment, visit MyTurn or find a walk-in clinic that is offering the Pfizer vaccine booster shot. You can also hind a complete list of locations at www.coronavirus-sd.com or call 2-1-1 for help scheduling an appointment. Note a physician’s referral is not required to receive a booster shot.

Prepare Now For An Emergency Later
Emergencies come in many forms such as
wildfires, storms, earthquakes or floods. There’s
no better time to prepare for an emergency than right now. Every
family is different, but here are some tips and resources to help you
plan and stay safe should an emergency happen.
Develop an emergency plan. Identify a place to meet with family, safe routes and
shelters, as well as what actions you will take. Discuss and practice the plan with your
family, including your children and pets.
Prepare an emergency kit for at least three days. Keep essentials on hand like water
(one gallon per person per day), a first aid kit, flashlight, canned goods, medicine,
clothes and cash. Stock your kit with items you and your family need, including those
with a disability, seniors and your pets. Store supplies in easy-to-carry containers
such as backpacks or plastic crates. For ideas, visit these checklists at sdge.com/
checklists.
Help your neighbors. Being a good neighbor takes more than sharing the occasional
cup of sugar or hosting a potluck. It’s important to help our neighbors during
emergencies, especially those who are vulnerable, elderly or disabled.
For more emergency checklists and evacuation plans, visit sdge.com/emergency.
Update your SDG&E contact information
Whatever the circumstances, SDG&E will make every effort to communicate with you during emergencies. Go to sdge.com/MyAccount to sign in. From the My Account homepage, click on your profile name in the top right-hand corner, then select “My Profile.”
Sign-up for outage notifications
Get notified when there is an outage in your area. Sign into sdge.com/MyAccount. From the My Account Home Page, click on your profile name in the top right-hand corner, then select “Notification Settings.”
If you would like help setting
up your own emergency
disaster plan, we (PACC staff)
would be happy to sit down
with you, to help you feel better
prepared for an emergency.
Call 760-839-4688 to set up an
