2016 – 2017 Registration Dates & Times
ALL REGISTRATION TIMES ARE 8:00AM – 12:00PM
(UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED)
NOTE: Parents/author ized adults must first electronically register their child by going to
www.katyisd.org/registration and selecting New Student Registration. This process may be
done from any computer or hand-held device. Parents/authorized adults are also required to go
to the appropriate campus during the dates and times specified below in order to complete the
registration process. Parents who arrive after the scheduled ending time will be asked to return
on the next scheduled registration day to finalize enrollment.
COMMUNITY FLYERS.
This summer, incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students, are invited to regis-
ter for the 2nd Annual CTE STEM Maker Camp scheduled for Monday, June
20th – Thursday, June 23rd or Monday, July 18th – Thursday, July 21st from
8:00AM-3:00PM at Cardiff Junior High. The $150 per child fee includes lunch for
all four days and a t-shirt. Transportation is not included and must be provided
by the parent/guardian. Students will rotate through stations to learn and create
in the following categories:
Laser Engraving
Structures
Lathe Turning
Leatherworking
Electronics
Science of Food
Robotics
Registration is available online only via your student’s My Payment Plus ac-
count and opens on Monday, April 18th at 7:00AM. The first 100 completed regis-
trations per session will be accepted and each student may register for only one
session (both sessions cover same content). Payment via My Payments Plus is
due at time of registration and is non-refundable.

SUMMER CAMPS
GT Screening for Kindergarteners has been completed.
GT Screening for Grades 1-4 —The GT screening
process is underway for students in grades 1-4.
Testing takes place throughout the Spring Semes-
ter, and final placement notices will be sent home
the first week of June, 2016.
GT Screening for 5th Graders has been completed.
Gifted and Talented Update
Due to testing security, our campus will be closed to all visitors on several days
throughout the school year on testing days. The following days are scheduled
for STAAR testing:
Monday, May 9, 2016 – 3rd and 4th Grade Math, 5th Grade Math Re-test
Tuesday, May 10, 2016 - 3rd and 4th Grade Reading, 5th Grade Reading Re-
test
Wednesday, May 11, 2016 - 5th Grade Science
Thursday, May 12, 2016 - Make-Up Sessions
Friday, May 13, 2016 - Make-Up Sessions
Visitors to the building, volunteers, lunch visitors, and birthday treats will not be
allowed on these scheduled testing dates. Thank you for your patience while we
try to provide optimal testing conditions for our students.
On these “Closed Campus” days, we will NOT have I-Station, FASTT Math, and
Accelerated Reader in the morning before school.
S.T.A.A.R. Testing Dates—Campus Closed
The last day for AR Testing will be Friday, April 22nd.
The last day to check out library books is Friday, May 6th. All library books are due Friday, May 13th.
A librarian from the Cinco Ranch Public Li-brary will be meeting with all students at OKE on Tuesday, May 31st to introduce their summer reading program to our students.
PUBLIC NOTICE A public meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 2, 2016, at 1:00PM in the Katy Inde-pendent School District Educational Support Complex, Room 1200BCG located at 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, Texas regarding the ESEA Title I, Title II, Title III, IDEA B Special Ed-ucation, High School Accelerated Instruction and Carl D. Perkins CTE programs as imple-mented in the 2015-2016 school year and as proposed for 2016-2017 school year. The staff and the public are invited to comment on these programs. A written statement for the rec-ord must accompany all comments made.

The OKE student council is teaming up with the Texas Chil-
dren’s Hospital to help bring a smile to the patient’s faces.
Student council is looking for donations of the following items:
New books, magazines, playing cards, puzzles, and board
games.
Coloring books and crayons. Crayons must be non-toxic.
Crossword puzzles, dot-to-dots or trivia games.
Craft packets that include pre-made craft supplies that pa-
tients can work on in their rooms. Examples include activity
booklets, door hangers, nametags, or small crafts patients
can complete in their rooms unsupervised.
Play-doh mini
All items must be new for infection control purposes.
No markers, buttons, ribbon, glitter on tray mats.
Items will be collected in the bin in the front office from
April 4th-15th
