Composed of 1,500 wooded acres, the YaleOutdoor Education Center (OEC) is nestled on thesouth shore of pristine mile-long Powers Lake. TheOEC is located in East Lyme, Connecticut, only 42miles east of New Haven off I-95 North.
VisitingCome for the day or every day all summer! By
the day, adults pay $6, children age 6-12 years$3; just show your Yale ID at the check-in station.Seasonal memberships are sold from the NewHaven ofce or by mailing in the application.
Cabins & CampsitesNine rustic, lakeside cabins and nine secluded
campsites are available for summer rental. Cabinshave a picnic table, grill, electricity, refrigerator,and small deck overlooking the lake; campsitesinclude a picnic table and grill. A screened 12 x16 Adirondack-style campsite shelter is available.Shower house for people staying overnight only.
Cabin/campsite rentals require membership.Swimming, Fishing & Boating
A large, H-shaped aluminum dock provides idealswimming conditions in the lake, with lifeguardson duty. Nearby, a boat/shing dock housesa small eet of rowboats, kayaks, canoes, andpaddleboards (new!) which are free of charge.Lifejackets are available and required.
Picnicking and RecreationThe OEC offers a lakeside grove with picnic
tables and grills, grass and sand beaches, camprering*, hiking trail, clay volleyball court, custom-builthorseshoe pits, small basketball court, recreationcabin with table tennis, and childrens playground.*See website for campre and rewood policies.

Group CampsiteA large campsite for groups of up to 25 people.
In addition to tent space, there is a big, screened-in Adirondack-style Group Shelter on the site.
The site is removed from our family campsites,and contains a re pit, oversize grill, large custom-built picnic tables, trash receptacles and twoporto-potties. No alcohol allowed.

Group Party FacilitiesIdeal for groups of over 30, the lakeside
Pavilion is a large, open-air structure withtables and benches. A grill with serving area isconnected to the pavilion via a breezeway. Seephoto below. For a more private and remoteatmosphere, the rustic Dining Hall, situated highon a hill, provides a spectacular panorama of the
lake from a large deck. It is ideal for fancieroccasions, such as wedding receptions or meetings,where weather and seating are factors. TheGazebo is available for small group rentals of upto 25 people. The Gazebo is located at the watersedge and has a large grill and two picnic tablesnearby. These facilities must be reserved.

Continue 2 miles to stop sign. Straight throughOEC main gate, follow dirt road 3/4 mile to check-instation, parking lot and lake. Speed limit 8 miles perhour. No motorcycles allowed.
