The Hamblen county car club organized in the summer of 2002. We are a non-profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of a safe, family-

oriented enjoyment of Classic and Custom cars and trucks through club camaraderie, monthly meetings and scheduled special events. HCCC meets

on the third Tuesday of each month, except December, at Golden Corral in Morristown. Come at 6:00PM for dinner and our meetings begin at

7:00PM. Club membership is open to persons 16 or older who are interested in classic cars and trucks. Dues are $25.00 annually, payable on Sept

1st. Cruise “N”ews is the official publication of the HCCC and is printed and distributed electronically monthly. All news articles, photographs, and

items of interest are welcome for consideration for publication, subject to editing. Submission deadlines the first of each month. If you would like

to receive a newsletter by mail or email, please let me know. Thank you, Evie Valentine ([email protected])

Hamblen County Car Club Minutes September 17, 2019

The Hamblen County Car Club was called to order Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the Golden Corral by

President, Guy Leolich. Thirty-one people (31) signed in. Gene Honeycutt offered the opening prayer.

New members/visitors were welcomed.

Minutes from the August meeting were approved after a motion by Billy Seals, seconded by Jim Brown.

The treasurer’s report was given by Janice Hawkins and approved with a motion from Don McGinnis,

which was seconded by Tony Hayes. Janice reported the club now has an address - P.O. Box 462, Talbott

TN 37877.

President’s Remarks: Guy Leolich said a Trailer person and a Public Relations person is still needed.

Gene Honeycutt was suggested for the PR position. He graciously accepted. Guy said the t-shirt dilemma

is still unresolved. He reminded members of the many car shows coming up on Saturday as well as the upcoming Christmas parade and Christmas party. There will be sign-ups next month.

Vice President’s Remarks: Jean Malott said entertainment, games, and 50/50’s have been added to the

cruise-ins this past month. She reminded members of the Drive and Dine to Cowboys, scheduled for

Thursday, Sept. 19 and the event at Don McGinnis’s on October 11. The Christmas dinner will be a buffet

meal and entertainment at Best Western at 5:30 (dinner at 6:00) on December 12. Cost is $5.00. Winners for the Volunteer drawing were Jim Brown and Dick Valentine.

Reports: Guy Leolich spoke for Dick Valentine regarding the Winter Angel Expo. A meeting is scheduled

on Thursday and work is continuing the booklets. Ted Kalagian said there are two new trailer ads on the

front; the back ad may be split into two ads. Guy said we have approximately 160 members. Annual dues are due.

Old Business: Discussion continued regarding charitable cash donations versus goods and services.

When possible goods and services are preferred, but sometime a cash donation is much easier. Each situation will be decided on a “case by case” basis.

New Business: Suggestions for cruise-ins for 2020 include:

*-Only having cruise-ins twice a month (1st and 3rd or 2nd and 4th Saturdays). This will allow members to see other shows and lessen the burden of working the trailer.

*-Keep a set time (5:00 pm to 8:00 pm), and to limit the cruise-ins to April through September.

*-Ask for a permanent sign on the marquee to advertise the cruise-ins with times listed.

Guy Leolich asked members to think about adding a 2nd car show next summer or fall. He encouraged

members to check out a Facebook page done by Jim Kramer.

The meeting adjourned after a motion by Larry Beede, seconded by Larry Beede and several others……..

☺ Respectfully submitted by Judy Hopkins

should be ready next week. The cruise-ins are winding down for this season. The 50/50 raffle, which was

Presidents Newsletter Input September/October

October is at the doorstep already! We are winding down the cruise-ins. Only a few

more to go and the season will be over.

With only a few more cruise-ins taking place, it would be good to see everyone make an

effort to get to them and have a good time and meet up with friends and club members.

There always seems to be a new car or two that I’ve not seen showing up quite regularly.

Come on down and have a good time!

I know it is only October, but we have some December items to be aware of. We are

going to be needing a count of how many cars want to be participating in the Christmas

parade. It is always a fun time and a great time to show off your Christmas spirit. The parade

will be on December 5th.

The Winter Angel Expo is moving along also. It will be on January 18th and 19th this year.

If you would like to volunteer to help out, please get in contact with Dick Valentine or me and

we will get you involved. We will be having a full Saturday of live music taking place with a

variety of artists scheduled to appear. We think it is another solid car show being put

together.

I would also urge member to come to the club meeting October 15th at Golden Corral.

There are issues being discussed that could use your input one item to be discussed is possibly

switching the cruise-ins to 1st and 3rd weekends of the months. The main reason is to free up

some weekends to club members can feel free to go to other shows and events that happen to

be at the same time. Let us know what you think.

Well, that is probably enough rambling on. I hope to see you at the club events, and

everyone be safe, have fun and thank the Lord for all our blessings. Thank you for your time

Guy
