Dynamic Catholic, Alive! – Repentance Repentance means more than merely saying “I’m sorry” for something you’ve done wrong. Saying “I’m sorry” and meaning it is, of course, an important step. But real “contrition” is about doing something that will make amends for the consequences of the wrong itself. Once we’re sorry for our sin, we have to resolve not to repeat the wrong and resolve to repair the wrong as much as is possible. Think about whether you might still need to make amends for something—then go do it! (CCC 1451-1454) archstl.org/dynamic

“We’re Married, but out of the Church.” Is there something that can be done? Why is it important to have our marriage blessed in the Catholic Church? It is never too late to look into having your marriage blessed in the Church. It’s as simple as calling Fr. Tony Dattilo at the rectory (573-438-6181). Fr. Tony will set up an appointment with you to sit down and talk it over. If you’ve never tried before, or if you tried and it didn’t seem to go anywhere, why not try now?! It may be easier than you think!

KEEPING US UP TO DATE! To St. Joachim and St. Joseph Parishioners We have had several letters returned to our parish from recent mailings we have sent to parishioners because of incorrect addresses. If you have changed your address in anyway please contact the parish office and let us know. The slightest change in your address from what we have had can result in a return. Please update your telephone number also! Many people are now using cell phone numbers and not land line phones. If you could share your cellphone and email addresses with the parish office, we would greatly appreciate it! Also, if you are not receiving any mailings from the parish, let us know that also! Thank you!

“Your Future Begins With Us” News from St. Joachim School

Mission Statement The mission of St. Joachim Catholic School is to assist the parents and parish community in the shared responsibility of providing an excellent religious and academic education that is Alive in Christ for the children of Washington County. Greetings this beautiful Fall. So many activities have happened at St. Joachim's. One of our biggest is a fund raiser sale of breads, cookie dough, and pizzas. Any student that sold items for the fund raiser was awarded a free uniform pass. Students that sold 10 or more items put their name in a drawing eligible for one of three Walmart gift cards. Tyrese, Rylee W. and Rylee M. were winners. Our school sold $5,850.00 in sales with a profit of $2,326.80. The fund raiser has increased in profit from last year. Thank you to all that purchased items and the delivery date is scheduled for Oct. 26th. Great Success! Thank you parents for attending the Parent/Teacher Conferences held last Thursday evening and Friday morning. An awards assembly for the first quarter will be announced. This week students and staff are participating in Red Ribbon Week. The following schedule starts Monday. • Monday, Oct 24 - Wear RED day •Tuesday, Oct 25 - "Don't Get Wrapped Up in Drugs" Day. Students and staff will enjoy an activity contest of wrapping a student in toilet paper. The teacher and class that wins gets a treat. (after Tuesday's Mass) •Wednesday, Oct 26 - "Black Out Drugs" by wearing all black! •Thursday, Oct 27- "Our Future is So Bright, We Need Shades" Students may wear sunglasses & out of Uniform for $1.00 •Friday, Oct 28 - Teachers will be participating in MRI training in-house with Mr. Courtois. Many more thanks for donations towards the roof. I have been contacted by JV Contracting that there is a possibility to start the roof within a few weeks. Supplies have been purchased. I will let all know specifics when I receive them. Oct 31 is Trunk or Treat at 6:30 pm. All parents should have notified the office if they are planning on attending. Call Maggie at the rectory office (438-6181) if you haven’t signed up yet. There are eight candidates for the Sacrament of Reconciliation in December. Please pray for these students that they will be willing to fully participate in receiving this special sacrament. Religious Education News

Serve Him with Joy and Gladness RCIA and Adult Faith Formation. If interested in becoming Catholic, being fully received into Catholic Church, receiving sacrament of Confirmation call Joyce Politte, 573-438-3213 or 636-328-1343. Come and See. Sessions meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. in the lower room of the Incarnate Word building. Mission Feedback. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Mission goals were achieved. Parishioners were revived in spirit, given strength for the journey and were motivated to go out, invite, and tell others about Jesus. Some who have been away, came back. Parishioners are telling how they enjoyed Father Pete and spending time together afterwards. Most nights it was 8:30-9:00 before everyone left the cafeteria. Wasn’t it awesome? Rather than let this be a onetime event, how do we keep this spirit alive? Some suggested goals that came from parishioners: 1) To continue to extend hospitality and celebrate sacraments and special occasions 2) To continue to evangelize. 3) To continue to feed our spiritual hunger and foster our relationship with the Lord. How do we do this? Form an Activity Committee, Recruit Greeters, Monthly Coffee and Doughnuts after Masses, Schedule Days of Recollection, Special Celebrations (E.g. Celebrate Marriages of 5, 10, 15, 20 years), Celebrations after Sacraments, Phone contact with those who have returned, and Continue home visits. To accomplish the goals, the help of Everyone is needed. If you would like to be a greeter or a part of an activities’ committee, call the rectory or drop a note in the collection basket. Life in the Spirit Reunion with Gary & Kathy Whitlock on November 20 at 5 p.m. Around 65 persons attended the Life in the Spirit Seminar. Come join us for an evening of song and praise.

THIS WEEK’S READINGS: In our Gospel today, Jesus describes two men who went to the temple to pray, but only one comes away justified. The book of Sirach tells us that the one who serves God willingly is heard. As we hear and pray about these scriptures today, let us listen for clues about the kind of prayer our loving God wishes to hear from us.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: How can I become a joyful “welcomer” this last month of the Jubilee Year of Mercy to friends who have not yet found their joy in confidently trusting God’s loving mercy?

The Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a couple of raffles for their “Knights for Neighbors” program. Raffle tickets are being sold for an “Authentic Italian Dinner” for 8 people, prepared by Fr. The tickets are $25.00 each and the drawing will be held on October 29th. All proceeds benefit the Knights for Neighbors Program which adopts families in need at Christmas time. They will also have raffle tickets available for a Fourth of a Beef and Processing (Donated by Johnston’s Farm). Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 Tickets for $20.00. The drawing for this will be at the Halloween dance on Oct. 29, 2016. If you wish to purchase a ticket please see one of the Members of the Knights before the drawing on the 29th. Your support of their endeavors is appreciated!
