The information we will receive, as a result of this testing, will enable our teachers to determine how to meet the academic needs of all their students. (Reading: fluency, comprehension, etc. and/or Math: long division, fractions, etc.). Thank you to Miss Pearson and Mrs. Kamaloski for all they did, in testing sessions or behind the scenes, to allow our students to focus on being successful! Thank you to our 4th grade students for being awesome leaders at Wednesday’s School Liturgy, especially as they were challenged with a difficult reading. My thanks to all of our students and families for their generosity for this month’s Loaves and Fishes donations (our parishioners using the Food Pantry are also very thankful!). We have enjoyed praying the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary this week at Morning Prayer and have learned the names of the first five books of the Old Testament (and added three more today)! Our Girls Volleyball teams continued their seasons on the court last night at St Mary’s in Big Rapids. They continue to represent our school in a positive way! Please plan on joining our students, staff, and parents at an upcoming match. One of our favorite events of the school year will take place next Wednesday: Muffins with Moms! Please plan on joining our students and staff at 7:15 for muffins, coffee, milk, and fellowship. We also welcome grandmas, aunts, neighbors, or special women who make a difference in our children’s lives. You are also invited to join us for our School Liturgy at 9:00, with our 3rd graders as leaders. We will welcome the Cadillac Fire Department next Friday for a Fire Safety Assembly. The assembly will reinforce what students and staff should do at school if a fire were to occur, as well as, what we should do if a fire were to happen in our home. Please remind your child(ren) what they need to do in your home if you have a house fire, tornado warning, etc. Please remember how important it is that you follow our safety procedures for drop-off in the morning. We have recently had several parents who have passed the car in front of them while waiting in line, have driven too fast as they left the parking lot, have walked across the parking lot directly towards the fron entrance, etc. Please demonstrate your support of ensuring the safety of every child and adult at drop-off (and pick-up) by following our expectations every day! Your impatience should never put anyone else, especially a child, at risk! We still have nearly 40 boxes of church envelopes left in the Parish Hall for your weekly/ monthly offering. I hope there isn’t a correlation between the number of church envelopes that haven’t been picked up and the number of families that are not honoring their Sacrificial Intent or attending Mass with their children. I will send out an update on Sacrificial Intent balances in November. Thank you to all of our families who are honoring their Sacrificial Intent and/or Tuition payments. Thank you to students, staff, and families who sent in money for Go4TheGoal. Our school was able to raise $322.58 that will help with pediatric cancer awareness and research. Mark Your Calendar St. Ann School will not be in session on Tuesday, November 1. We will follow CAPS schedule of no school and our entire staff will be participating in Professional Development.

Dignity & Respect - September

Here at St. Ann School, we are very fortunate to have

students who are kind, helpful, and hardworking. Most

come to school every morning ready and eager to learn as

well as to treat their classmates, teachers, and other staff

the way Jesus teaches us. They treat others as they would

like to be treated - with dignity and respect. Someone who

lives this way is this month's Dignity and Respect winner,

Zoey Feister. Not only does Zoey do her best on every

assignment or task, she is always ready to help her

classmates with an assignment or anything else they

need. Her attitude raises the level of joy in our classroom

and it's hard to catch her not smiling. Any team or club or

group would be lucky to have Zoey and that's exactly how

we feel in 7th grade at St. Ann.

Handbook Highlights (page 13) Communications with teachers or students during the school day are made through the school office so that classroom activities are not disturbed. The school office will deliver important messages as soon as possible. Phone calls for students are only allowed in emergency cases. Amended portion: Playdates, missing homework, instruments and/or practice clothing, etc. do not constitute an emergency. Please call school before 2:00PM if there is a change in transportation. Classroom newsletters will be sent home. School newsletter, menus, and calendars are sent via email when an address is provided. Parish bulletin announcements, telephone calls, emails, and conferences will also be used to enhance communications between families and school. St. Ann School uses a parent notification system called BrightArrow.

Parents are invited to enroll with BrightArrow to receive text, email, and/

or phone calls for school notification, such as, weather delays,

cancellations, schedule changes and important reminders.

September 2016 Employee of the Month Employee of the Month encompasses many qualities such as being friendly, helpful, and motivated to do things above and beyond what is normally asked of them. This staff member has only been with us a few years but has proven himself from the very start. We appreciate this staff member’s approachability and willingness to work hard no matter the task at hand. Attention to details is a quality that not everyone possesses like this person does. We are grateful to, and happy to select Mr. Brian Happel, our September 2016 Employee of the Month.
