LETTER FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Great things are happening at your Chamber starting with new members … 31 so far this year. Those who have joined have been featured in our newsletters, and we are especially happy to have them on board.
You will also notice that The Clanton Advertiser joins three other businesses, Personnal Appearance Catering, LeMak Sports Medicine and Heart of Dixie Parts & Equipment, as new Corporate Sponsors this year. Our hat is off to businesses like these (see complete list on page four) who support this Chamber in an extraordinary way.
Because of you, Chamber events have been particularly successful this year. Usually 40 to 50 individuals have attended each Ribbon
Cutting and Business After Hours, and we have averaged more than 60 at the Chamber Luncheons. We are especially appreciative of Clanton First United Methodist Church for the use of their activity center to hold the monthly luncheons.
Your 2011 Ambassador Team is set and we have an exceptional group who are committed and who are actively working to make this Chamber a success.
Finally, there is more happening in October/November as you can see from the calendar of events. If you are not already involved, take advantage of the opportunities your Chamber provides.
See you at a Chamber event soon.
Mike RobertsonExecutive Director
“I could not have made it without your organization,” “Your employees helped make life bearable these last few months,” or “You are just an angel.”
These quotes are words often heard by the employees of Gentiva Hospice. The words mean so much to the employees because they typically come from a Hospice patient or family member.
Gentiva Hospice has been serving the state of Alabama for more than 17 years and is now in Clanton covering Chilton, Bibb, Autauga and Dallas counties. The main focus of Gentiva Hospice is to help a patient live out his/her last days with dignity and respect. While a patient with any end-stage disease may be eligible for Hospice care, the most common diseases seen are cancer, end-stage heart disease, dementia, lung diseases and end-stage kidney disease.
Gentiva Hospice provides Hospice care in the home, nursing home and assisted living facilities.
The location of the service is very important because providing care in the setting most familiar to the patient is usually best practice for the
patient. A person is eligible for
Hospice care when their life expectancy is six months or less, when they are no longer seeking aggressive treatment, and when their personal physician believes that Hospice is the appropriate type of care.
It is important to remember that anyone can make a referral to Gentiva Hospice. After the referral is received and the patient’s physician is contacted, an RN will make a visit to the patient and family to assess the patient and to thoroughly explain the services that are available. Included in these services are regular visits by a nurse, a home health aide, and a social worker. Also available are a volunteer and a chaplain. All of the interdisciplinary team members are important because Hospice care offers a holistic approach. In other words the care meets physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs.
Gentiva Hospice services are covered by Medicare and Medicaid as well as most private insurances and most managed care plans. Military personnel and their dependents can receive hospice care through TRICARE. The Hospice Medicare Benefit covers the aforementioned team services, all home medical equipment and supplies related to the terminal illness, and all medications related to the terminal illness.
“We are very excited about our new Clanton office. It is such an honor and privilege to serve the people of Clanton and be a part of this wonderful community providing such special care”, says Teresa Blair, Executive Director.
For more information about Gentiva Hospice or to schedule a hospice speaker for your office, facility, civic club or church group please call (205) 755-1505.
